spirochete to cyclists: I HATE YOU. I hate you so much and I hate your next 15 generations

I hope your bikes melt down and your little helmets crack and and you lose a bike seat up your butt.

Do you ride on the bike path RIGHT NEXT TO THE STREET? HELL NO! You ride right in the street and hold up traffic.

Do you ride single file as traffic goes by? HELL NO! You ride in pairs while blocking traffic and we're all at your mercy driving at bicycle speed for miles on end.

Do you ride in a responsible manner? HELL NO! You cry that you have just as much right to the street as I do in my car yet you run EVERY SINGLE stop sign, turn without signaling and whatever illegal maneuvers you can think up while wearing a Doritos branded spandex team shirt.

I seriously hate cyclists so much.

In Phila bikers are pretty standard but everyone hates the side-walk riders. They go flying by/in to people who are walking on the sidewalk. Illegal AND irritating.

Please all of you go to The Oregonian's website (www.oregonlive.com) RIGHT NOW and check out the lead article about a drunken cyclist assaulting a motorist with his bike.

Essentially the cyclist was doing some of the stupid crap we've been complaining about, and the motorist who happens to be a big cycling advocate, caught up to him and told him off for making cyclists look bad, and an altercation ensued...

I think the %age of dipsh!ts going helmetless is actually increasing around here. What is WRONG with people? I really, really don't want to have to scrape brains off my car when some imbecile disobeys all the laws of man and physics sans helmet.

Grr

Well trhawley, if the 40 of them want to ride as a little Dorito/Tide/Snapple army, I'm sure they can ride single file and stop at the signs like the rest of us.

LMAO! you just made my day.... Dorito/Tide/Snapple Army.... good one.. haha

I wish I could ride my bike to work...gas prices blow. I still see point that Some hog the road.. but for the most part all that bikers in my rural town hug the side of the road and if a cars comming a tail behind them going slow and wait the two seconds to pass them..

Somtimes when I'm late for work its annoying though.. But esp. with the economic times some people just have to bike.. i'll be one of them soon.

I live in the country, not the suburbs "the hi all my neighbors are farmers" country.

Do you have the same problem with tractors that take up most of the road and don't go anywhere near the speed limit?

I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cow's piss me off too.... get out the road!!!!! i'm going to intentionally hit a cow someday..

Well, since riding on sidewalks is illegal. Trails go nowhere. And shoulders are often full of glass/debris, etc. where do you motorists propose we ride?

I cycle a couple hundred miles a week. I stay as close to the line or on the line at all times. I stop at stop signs, signal, only ride two abrest when in rural areas. To the idiot that said if they were a cop they would only give citations to cyclists, ha, you're a joke. Try giving citations to all the people that pass cyclists on double yellows--you'll be busy for a while. To the OP; congratulations, you've epitimized why all cycists hate you.

As much as you hate cyclists, I hate cars. I honestly don't see how slowing down from 55 mph to 50 mph is going to devestate your life; or heaven forbid, waiting for oncoming traffic to clear.

I can genuinely say, that if I had a gun on my bike, I'd have shot out so many rear windows for all of the jacka$$ drivers on the road.

So drivers: I'm sorry that I'm in better shape, follow the rules of the road, have a quality called patience, and don't emit greenhouse gases.

hey slampe, no one cares if you have the physique of a Greek god ok and I certainly don't care what gases you emit. This thread is about cyclists who make the roads a nightmare for everyone else. If that's not you, freakin awesome. If you don't slow 55mph traffic down to 20mph so you can ride along side your BFF I love you.

I have to ask, what exactly did I say in the OP that makes cyclists hate me? Is it the fact that if I expect them to abide by the same rules of the road that I'm held to? What did I say that was different from that?

Front page "news" on MSNBC.com for you.

Surprisingly unbiased article.  It seems to blame both cyclists & motorists.

No one ever said motorists don't do dumb things, because they do.

This is the thread for ranting about cyclists and how much they suck. I almost killed a guy the other day (literally) and I would have been so mad at him if I did.

I was at a stop sign, right turn signal on. I stopped, then went to make my right turn. This idiot flew past all the cars at the stop sign and went straight through the stop sign as I'm making my turn. Had I not slammed on the brakes, he'd be dead and I would have raised him back up from the dead and killed him myself.

I saw a group of cyclists get totally clogged up by a bunch of rude walkers taking up the entire bike path earlier this week. It made my day.

It's alive, it's alive, it's alive...IT'S ALIVE!!!

haha

slow walkers are what annoy me, I'm not a motorist so I haven't really experienced any bad cyclists.

spiro, i saw a cyclist stop at a four-way stop yesterday, and i thought of you ;)

it's the full moon.

Spiro: I think you are fighting a losing battle, girl. Evidently a lot more folks out there are parking and cycling - it will only get worse for you, I'm afraid.

Get used to it because bikes are increasing in numbers

KG:  Don't be so sure.  Us defiant motorists will band together to defeat the cyclists in the U.S.' Second Civil War.

I'm gonna start running down the middle of the bike path in an erratic manner while blaring 80s music through my earphones so I can't hear cyclists trying to pass me

ILLUSTRATION

Yesterday I was on my bike, in the bike lane, and almost got taken out by a bus who went to cross the bike lane to get to the curb to the busstop, fair enough but problem is I was IN the bike lane at the time right beside him and had nowhere to go to get out of the way. Yikes. I made him open the doors to yell at him when he stopped.

Then this morning I was again biking in the bike lane when another cyclist came up and passed me from behind (IN the bike lane, without even saying "on your left" or any warning, we both coulda smashed) then flew threw the turning-red light and then abruptly changed directions to turn left, not in the left turning lane and not crossing as a pedestrian would, but in some other wacky maneuver that I am sure was not legal. Yikes again.

So basically stupidity and carelessness is rampant amongst all types of travellers. Trouble is, as a cyclist, even when I am in the right in an accident situation I am still injured or dead so what good is it. What is the point of a bike lane if nobody respects it?

Wild and crazy idea, but there are bikers out there who obey the rules of the road (me) and are terribly afraid every time we ride because we've had so many close calls where people who are in cars almost take our lives as we are safely peddaling our way to work. I can't tell you how often I've had a car almost hit me while riding in the bike lane -- it's like people don't give a fudge about anyone else these days. It's all me me me me ME ME ME ME MEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEMEME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!

I wear a helmet, I signal, I stop at lights and stop signs, I have mirrors on my handle bars, and I wear bright clothing to remain visible.

I also burn fat, not fuel, which is an earth friendly gesture. I also will never kill someone with my bike in an accident. I follow the rules of the road.

hee hee kudos for the artwork spiro :)

LOL I laugh because I know your sense of humour by now

Yesterday I nearly nailed one that was using the bike lane then suddenly veered into the CROSSWALK to use it to cross the street. In the middle of traffic. The crosswalk is for pedestrians, you moron! Cyclists around here pretend they're cars when it suits them, and pedestrians when it suits them. They randomly pop off and on side walks, use crosswalks, have at least a 50% chance of being red-green color blind (as determined by the way they view lights and stopsigns). Last week I saw one riding on the left side of the roadway instead of in the bikelane (on a one way street). What? I liked the idea in the MSNBC article of making them get licenses and license plates. Then at least you can penalize the evildoers and helmetless.  Grrr
