Soft molasses cookies, adapted from a recipe posted by Amy1028 on www.allrecipes.com.

Ingredients
| 2 1/4 |
cups whole wheat flour |
| 2 |
tsp ginger, ground |
| 1 |
tsp cinnamon, ground |
| 1/2 |
tsp cloves, ground |
| 1/4 |
tsp salt |
| 3/4 |
cup vegetable shortening |
| 1 |
cup white sugar |
| 1 |
egg |
| 1 |
tbsp water |
| 1/3 |
cup molasses |
Directions
- Turn oven on to 350 degrees.
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Mix wet ingredients together.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Form into golf ball size balls. Dip tops in sugar if desired.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet about 1.5-2 inches apart.
- Cook in oven 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from cookie sheet and cool at least 15 minutes or until cool to the touch. Cookies stay soft.
- Refrigerate in a tin or container to keep.
