Pecan and Date Bars Recipe

A sweet breakfast treat.

Ingredients
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup whole-wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
3/4 cup chopped pitted dates
3/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Directions
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flours, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Set aside.

  2. Cream butter and sugars in a large bowl. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until combined. Add dry ingredients and mix just until moist. Fold in dates and pecans.

  3. Spread in a 9x13 inch pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or just until set. Let cool, cut into bars and serve.
