Mom's Pear & Cheese Pie

Makes 8 servings

This is the ONLY fruit pie I eat warm or cold. Make sure the pears are ripe. The shell is 9 inch unbaked.

Ingredients
4 pears
1/3 cup sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/8 tsp salt
1 pastry shell
1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
Directions
  1. Peel & thinly slice the pears.

  2. Shred cheese & melt margarine.

  3. In a bowl, combine pears, sugar, cornstarch and salt.

  4. Pour into pastry shell.

  5. Combine topping ingredients (everything listed after the crust) until crumbly; sprinkle over filling.

  6. Bake at 425 degrees for 25-35 minutes or until crust is golden and cheese is melted. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.

  7. Serve warm.

  8. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.
