Split Pea Soup Recipe

Submitted by jldrager

Makes 5 servings

Split Pea Soup. I like to add 14 oz of butterball smoked turkey sausage to this. That adds an additional 135 calories to each serving.

Ingredients
1 lb. split peas, dried
64 oz. chicken broth, low sodium
2 medium carrots, diced
2 celery stalks, diced
2 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients in large stock pot and cover.

  2. Slowly bring to a simmer and then cook for 30-45 minutes or until split peas are soft.
