Molasses Cookies

Makes 24 servings

Soft molasses cookies, adapted from a recipe posted by Amy1028 on www.allrecipes.com.

Ingredients
2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
2 tsp ginger, ground
1 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/2 tsp cloves, ground
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp water
1/3 cup molasses
Directions
  1. Turn oven on to 350 degrees.

  2. Sift dry ingredients together.

  3. Mix wet ingredients together.

  4. Pour wet ingredients into dry.

  5. Mix thoroughly.

  6. Form into golf ball size balls. Dip tops in sugar if desired.

  7. Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1.5-2 inches apart.

  8. Cook in oven 8-10 minutes.

  9. Remove from cookie sheet and cool at least 15 minutes or until cool to the touch. Cookies stay soft.

  10. Refrigerate in a tin or container to keep.
