Baked Apples with Oats and Flax Recipe

Submitted by michelleyg

Makes 7 servings

This is a delicious alternative to Apple Pie. You can simplify this even further by omitting ingredients you don't have on hand or substituting your favorite grains such as wheat bran and wheat germ.

Ingredients
7 apples
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tbsp Promise Spread
1/2 cup Oats
1 tbsp Flaxseed Meal
2 tbsp Light Brown Sugar
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Slice apples, with skin and put into a glass casserole dish and with your hands, toss apples with cinnamon and heart healthy butter substitute until apples are lightly coated.

  3. Sprinkle oats, flaxseed meal and brown sugar on top of apples.

  4. Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are soft throughout and dish is brown on top and around edges.

  5. Note: You can substitute 1/4 cup Oat Bran for the Oats.
