Simple Lo-Calorie Pasta Sauce w/Turkey
| 1 | ounce ground turkey |
| 3 | ounce tomato sauce |
| 1/8 | teaspoon basil |
| 1 | ounce onion |
| 1/8 | teaspoon salt |
- Brown the turkey in the microwave for 2-3 minutes, depending upon the servings you want to make. Discard the fat for leaner sauce, less calories.
- Use peeled crushed tomatoes from Italy if you can get them(San Marzano). They have lower acidic content.
- Sprinkle the salt and basil in the tomatoes, and place in a sauce pan over medium heat. Cut up the onion and place that with the browned turkey.
- Then, as the sauce starts to get hot, add the meat and onion. Simmer for 20 minutes to an hour until all the flavors blend together. Serve over your favorite pasta.
