As I continue on my journey, I truly want to lay down anything in my life that doesn't honor God.

Inside some of us is a thin person struggling to get out, but he can usually be sedated with a few pieces of chocolate cake. Author unknown
As my body continues to heal from the pulmonary embolism we are looking into other areas to check on regarding my weight.
Did you know there is a difference between weight loss and burning fat? To lose weight means to lose water and muscle tissue with little to no fat loss. Burning fat means to lose fat tissue with no loss of water or muscle tissue.
We all have differing metabolisms. Some of us seem to run on high-speed,others chug-chug along, practically on neutral. For some, losing weight seems to be a no-big-deal process. This week I am working on cutting back my caloric intake. I want to keep my metabolism running smoothly.
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37

"Take my instruction and not silver, And knowledge rather than choicest gold. For wisdom is better than jewels: And all desirable things can not compare with her." Proverbs 8:10-11 (NAS)
Don't ever do things quickly or without asking the Lord for His opinion. He wants you to have a sharp mind and stay focused on the task at hand. He desires the best for you, from the top of your head to the bottom of your toes.
James 1:2-5 "Consider it all joy, my brethren when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
In adversity we usually want God to do a removing job whe he wants to do an improving job.
James 1:19 "This you know, my beloved brethren, But let every one be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger."
These are commands I need to apply to be all God would have me to be. Thank goodness I am still under construction!

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Phillipians 1:6 (NAS)
I hope you and your family had a nice Thanksgiving. We did - I even got up and made some "homemade gravy" and rice pilaf. We cooked a turkey dinner from Von's on Wednesday night my girlfriend from high school provided. You should have seen Andy cooking! John Michael jumped in and opened the can of black olives and heated up the rolls. We played some Scrabble - Andy actually beat me - first time! I got to enjoy a few of my favorite musicals Guys And Dolls plus Fiddler on the Roof. Later we watched the movie Marty.
At home here we have been working on the emotional end of my eating. Talking about the repression and results of "missed opportunities". Very interesting stuff. That's why Andy wanted me to see "Marty" and how he dealt with the peer pressure. Working on self- esteem issues that "boys" hurt me with at a younger age.
Andy told me now that I am feeling better - I need to be more accountable to the site in documenting and weighing in on a regular basis. I need to be setting an example. It was important for me to get restarted. I gained 8 pounds since coming home from the hospital on November 5th. Definitely not good. * (*nurse came and visited me at 11:30 am - says I am retaining fluid so a portion of the weight is fluid) I am not on any steroid medications or medications that would cause weight gain - so no excuses!
So check out our "Weekend Weigh-in" section - you can weigh either, Friday, Saturday or Sunday - whichever you feel comfortable with.
