CLOSED GROUP Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.

So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.

So how about it?

I have an extra pound on me so far this week as well, but I'm thinking it's because I drank NO water yesterday! So bad, I know. Hopefully I'll get it off by Wednesday. :)

Well everyone, I weighed myself this AM and I was 199.6.  It has been so long since I've been under 200.  I just hope it stays that way!!  It really does help me to come here every day and read all the posts.  Hope you all have a great week!

WTG mrsmao!  I watch every morning for a new low number on the scale... I feel like I am playing the lottery waiting for my number to come out..rof  It is just as exciting too!

I am coming to you tonight from a pair of shorts that I haven't been able to get into for 7 years and they are not even tight!!!  I am so happy today!  I feel like $1,000,000 bucks!  This is the smallest my body has been in a long time and I know I will be able to keep going.

Hi y'all, I'm just doing a quick drive-by post to CONGRATULATE MRS MAO!!!

Way to GO, girl!  I was looking back at this thread and was astonished to see that you have lost 8 pounds since July 23rd.  That's amazing!  You've worked so hard for it, and your posts are an inspiration to me.  Way to stay strong and dedicated!  Laughing

Thanks for the kind words!  I've been "trying" to lose weight for a long time, but didn't have my heart in it.  This time though, I just feel different and really want to get this weight off.  My son starts school on Wednesday, so I will have more time during the day to really hit the treadmill more.

I worked out today at the gym for the first time in FOREVER. I had totally forgotten how much I love it. Hopefully I'll be able to afford a membership in the near future.

Not so good news for today though...I had a slice of apple pie that threw my goal of 1500 calories out the window. I'm still below maintenance though, so I guess that's something. :)

I'm really hoping for a smaller number on the scale on Wednesday, but we'll see! Good work everyone.

Hey guys!

Its great to hear how well you've all been doing! I had a terrible overindulgent week, so I've put on weight this week, plus ttom so I'm up 4lbs on last week at the moment....

But now that my annual calorie splurge week is over I feel really motivated to lose lose lose! Though I got off to a bad start by making what I thought was a healthy one pot curry (with chickpeas, butter beans, chicken and a shop curry sauce) then calorie counted it at over 1000cals (who would have thought that a tomato sauce could have so many extra cals packed in to it! serves me right for being too lazy to make it from scratch I guess), putting me at maintenance for yesterday, my first day back on my diet! Oh well.... I'm hoping that by the week after next I'll be down on the 170lbs that I was last week and the damage will be undone.

Today, I finally was back down to 189 after some fluctuation.  Just in time to go out for my anniversary this evening. :)

I'm getting a steak (I'm a texture eater - lettuce is right out), which I know exactly how big it is and all.  Other than that, I'll try to not overindulge too much, though I know I'm not skipping dessert on my anniversary. :)

I have all my snacks purchased for the convention this weekend, I just need to put together some single serving bags and figure out what all is going.  Oh, and I realized I was looking at the wrong marks on my food scale and getting 100 grams of certain things instead of 1 oz.  *facepalms* No wonder I wasn't losing as fast - here I thought the food scale was a good idea!

I'm interested in getting a food scale as well...preferrably a digital one. Any ideas on how much one costs?

Enjoy your anniversary Krilla!   Savor that dessert cause tomorrow it's back to business..lol

Lynn I pick up a nice scale from Target for about $25-$29, can't remember exactly.  It is a bit more than I need as a scale goes since it tells you EVERYTHING you could need to know once you program in the food code, but I don't use it that way.  I just use it to weigh my food.  It is a valuable tool for weight loss and a great kitchen to have just for the sake of cooking.

OK, tomorrow is weigh-in, I hope everyone is ready

~~~sending good vibes to Holsfisher to get those 4 pounds out of there!~~~
I saw 173 twice this week so there is no reason what-so-ever for it to not show up tomorrow!  Good luck to me..lol
Last week - 170lbs, this week - 173.5 lbs....
Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!!! But if I'm strict on my diet it'll be off by the week after next...
Minigoal this week - to stop making minigoals that I don't stick to! But more seriously, to stay under 1500 calories as often as possible and to use my exercise bike for 30 minutes three times.
Good luck everyone else!
Last week 154
This week 153.4
Last week:  184.6
This week:  180.6
Good lord, after 2 weeks of hovering between 184-185, it's about time!  YAY!  My body seems to hang on to fat like it's gold or something and then drop a bunch at once.  I've really been pushing the veggies this past week, though, and it seems to have worked.  Go, team fiber!
In mini-goal exercise news, I am epic fail.  I am embarrassed to say that I exercised a whopping zero times this week.  Congrats to you, Lynners, for getting to the gym!  I need some of your motivation!
Mini-goals this week:
- Exercise at least ONCE for 30 minutes.  (Better than I'm doing now!)
- Pay extra careful attention to calorie intake because I know those numbers could shoot back up if my body decides it's not happy at 180.6 after all.
Krilia, hope you had a good anniversary, and enjoy your convention!
Holsfisher, keep your head up and your thoughts positive!  You've had lots of special events lately, and we all need to enjoy those from time to time.  You're still here, you're still counting, and I believe in you!
Last week: 210
This week: 207.6
I have been insanely busy with work and everything else and have not excercised....even once so I guess I cant complain about the 3lbs gone. So this week the plan is to get my butt on the eliptical and the bike at least twice...
Have a great hump day people!
Happy weigh in day!
LW: 172.8
TW: 172.4
Only 0.4 of a pound...but it's something. I wasn't very good at eating my goal of 1500. Quite a few days I ate just over 1800.
I would really really love to see 170 on the scale next week, but until I go grocery shopping and buy some veggies I don't think that will happen. But we'll see! Hopefully I can get back on track and stop eating yummy desserts (I'm pretty bad, as soon as I've had dessert once, I'll keep having it every night until I kick myself).
Good job everyone on their numbers!
Well, I can at least say that my good dinner must not have been sodium heavy, because I'm at 188 this morning. :D  (Last Week: 190)  So I'm back on track, I hope.
Now on to dieting challenge two - the convention.  I've got my pedometer, for all the walking, I've got my snacks ready to go.  I have a good idea of the calories in the pizza and chicken tenders I will be forced to have for lunch... I know the calories in what I would have at Steak N Shake, which is the nearest non-convention food...
I think I've done all I can.  Everyone have a good second half of the week, and I'll see you on the other side. :)
Last week:  200.6
This week:  199.2
Well, I wasn't great with my mini-goal of no Diet Pepsi or just one every other day.  I still had 1 a day and I drink it at supper and also after I've had most of my 8 cups of water for the day.  I just need it!  Also, my exercise was not as much as it should have been.  But, my son started school this AM and I am going to exercise every AM now.    So, my mini-goal is more exercise and for eating I'm going to try to get more salads in.
I'm hoping to be at 198 next week, then I'll be 10 lbs. down and it's my 47th B-day!  I wanted to lose 10 lbs by then, so I'll work really hard this coming week.
I was 264 this morning BUT 261 last week. I've been slippling with the water and maybe more sodium. So, I'm hoping that will be gone after I get back on track!! It's like I can't get out of the 260s!! What's up with that? I've gotten back into my workout though....weights and hard cardio!!! :-)
173.4 down almost 2 pounds from last weeks weight of 175.2 :)  Mini goals weren't met due to injury.  My knee was feeling sore so I took a day off and only put part effort into a second day just to insure I didn't cause more problems with it.  Now my knee feels great so I will be back to regular workouts.
I am doing great with weight loss so I am sticking with my previous goals, cardio every day 2 sessions @40 mins or 1 session @ 1 hour, along with 3 strength workouts this week.
I am doing a challenge that ends this coming Friday, with a goal of reaching the low 170's by the end ,so I am real happy to have another success there.   Final weigh-in is Friday so I am hoping for 172 to show up on my scale by then.  It will be a new low for me also!  :)  I already have a challenge ready to go for September-October so I can stay motivated.  (I even have a challenge ready to go for November-December & I am beginning to think I have control issues.lol)
I am anticipating my weight loss to continue at a similar pace all the way to my goal, but wonder how realistic this is.  I hear different opinions and experience and wonder how it is going to work out for me.  I keep close watch on my calories in vs. calories out, making sure I burn at least 700 calories more than I consume each day, follow a Zig-zag calorie allotment very strictly so my metabolism doesn't slow down, exercise daily and I have been seeing great results.  At my current weight loss rate of 1.5 pounds a week I should see my current goal weight of 143 by the end of December so I guess I will know the answers to my questions then... rof
Krilia have a great time at the convention!
Mrsmao I workout each morning too, we could check in after our exercise just to keep each other on track, if you want.
New-beginings I think water retention can send the scales up more than we realize.  Whenever we order out I think about the sodium and the scale.  :(
Lynn Good luck to you hitting 170 soon.  I am looking for 170 by the end of August and the 160 are so close I can taste them!
Chantel&Becka those are great losses for the week, wtg.
Triciae  slow and steady wins the race!
Holsfisher  what goes up must come down, keep working at it!
Everyone seems to be doing so good this week!
Last Week: 194
This Week: 192
Okay so I dropped the two pounds that I had gained last week, I'm thinking still that it was a flux from my 'time' and I haven't really lost any more weight, just water.  But I'm still happy to see the scale go down!  Fingers crossed that I can see the scale inch down to 190 next wednesday!
Mini Goal for this Week:  Walking at least 20 minutes every day, above my normal workout routine.
I feel like I need a little workout boost, but I don't want to overdo it and injure myself, so just a little extra cardio to pump up the body!
