condiment, yogurt or ice cream topping
| 1/2 | cup sugar |
| 1 | cup water |
| 1/2 | cup red wine |
| 1/4 | tsp cinnamon |
| 1/2 | cup dried cherry |
| 12 | ounce cranberries |
| 1/2 | tsp orange zest |
- combine sugar, water, wine and cinnamon in a nonreactive saucepan, and bring to boil.
- add cherries and cook for 1 min.
- stir in cranberries and return to boil.
- reduce heat, and simmer until about 1/2 the cranberries pop, 10-12 mins.
- remove from heat and stir in zest.
- cool completely before serving.
