stuffing/dressing

Makes 12 servings

great stuffing without bird

Ingredients
5 cups bread, tear into smaller pieces use about 1 loaf of bread, can incorporate croutons/stuffing pieces also
4 eggs
3 cups mushrooms, pieces, fresh
1 cup celery, chopped
1 cup onion, choppped
1 cup water
3 tbs Chicken Bouillon, dry and optional poultry seasoning to taste
3 tbs vegetable oil
Directions
  1. in larger frying pan, fry onions for about 3-5 minutes

  2. add celery, continue frying for 3 more minutes

  3. add mushrooms, continue with medium heat for 3 more minutes

  4. add water and chicken bouillon and poultry seasoning if desired, add more water if need to just cover contents in pan, and let simmer for 5 minutes, make sure water does not get very low (will need moisture for mixing)

  5. meanwhile, put bread in very large mixing bowl and in separate smaller bowl, beat four eggs until well mixed

  6. add pan mixture to bread pieces and mix well so slightly moist, add more water if still totally dry

  7. add eggs to bowl and mix well

  8. oil sides and bottom of crockpot well

  9. put dressing/stuffing into crockpot on low for 5-8 hours, check at 5, 6, 7 hour to make sure sides are not burnt
