Basic Beef Stew On a Budget Recipe

A basic beef stew with basic fresh ingredients, when budget cut rump steak is on special. Frozen peas, beans, corn, capsicum can also be thrown in to make the stew more hearty.

Ingredients
1 1/5 kg rump steak, cubed, lightly fried, stewed
400 g onions, halved, sliced, lightly fried, stewed
400 g carrots, sliced, lightly fried, stewed
400 g potatoes, cubed, stewed
3 tablespoons gravy, brown, dry
3 cups water
1 pepper to taste
Directions
  1. Lightly fry onions, carrots, potatoes in a large saucepan, stirring continuously.

  2. In a separate frypan, brown meat and add to vegetables.

  3. Mix 3 tablespoons of dry brown gravy with 3 cups of water and pour over meat and vegetables.

  4. Add pepper to taste.

  5. Bring to boil, then turn to Low heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until meat is tender.
