Flour Tortillas Recipe

Makes 12 servings


Flour Tortillas

Ingredients
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 3/4 oz shortening
1/2 cup water
Directions
  1. sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a large bowl

  2. add shortening and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs

  3. add water to turn into dough

  4. knead dough until smooth

  5. divide into 12 pieces and shape each into a ball

  6. let rest for 15 minutes

  7. roll out each ball into tortialla

  8. cook 1 tortilla at a time for 1-2 minutes on each side

  9. serve warm
