Replacing half of the butter with applesauce makes these brownies moist and fudgy without too much of the fat in regular brownies! Add nuts if desired.
| 1/2 | cup butter |
| 1 1/2 | cups white sugar |
| 1/3 | cup unsweetened applesauce |
| 1/2 | cup unsweetened cocoa |
| 1 | teaspoon vanilla extract |
| 4 | eggs |
| 1 | cup all-purpose flour |
| 1/2 | teaspoon baking powder |
| 1/4 | teaspoon salt |
| 2/3 | cup chocolate chips |
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Melt the butter in medium-sized bowl.
- Add the ingredients in order and place in a greased 9x13 pan.
- Bake for 20 to 30 minutes. If using an 8x8 pan, expect baking time to be around 40 to 50 minutes.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve!
