Spicy Split Peas Recipe

Ingredients
3/4 cup dried green split peas
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp gingerroot
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp cumin
1 small onion
Directions
  1. In 3-quart saucepan, heat 3 cups of water and peas to boiling. Boil uncovered 2 minutes; reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer about 25 minutes or until peas are tender but not mushy; drain.

  2. In 10 inch skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Cook gingerroot, salt, tumeric, cumin, and onion in butter about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender. Stir in peas until evenly coated.
