Well it is true when they say the second day after is harder. This morning I was able to come down the stairs but I did have to use the hand rail to support myself on the steps down.
Took a long hot bath last night and 1 Motrin before going to bed. I actually felt really good so I didn't have any trouble falling asleep and sleeping through the night.
Today I am off to work, I don't have many meetings this week so I am going to try and book time with a massauge therapist. (Next time I am definitely going to book ahead so I get in by day two).
My plan today is do more easy walking. I am not sure if I am even going to take the stairs at work today. Did some reading yesterday about recovery and I think my best plan is to keep moving but to be really careful not to over do it. I am also trying to eat really well - good quality carbs, good lean protein, and lots of veggies.
My weight is fluctuating but that is to be expected. On the morning of Race day I was 159. After the marathon even though I drank during and almost 3L afterwards I was 155.4. This morning I am 158. Not surprising since I have been drinking at least 6L of water yesterday.
My blood sugar has been really stable. I am testing it often to make sure that I cram in as much good carb as possible to replace what the marathon took out of me and at the same time not letting my blood sugar go to high. Its a real pain but I am determine to maximise my health.
I did some more reading on the Boston Marathon. By the looks of it, I am going to need to make a decision soon if I am going to the 2009 marathon. Going to need to talk to my family to determine if it makes any sense. There are quite of few things that didn't happen this year at the house and cottage because of my training schedule. If I am going to do this I need to find a way to get some small renovations done at the same time as training this winter.
D and I also want to go south this winter so that would make two vacation trips before summer. $$$$.
Well I guess I better get moving (as slow as it is). I want to get to work a bit early so I can catch up on email before things get rolling.
Have a great day! I know I will
Hey munrori - depending on how far south you want to go I might be able to help keep the cost down! It doesn't get to cold here in North Texas and we have an empty guest room! Of course if I've moved to Atlanta by the time to travel, Atlants, GA would be your destination! We'll still have an empty guest rooom no matter where we move to! |
