Memo: Nest Week's Challenge is Cardio! But walking doesn't count! So basically that includes every machine at the gym, weight lifting, running, sports.
i think walking should still count. it's cardio! some people can't physically run so they walk the best they can. that's my opinion.
I think it should too :( but it doesnt so we will all have to find new fun things to do......guess ill be on my bike alot this week, but i do lift weights and alot of otherthings, however im not gonna stop my walks 4 days a week ill just have to work around it??

If walking doesn't count (that was what I was depending on) then I'm not sure what I'll be doing. It's been raining a lot here lately but the days it doesn't I can get in bike riding. Hopefully Lil'V doesn't want to tag along otherwise I ride so slow an ant can pass me up. Any suggestions for another indoor cardio? Hmmm
Wow, 20.3...that's awesome fellow H4L'ers!!!

I poked around in Slim Seeker's the other day and saw they were talking about jump roping. I looked up jump roping and it says you can burn 1124 (?) calories an hour. I can't do it for an hour but I just found out it doesn't hurt as much as it used to to jump rope. Less wobbling. heeeheee *blush* I guess I can do that in the yard or garage if it rains. Only to add up minutes for the challenge. I do have hand weights but I'm not sure if they raise my heart beat when I use them...it doesn't feel like it. I could be doing them worng though. :(
Well Chris, put me down for the minimum of 30 minutes per day and I'll do my best to get in more. :)
well i know for a fact lifting weights is not cardio but nycolea says it counts!!! so im confused at her definition of cardio.....but figure i will count whateer she says i can count!!!
wow 1124 calories dang....i might need to buy a jumprope!!! but prolly afte 5 min id pass out but worth a try!!!

yea i don't understand either. weights is not cardio. unless you are walking w/ weights! haha. do jumping jacks vk. you can do that at home. would walking lunges count as cardio? those things get your blood movin!
i dont know KT u should ask :) jumping jacks another great idea!!! my hubby says walking lunges ARE cardio so dont know if that helps :)
I had a question here for Head Quarters.
Ok you said Lifting weights counts. So, if during my hour walk I take some weights with me and lift them up and down as I walk that would count right?
There's more than one way to skin a cat

Chris.....I wrote Nycolea a note. I'm sure she will let us know soon.
I don't se HOW she can say no because what's it matter if I lift the weights while I watch tv or while I'm walking.
I would think she would want me to walk and lift the weights not sit and watch tv. Ya know.
The whole idea is to get people moving. Not everyone has machines. Not everyone has a pool etc. Most people can walk.
Not everyone has a bike. See my point. Walking should probabloy always be used as a tool for people to exercise with.
Not many can run or jog. It seemed to me that if a person walks and adds some hand weights or weights somewhere they would be doing something different.
Also, if you have weights in your hands you will most likely be moving your arms more and really doing something new and not just a stroll through a park. ya know.
Do I have any AMENS?
To me it doesn't even need to be asked. Lifting weights count.
I only brought it up so that the people who are sad about loosing their walking would be happy about the twist of using weights while walking.
