Hot and Smokin'

Ingredients
5 lbs of greens
7 oz smoked turkey
8 cups water
1 tbsp olive oil
Directions
  1. *Must have slow cooker, cutting board and wash ben.*

  2. Place smoked turkey and water into slow cooker and cook for 4 hours on low.

  3. Once this is cooking chop the greens and let them soak for a few minutes and then rinse them out. In this process remove all unwanted leaves or stalks.

  4. Repeat this action until the water is a very pale green or clear. (During the rinsing you can use baking soda and or salt to clean the greens.)

  5. Once the greens are clean take a large skillet out and heat a little of the oil in the pan (it is helpful to use a squirt bottle to use as little oil as possible) and stirfry a little of the greens (1/4 of the greens) until they are a dark shade of green and 1/4 the size. Remove from skillet and place into slow cooker.

  6. Repeat this process until all the greens are cooked down and placed in the slow cooker.

  7. Onced the greens are all in the cooker you may add any spices or seasonings to the greens you want.

  8. Me! I add mild/hot peppers and a little of their juicef along with a tsp to tbsp of liquid smoke for flavor.

  9. For gas I always put in baking soda it will bubble up a little bit but it does get rid of the gas.
