Opening Journal Entry - 10/15/08
I work nights and sleep only about 5 1/2 to 6 hours a night/day, whatever. So when I get home at 530am and am in bed by 545am (no joke), I am up by 11 or 1130. I am a diabetic so the first thing I do is check my blood sugar, then I take my pills with some sort of food, usually glucerna cereal or light and fit yogurt, catch up on the news for about 30 minutes and then I hit the treadmill at about 12 or 1230 for 40 minutes to an hour (long enough to do 2-3 miles). Then I have some lunch, usually a low carb whole wheat wrap with deli turkey, lettuce and mayo (full fat and calorie mayo, that is one thing that I wont cheat myself out of).
I watch a bit of news and then try and catch a nap for an hour or so. So by 2 or 230pm I am cleaning house or something of that nature. If my house work doesn't last long, here I sit by 3 or 330 and am bored and that is the worst for me, I can't seem to stay away from the fridge if I have nothing to do.
By 430pm I am in the shower getting ready for work ... I leave for work about 545pm to be at work by 6 and have dinner with my co-workers, another bad time is at work ...
because we are a 24 hr business, food is available 24 hours a day and while it may not be the best in the world, it is available.
So I have dinner with my friends at about 6 or 615pm, usually not something good, although there is always a salad bar, you can only eat salad so much before you want to die. It usually is some sort of Chinese cuisine, Mexican or something else ethnic and for someone that is also a diabetic, these foods kill me, not to mention pack on the pounds.
I work 4 ten hour shifts so luckily I have only 4 days to fight this, but 1/2 the week I am a supervisor and have a break only about every 2 hours which is really good but the other half of the week I am a regular employee and break every hour for 20 minutes each time - bad news! At 1am breakfast is being served in the employee dining room and it is tough!
This is my 1st work day since joining CC and am not sure how this is going to work out, I am going to try to stay away from the food but no promises!
