Entry What a spectacularly crappy eating day!

I started out well. I had very good intentions of behaving all day. Breakfast was the usual 285 calories of cereal, flax seed, and milk. Lunch time I had 2 apples @ 130 calories (in hindsight, that must've been the problem right there- I should've eaten a real lunch). Then in the afternoon I picked up the bag of chips that I told myself I would not touch, and I touched them. A lot of them. I ate probably 1/2 big bag of Lays chips, maybe more.

Then I felt really awful about what I'd gone and done.

No time to dwell on it though, as I had to pick my kids up from school- my oldest had 2 soccer games in a community that was a hour and a half drive away. By the time the games were done and we got back to the city for supper, I still wasn't hungry. Which was a good thing, because even if I was, I still wouldn't have eaten, just to try to keep as close to my daily intake goal as possible.

I estimate my chips feast to have cost me somewhere around ...what?. I dunno...800, 900 calories?

I always try to look at the positive side of it, and here's what it is: the chips are gone! Yeah!! Actually, there was still a little bit left in the bag, but I was so disgusted with myself afterwards, that I threw the rest out (a definite first for me! I have been known to open the bag and lick it clean!! lol)

Here's to back on track tomorrow because there's no more chips in the house! Woohoo!! Goooooo team!

- side note- in the spirit of complete honesty and disclosure, after the salty chips I started eyeing the cookies and figured I'd already blew the day- what's one cookie? :S

I'm impressed at how good you were earlier in the day ... You're on the right track. Maybe give yourself a little treat earlier in the day? Smile

Count it as a cheat day Smile then you can excuse it and get back on schedule. Don't be disgusted at yourself! One day won't hurt!

Perhaps shoot for some lower GI foods to keep you feeling satiated? Like maybe oatmeal instead of cereal, and the simple sugars from the apples probably helped induce cravings. If you eat them with some fat(like PB) and protein (like milk or yogurt) they it'll be more rounded out. However, you are more likely right about not having a real lunch.

I've tried eating oatmeal a few different times (once just 2 days ago, actually). I have the weight watchers cinnamon flavored instant variety. I can get the first few bites in, then I just can't seem to eat anymore. It's so slimy! I'd love to have advice on preparation because I must be making it wrong (so many people like it, eat it, so that's the only thing I can figure).
