Mexican drunken bean soup.
| 1 | tbsp olive oil |
| 270 | grams onion, sliced (about 1 medium) |
| 150 | grams poblano pepper, sliced (about 1 medium) |
| 60 | grams jalapeno, diced (about 3 whole raw peppers) |
| 50 | grams turkey bacon (about 2 slices) |
| 1 | cup water |
| 40 | grams cilantro, chopped |
| 2 | cups beer, heineken lager |
| 14 1/2 | ounces canned tomato, diced |
| 60 | ounces pinto beans, canned with liquid |
| 1 | tsp kosher salt |
| 1 | tbsp garlic powder |
| 1 | tsp black pepper |
| 1 | tbsp cumin |
| 1/4 | tsp paprika |
| 30 | grams lime juice |
| 1/4 | tsp louisiana hot sauce |
- Fry onion, poblano pepper, jalapeno and bacon in the olive oil until tender.
- Add 1 cup water, 2 cups beer, tomato and cilantro.
- Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add beans and spices.
- Bring to a boil and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Optional: Serve with rice or corn tortillas.
