| 1/2 | cup rolled oats |
| 4 | tbsp brown sugar |
| 1 | tbsp whole wheat flour |
| 1 | tbsp cold unsalted butter |
| 6 | apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (firm are best) |
| 1 | cup blueberries, frozen (or cranberries) |
| 1 | tbsp fresh lemon juice |
| 1/4 | tsp cinnamon |
| 1/8 | tsp ground nutmeg |
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F, spray an 8-inch-square baking dish with nonstick spray.
- In a small bowl, combine the oats, 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar, and the flour; with two knives or your fingers; work in the butter until crumbly.
- In a large bowl, combine the apples, blueberries (or cranberries), the remaining 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, the lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg; toss to combine. Spoon into the pan; sprinkle with the oats mixture. Bake until the filling is bubbling and the topping is golden brown, 35-40 minutes.
