Over 200 club
I want to start a club for those of us who have a lot of pounds to lose. Anyone interested?
Lauren-
I know I'm still here! I'm very excited because I just got off the scale and I'm down to 201!! I started on the 2nd at 210. Like you, I realize this trend won't continue, but I'll still be excited if I slow down to 2 pounds a week. I couldn't wait to log on and record my new weight. Hopefully soon I will never see the 200 mark again!! YAYAYAYAYAYAYA. But I'm not going anywhere. I love all the people in this club and they are the ones who have inspired to keep my going. I'm glad that you are still on track as well, and I hope you continue to have success!

I'll dive in here. I'm 42, 5'-11" and weigh 290. It's been a strange road to get here. I was very little in college (about 165) and was diagnosed with what was supposedly Crohn's disease at age 18. Was treated with what the doctor considered an "aggressive" steroid protocol. Today, doctors would consider the amount of prednisone I was given, over the length of time I was given it, to be insane.
I was on pretty regular, heavy, prednisone cycles for nearly 8 years. During that time, I went from 170 to 235. After that, beer drinking and stress have taken me the rest of the way.
I do know that when I quit drinking and take care of myself, just a little bit, the weight falls off. Here's hoping.

Hi everyone,
I'm glad to see this club here. I'm currently at 215 but peaked somewhere in the 230s. My motivation (this time around) is to prepare my body for a healthy pregnancy. This is the first time I've made this much progress and I think it's because I'm going at it from a big-picture approach for the first time. I'm not just cutting calories, but exercising, drinking water, and taking vitamins. And my goal is so much bigger than fitting into that old pair of jeans. When I hit my goal weight, I'm going to enjoy it for a few months before I get knocked up :)

I'm here *waving hi!* Had a weigh loss of 6lbs this week! Yeah sooo on my way, thank goodness. Keep up the good work everyone!
Hello all,
I just started using the wonderful calorie count site to track my food intake and excorcise routine and I love it. Anyway while I was looking around the site I happened upon your thread and was thrilled. I'm currently 405lbs yes that's not a typo. I played football in my youth and built up quite a frame however when I had to stop do to a knee injury I never stopped eating like a lineman. Two years ago I lost over 85lbs on the Atkins diet however like many on that diet when I went off of it I gain all of it back +. I just couldn't do it anymore and so when I fell off of the wagon I felt so bad about myself I just went nuts and ate everything but the sofa. Well most of the sofa anyway. So here I am ready to stat back on the path to health. This time I'm not trying any fad diets or pills just a sensibly way of eating (1600-1800 calories a day with little to no processed foods) and a sensible excorcise routine (90 min 3-4 times a week half cardio half weight training). I would like to say congradulations to all of you that have been so succesful on this thread and I hope to gain some wisdom from all of you.
So here we go Day 1 Week 1 of my time here

Hi! I am 256 lbs as many the biggest that I have ever been. I'm fairy tall (5'8") and have always been curvy. I am 25 years old and a mother of two beautiful girls. When I got married 5 years ago I was 180lbs, by the time I had my first daugther in 2002 I was 220 lbs. I am very realistic about my weight but never realize how much I had gain, I blame my extra pounds for the problems that my marriage has encounter lately and am determined to change it!
Hi everybody. I'm in my mid fifties, 5' 6" and weigh 282 lbs. I consider myself to be a food addict, and like many of you out there, the night time munchies do me in. When I say I'm an "addict" what that means for me is that I am unable to stop overeating, no matter what's at stake. I've wanted to do something about my weight for some time now and have been unable to "diet" for even one day until recently. I've been recording my food and exercise, which I try and do every day and although it's only been a little over a week I feel much better. However, it all seems so overwhelming and I know it's going to take alot of time. I'm feeling really impatient and I don't know how I'm going to make it over the long haul (I have this irrational "expectation" that I should have dropped 20 lbs in a week). I feel those of us who have alot of weight to lose have unique issues and I really like the idea of this club ... hopefully we can offer each other support and encouragement along the way -- I wish we had a format where we could chat in real time. Although at this point I'm just glad to post this and would appreciate hearing from anyone out there who feels like commenting or responding. Thanks for listening and ... be gentle with yourselves ...
wots_next hey if you have a IM we can keep intouch better, i don't have tons of time but i can do my best. maybe we can all start a buddy list i use yahoo IM let me know what everyone thinks
Amanda, wtg on the weight loss...so jealous of your 201...so close to the 1 mark...I will be there soon. I hope to keep a 2 lb a week weight loss also, that is my goal.
imsvicky...great weight loss too...wow. Isnt it fun to see those numbers drop? I know for me the more it drops the more motivated I get.
Good luck to all those who are just starting, I am really finding this site great (although I spend too long in the day sitting on my butt reading tings here).
Tesseract, I have been averaging about that much exercise too, I think it has really helped for me...not to mention I like to eat (dont we all) and this gives me the opportunity to have a little more.
Pleasantly, such a great goal you have for your baby, how awesome!
Crystal, when is your husband supposed to come back? That has got to be hard having him away. How old is your child?
Wots, I do know its going to be hard too but I hope to be here for anyone who needs me and I expect to find people who will be here when I need them. I just keep reminding myself that no one can do this but me and since I am a strong woman, I can do this. I also think that I dont have to deprive myself for the rest of my life, just this year, get through this and then I can eat that cheesecake if I want (just will have to exercise 3 hours that day) :) And, I put on 15 lbs in 3 weeks...why cant I drop it that soon? I want quicker results too but slow results are better than no results.

lauren, my husband is deployed for at least a year, and i got awhile left, my weight gain has increased cause he's gone, and i get bored in the evening time once my boy has gone to bed. My son is 19mths old. I hear you about being able to gain the weight quick, and then not losing it for like ever,. I swear i watch somebody eat cheesecake and i gan 5 lbs. LOL Im just gonna knuckle down and try, its my own lack of self discipline that has got me in this postition. 3mths ago i quit smoking, and that was a breeze compared to getting my discipline undercontrol not to over eat but im gonna give it a try. thanks
Ok, I started my day with my regular bowl of special K and skim milk (of course it is more than 1 cup!) It is almost lunch time so I am already thinking about the wheat bread with butter that I'll have. Snack? a grapefruit. I have to be a little radical with my eating because that is what my weight loss depends on, aside for the walking I HAVE to do to get to/from work everyday there is no more exercising going on... and it won't be, I just can't do it. Does anyone thinks is really possible for me to lose the weight I want by diet alone? Is the exercise I get commutting and doing housework enough?
piggyrod, i have no idea if it will work or not, but at least you are trying, don't give up and see if it will work, plus i heard that 30 minutes of exercise a day makes a big difference and if your cleaning and walking to work well that got to count. keep it, you can do it
thanxs crystal, I am really, really trying.
P.S. I thought I was going to die yesterday when I feed my girls rice and beans and didn't have a spoon :-(

You know piggyrod, I am sure you can lose weight without exercise as long as you keep your calories consumed less than the calories you need to get through your day. Personally I find that cutting my food has me losing more weight than exercising...probably because it is easier for me to cut 1000 calories from my day of eating than it is to burn 1000 calories doing exercises. Of course, from what I read, doing both, cutting back on calories and exercising is optimal.
I 'read' a little of your personal webpage...my spanish isnt very good but I did figure out a few things, it was fun to read, or try to read anyhow. I cant post anything here in Spanish but if I could I would throw a few words of encouragement out.
Anyhow, while you are walking or cleaning or whatever, try throwing in a little extra, maybe pick up the pace on your walk and take the long way or turn on the music and dance a lilte while you clean or cook (music always helps me move a little more, bopping around the kitchen while I cook etc).

hello, I am 210lbs right now. I need to lose 87 pounds. i am in need of alot of help & support from others. anything that works, i am willing to try. I am an asthma sufferer & right now would just like to lose weight bye diet 'till i get some weight off. I am out of breath very quick when i exercise. I am however walking right now. I get out of breath just from that.
I would like to join. I am 5' 7" and at 211 pounds. My goal is around 140, so I have about 70 pounds to go. Wow....
As I read some of the posts I find myself wishing for EVERYONE to achieve his or her goal. We can do this, we need to support each other through cyberspace!
I never thought I would reach 200 pounds, much less exceed it. I remember freaking out when I actually reached 150! I'd give anything to be 150 right now!!
But wishing will get me nowhere.... I need to MOVE my body and burn some calories.... build some muscle.
Good luck to all....

I'm a new member. I am 5'4" and the last time I weighed myself I was at 220 pounds. I was devestated. I have always been overweight, but just knowing that I am this heavy has really caused me to feel down. I will work through that feeling though and do something about it. I started watching my calories yesterday. I really like this web site because you can monitor everything that goes into your mouth, and then monitor all of your activity.. even sitting still watching TV! (I do a lot of that). I also know that I need to loose weight because I have high blood pressure and am borderline diabetic now. (I am 43 - too young to start having weight related medical problems in my opinion!). So, I'm going to browse around and hopefully find some encouragement. :-)
Wots_next: I belive I am also a food addict. Whenever I come home, I head for the frig to see what I can pick on. I was doing this everytime I came home, whether it was from work, from running to the store real quick, whatever. And that was bugging me. Then I realized one day why I do that. When I was a kid, every day when I came home from school, my mom would have something ready for me to eat -- usually home baked cookies. Always the yummy stuff that was fattening. Although we didn't think about those things back then (I'm in my 50s). I found I had to change my way of thinking and start preparing stuff ahead of time that I could pull from the freezer or frig to munch on (2T of lowfat whipped cream stuffed between 2 graham crackers (and then frozen) makes a good quick snack). Being a food addict is hard. Buffets are a downfall. Now I try to stay away from them. I've only been on this site for 2 weeks and counting calories, which I have never done. Its worked for me so far and I dropped a lot of weight already just in these little 2 weeks but I do believe its from watching the calories. I strive to get an A+ everyday. Or at least an A. Its hard, but fun trying. Just keep up with this forum, reading everyone's goals and thoughts. It really helps. I make myself read the blogs at least twice a day to keep giving me strength to do this. This is a great site. And welcome. Also welcome to bschance.
