Add a quarter cup of dried fruit or nuts to liven up this bare-bones recipe.

Ingredients
| 1 |
cup flour, all purpose, unbleached |
| 1/2 |
stick unsalted butter |
| 1/2 |
t. baking powder |
| 1/4 |
t. baking soda |
| 1/4 |
c. sour cream |
| 1/4 |
whole egg |
| 1/4 |
c. sugar |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425.
- Cut up butter.
- Stir baking soda into sour cream and set aside.
- Combine dry ingredients.
- Cut in butter.
- Add 1/4 cup of dried fruit, if desired.
- Add sour cream mixture and egg to mixture.
- On floured surface, pat out into circle 1/2 to 3/4 inch high.
- Cut into wedges.
- Bake for 12 minutes.
