Submitted by alexo

Makes 1 serving

Warm homemade syrup and a tasty slice of french toast! Still working on a lower calorie version!

Ingredients

For the syrup:
10 tbsp light brown sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1 dash of cinnamon

For the French toast:
1 slice whole-wheat bread
1 egg
1/2 cup skim milk
1 cinnamon to taste
1 dash of vanilla extract
Directions
  1. In a pan, heat water and brown sugar until it bubbles.

  2. While the syrup is heating, wisk 1 egg in a shallow bowl, then add milk. Add vanilla extract and cinnamon to your liking.

  3. Once the syrup is heated, add a dash of cinnamon to it, and pour the liquid into a cup or small bowl.

  4. Douse the wheat bread in the egg mixture by dipping it into the bowl, or pouring it on either side of the bread on a plate.

  5. Cook the french toast to your liking. When it is finished, add the amount of syrup you like and voila! A homemade breakfast treat.
