traditional corned beef receipe with all veg (1 serving is a meal)
| 3 | lb corned beef (with seasoned packet) |
| 1 | clove garlic, minced (or 1/2 t minced garlic in a jar) |
| 1 | large onion, quartered |
| 2 | heads cabbage ,(small), quartered |
| 9 | red potatoes (2 lb), halved |
| 3 | carrots, cut in thirds (or about 9-12 mini-snack carrots) |
| 2 | gal water |
- place corned beef tip (or flat) and the packet in a LARGE pot. cover with water--add garlic and onion and 1 quarter of a cabbage, bring to boil, simmer about 2-1/2 hours. **
- remove meat from broth. skim fat from liquid. add potatoes and carrots. return to boil and then simmer for 10 min.
- add cabbage and simmer an aditional 15 min.
- ** check at about 2 hours. if seems about done procede to adding veg.
- (i cook outside in large pot over "turkey fryer" burner_
