yummy chinese steam bun, with a chocolate twist!
| 3/4 | cup all-purpose flour |
| 1/2 | tsp baking powder |
| 1 | tbsp granulated sugar |
| 1/2 | tsp yeast |
| 1/4 | cup water |
| 1/4 | tsp corn oil |
| 3/4 | cup all-purpose flour |
| 1 | tbsp cocoa powder |
| 1/2 | tsp baking powder |
| 1 | tbsp granulated sugar |
| 1/2 | tsp yeast |
| 1/4 | cup water |
- Mix together yeast and warm water (first set of ingredients), proof for 5 minutes.
- Mix together flour, baking powder and sugar (first set of ingredients).
- Add yeast mixture fo flour mixture and knead into firm, but soft and smooth, dough. Add more water if necessary.
- Add oil, smooth out dough and let rest for 30- 60 minutes, covered.
- Follow directions as above for the chocolate dough, but add the cocoa powder to the flour mixture and omit the oil.
- Once doughs are proofed roll each into a equal sized rectangular sheets (approx 1/4 inch thick) and place one ontop of the other.
- Roll doughs like a swiss roll and cut into portions.
- Let buns rest, covered, for 15 minutes.
- Steam for 10 minutes.
