My Irish grandma's recipe-unchanged
| 2 | c. all-purpose flour |
| 4 | tsp baking powder |
| 4 | T sugar |
| 1 | tbl caraway seeds |
| 1/2 | tsp salt |
| 3/4 | cup raisins |
| 3/4 | cup whole milk |
| 1/4 | cup butter |
- sift flour, bk. powder, salt + sugar
- mix in seedless raisins + caraway seeds
- Add milk and melted butter then mix until the dough is soft
- shape into a flat round loaf on a lightly floured board
- put in a greased 8 inch skillet or layer pan
- pat to fit pan
- brush top with milk
- (I skipped the 4th and 7th steps, and it turned out fine)
- bake 400 degrees fahrenheit for 5 min
- reduce heat to 350 and bake for about 30 min.
