Chapati or roti is a staple North Indian diet and is consumed with curry or chutney. It is healthy and nutritious and also supplies fibre. If you have cholestrol problem then do not apply clarified butter on the cooked chappatis.
| 2 | cups whole wheat flour |
| 1/2 | cup water |
| 1/2 | tbsp salt |
| 2 | tbsp clarified butter |
Add salt ( less than 1/2 tbsp) in the flour and knead it into a dough with water. Make small balls out of the dough and flatten them with rolling pin like tortillas. First put the flattened dough on heated tava ( flat saucepan) .Flip it over when the chappati no longer sticks to the saucepan and is light brown. Take it off the tava with the help of tongs and cook it diectly over flame . When it is cooked all over ( it should be golden brown) , put it on a saucer and apply a little clarified butter ( ghee). Serve hot.Categories
