I'm 23. 5'6. And have been heavy all my life. I was just chunky till i got a severe case of bronchitis and gained 60 lbs because of the steroids. I have been gaining ever since. My highest was 230 size 22. A couple of years ago I lost 60lbs and got down to a size 14 (13 if I was lucky) but I didn’t do it in a very health way so needless to say I have gained 40 of it back.
I have very little will power, so my doctor told me to make small changes every week and make them part of my routine. Since the changes would be small I wouldn't notice them as much and have more of a focus. And eventually it would start adding up and lead to a healthier and skinnier life style.
So this is my list of things to do and get rid of (made up by me):
Diet:
1) eliminate HFCS (completed Feb 16)
2) eat whole wheat bread and pasta (completed April 20)
3) fastfood only once a month (completed Feb 5)
4) measure out portion size (completed May 1)
5) write down calories for the day ( completed Feb 20....stopped june 10...picked up again july 3rd)
6) eat more veggies (without butter and cheese sause)
7) replace fruit juices with tea (completed may 23)
8) potatoes only once a week (completed April 4)
9) drink at least 32 0z of water a day (completed june 19
10) stop picking at left overs
11) give up my one a day candy bar habit (completed Feb 9)
12) eat breakfast ( completed june 23)
13) replace cheddar cheese omelet with eggs whites (completed june 30)
14) cut out processed sugars
15) eat through out the day and not just at night
16) cut eatting after 10pm
17) Cut out ice cream
18) replace stress and emotional eatting with working out
19) eat only when hungry
20) don't eat just cos the kids are eatting
21) cook healthier versions of favorites
22) try new fruits and veggies
23) No more Bolthouse Farm drinks (completed April 23)
Work Out:
1) move more at work (completed june 23)
2) park farther way (completed may 20)
3) take the stairs (completed may 20)
4) walk 30 minutes
5) ride my bike for 30 minutes every other day
6) lift free weights for 10 minutes
7) lift free weights for 20 minutes
8) jogg for 10 minutes
9) jogg for 20 minutes
10) jogg for 30 minutes
11) workout at least 3 times a week (completed may 20)
12) workout at least 5 times a week
13) workout a least 6 times a week
