Whole Wheat, Reduced Sodium, Reduced Fat Naan Recipe

Makes 8 servings


Tasty Indian bread. Adapted from a recipe for Naan on www.indianfoodforever.com .

Ingredients
1 cup pastry flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 cup water
1 large egg
2 tbsp oil
Directions
  1. Sift dry ingredients together.

  2. Mix in wet ingredients. Kneed dough until elastic. Dough should not be sticky or pasty. Add more water or flour to alter consistency.

  3. Allow dough to rest 10 minutes. Turn on oven to 450 degrees.

  4. Roll into a rope and cut into 8 pieces. Form balls. Flatten each ball to about 1/2 cm thick.

  5. Place naan on pan and bake until browned and bubbles darken. Serve immediately.
