Strawberry French Toast Recipe

Makes 4 servings


From "Manna From Heaven"

Ingredients
12 slices french bread, thick, with crust
1 1/2 c strawberries, sliced
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
3/4 c milk
2 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp sugar
Directions
  1. Arrange half the bread slice in the bottom of an 8 X 8 X 2 inch baking dish coated with cooking spray.

  2. Top bread with a layer of strawberries and then the remaining bread.

  3. Combine egg, egg whites, milk, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon.

  4. Pour slowly over bread to coat evenly.

  5. Cover and chill 8-24 hours.

  6. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

  7. Uncover bread; sprinkle with sugar (and optionally, 1/4 c sliced almonds).

  8. Bake 5 minutes.

  9. Reduce temperature to 325 degrees.

  10. Bake 20-25 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean and top is slightly browned.

  11. Let stand 5 minutes.

  12. Serve immediately.
