Mel's Cranberry Dark Chocolate Shortbread

Makes 16 servings

Shortbread triangles topped with melted chocolate and dried cranberries!

Ingredients
2 cups flour
3/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup craisins
79 grams Newman's Own Sweet Dark Chocolate
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mix together softened butter and sugar.

  3. Add flour to mixture.

  4. Press dough evenly into 8 x 8 inch square pan.

  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes, or until set but not yet brown.

  6. Remove pan from oven and break chocolate into squares, spreading them evenly over the shortbread (chocolate chips can also be used).

  7. Let chocolate begin to melt over shortbread, then slowly spread with spatula, until even over the surface of the shortbread.

  8. Distribute dried cranberries evenly over chocolate.

  9. Cut shortbread into 16 pieces while still warm, cutting through both the chocolate layer and shortbread.

  10. Let chill in pan in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  11. Remove from refrigerator and re-score cuts, break apart and remove from pan.
