Shepard's Pie with Yam Mash Recipe

Shepard's Pie with Yam Mash - hearty british food!

Ingredients
320 g lamb, minced
1 carrot, diced
1 onion, sliced
2 cups yam, cubed
1 tbsp flour
1 pt stock
Directions
  1. Fry the onion until lightly brown

  2. Add mince and fry until brown

  3. Add carrot and fry for 3 mins

  4. Add stock and simmer gently

  5. Sprinkle over flour and reduce for 20 mins.

  6. Meanwhile, boil the yam for 20 mins, or until soft.

  7. When the mince is done, spoon into baking dish. Mash yam to smooth puree and gently top the mince with the mashed yam.

  8. Bake in oven at 180 degrees C until yam has browned on the top.
