Buttermilk biscuits for two

Makes 2 servings

Sandwich slivers of sharp cheddar after baking for a savory treat. Note: subtract 110 mg of sodium from nutrition facts. The recipe analyzer is using salted butter.

Ingredients
1 cup flour, unbleached, Gold Medal
3 1/2 oz buttermilk
1/2 stick butter, without salt
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. salt
1/4 t. baking soda
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

  2. Cut butter into small pieces.

  3. Mix dry ingredients by hand.

  4. Cut in butter.

  5. Add buttermilk to mixture and mix by hand.

  6. Lightly pat out dough into circle that's one half to three-fourths inch tall. Do not overhandle dough.

  7. Cut with biscuit cutter or round cookie cutter.

  8. Bake for 12 minutes.
