Flour Tortillas
| 2 1/4 | cups flour |
| 1 | tsp salt |
| 1/2 | tsp baking powder |
| 2 3/4 | oz shortening |
| 1/2 | cup water |
- sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a large bowl
- add shortening and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine bread crumbs
- add water to turn into dough
- knead dough until smooth
- divide into 12 pieces and shape each into a ball
- let rest for 15 minutes
- roll out each ball into tortialla
- cook 1 tortilla at a time for 1-2 minutes on each side
- serve warm
