Leila 2 pounds, that is awesome! I knew you would stick to it, and things would happen. If you try on the skirt and it doesn't fit, don't worry it will soon. Strut your stuff in the pants that fit nice now. Keep it up girl, I am so proud of you. The Father's day plans sound great, hope you all enjoy them very much. My Dad passed away when I was only 21 years old. I don't know if you ever heard of Laconia bike week in NH, it is when thousand of Harley's get together and enjoy a vacation. It has always started the wed before dad's day and ended on dad's day, but this year it has been changed to start on dad's day and go for a week. For many years I have been going from Thursday until fathers day, but this year it will only be for the day ( Saturday after this). My other half also golfs and he will do so early in the morning on Father's day, he has the first tee time at 5:30 a.m., so he will be home by 10:00a.m. When he gets home we will jump on the bike and ride for the day, with a bunch of friends.

Julie we don't always talk about weight only, we share whats going on in our lives as well. Feel free to write about as much or as little as you like.

Alison has gone away I hope she is having a great time.

HOORAY for Leila, a loss of 2 pounds for the week is great!

Lori    ( my loss for the week is 1 pound, after screwing up I cant complain)

Thank you, Lori, i feel great and  thank you for your support, girls. I wouldn't do it without you!!! I will try this skirt and will let you know how far am i from wearing it Smile

I have heard about this Laconia bike week because every Father's Day i saw thousands of bikes on the road. Wow, that's probably amazing feeling to ride the bike. I had this experience once when i was 24 years old and it was with my friends in Germany. He had Honda motorcycle and we were " flying" with incredible speed. That was something.... still remember that i was shaking a little and couldn't catch my breath for a while Tongue out My husband and his father had a tee time at 3.00 and i guess they are going to play all day, as always.

1 pound is great, Lori !!! Congratulations! Well, we will hear about Alison probably on Monday. We are doing good, girls!

Hi Everyone,

Went to the gym this morning, had a nice workout. Stayed way under my cal limit yesterday, so made up for the other day.

Jumping in the shower now, then hopping on the bike (motorcycle) to go see the babies. My daughter got a new living room set today, and wants to show it off.

The weather is perfect, so I hope to also go walking with the little ones. Burn, burn, burn the calories.

Hope you girls have a great weekend.

Hi,

I went to the gym this morning too and spend good 30 minutes on bicycle and 30 minutes on elliptical machine. It's raining outside and it's still hot, so i guess i will take many showers today. We are going grocery shopping in couple minutes, it is burning calories too. I was in my calorie range yesterday and going to stay there today. Enjoy your day with the babies, Lori!!!

have a nice week-end

Leila

I walked a mile and a half early this morning. I also cleaned off the back deck this afternoon for two reasons - it needed it! and to get more exercise and a little sun on my arms :-)
Since starting on a better eating plan 6 days ago, I hadn't eaten out. Last night at a restaurant, I had broiled tilapia, salad.. no fries!  We got a blooming onion and that was really bad. I hadn't had one in years! I used a napkin to blot some of the grease, but I know I went over my limit.  Not gonna beat myself up about it... eating well today!

I watched the movie, The Jane Austen Book Club, last night. I liked it!

Anywho... hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Personal note: I am divorced mother of three. Oldest at age 22 lives on her own; middle daughter is nearly 16, son is 14. Two youngest are with their dad for the weekend.  I am trying to accomplish a few projects while they're away.

Hello girls,

Walking is great, Julie. I really miss it, walking every day. I used to live in the big city and didn't need a car, we used metro, buses and were walking a lot. Now instead of walking, we use car. And sometimes i would like to walk but there are no special roads for that. What i do, i park my car as far as possible when i go to the mall Smile And then i go the gym and use treadmeal a lot. Was it Outpack the restaurant you went? Yes, i used to like their onions but then i saw how many calories it has and don't eat it anymore. I have been  there couple weeks ago and they had specials with smaller portions and with a lot of vegetables. But once in a while i think you can go over the limits, everybody does probably.

I haven't watched this movie, but i should check it, i like Jane Austen.

have  a nice week-end

Lela

Lela,
You are a faithful poster here!
I belong to the YMCA, and usually my son goes with me. This past week, we went only once as school ended and schedules were topsy-turvy. I didn't do morning walks at home either :-(

Anyway, at the Y, I do strength training and about 2 miles on a treadmill, 2-3 times per week. This summer, I want to kick it up a notch. I have been thinking about adding a Yoga video (Y's classes meet weird times and are packed!)  And then there's the gasoline expense!

Anyone use a good Yoga video I should try? I should look at the video store, rent one to test it, huh?

Yes, Julie, I am. I started it and get a lot of support from the girls here. So i like to chat with everybody.

As i told you i go the gym and there are many group exercise you can choose from. I really like only two : body step and body pump. I was going to yoga class for a month, but really didn't like it. Maybe it's a good idea to try it first, to rent DVD. All people are different and maybe you will find it interesting. Actually i used to do aerobics for 10 years before, but it was different from everything you can find here. It was like an old Jane Fonda aerobics with a lot of strength exercises. I was trying to find something similar here, but couldn't. So now i found on amazon Jane Fonda DVD with aerobics and i really  can't wait to start working out.

have a good rest of the week-end

Leila

Hi Girls,

I had a busy but fun day at my daughters. We had a BBQ so it was hard for me, but I did make good food choices. Chicken would normally be my last choice at a BBQ, but I had it and it was very tasty (lots of spices). I also had grilled veggies and watermellon.

Julie do you have on demand cable? If so they have all kinds of workouts 24 hours a day. They have yoga, although I have never tried it.  I am also a divorced mom of three, have been  with the man of my dreams for the past 9 years. My oldest is 24 (only girl), she is married to the most wonderful guy in the world, I couldn't have hand picked a better guy for her. They own a beautiful home about 30 minutes from us. They have two boys ages 2 1/2 and 1 week. Middle child is 22, he will be having a daughter in Sept, not in the best of situations but what can you do. My baby is 18, off to UMASS Lowell this coming Sept. Glad you have joined us we work good together here. Don't feel bad about going over your calorie limit once in a while, it's o.k. as long as you get back on track quickly. I was kicking myself in the ass the other day for that, but it's not worth it.

Leila sounds like you had a good workout today. I don't know how you do the elliptical machine, I find it very hard. I can to the treadmill or bike for an hour with no problem at all, but just haven't gotten the hang of elliptical yet. It takes less time to burn calories with that, so I wish I had better luck there. Jumping rope is one of the ways to burn calories really fast, so I went out and bought a good one at an athletic store. I thought I could do it for hours, what a joke that was. You have to jump without the little hop in the middle, wow is that hard. Jumping lasted two days for me lol

Hope everyone had a great Saturday, and that Sunday is relaxing for all.

Lori

Hi everybody,

I have really busy day ahead today.  I am going to stay in my calorie range, but i won't be able to go to the gym today. I have really good workout yesterday and i like elliptical machine, but i started from 10 minutes and then just added more and more. It is not easy and you are right, Lori. You burn the largest amount of calories on this machine. Try to start like i did, from 10 minutes and then just add time every time you are in the gym. I want to add body pump to my gym routine, but i am not sure if i will be able to get there in time for the class. Sometimes because of the traffic i come home at the time when the class starts or later. But i will try. Oh, i didn't not use jumping rope for a long time, maybe i should try this too. Maybe i will remember how i did this when i was younger Tongue out

Sounds like you really had great time with your daughter and her family. Does she feel better now? How is the baby doing?

enjoy the rest of your week-end

Leila

Everyone seems to enjoy their classes, my gym is no frills, they don't offer any classes. I think I might follow Julies lead and try yoga at home, just for something different. Today was the first time I woke up hurting from a workout the day before, so no gym for me. I have stayed under my limit today, so I may have a snack later. Leila maybe I will try the elliptical tomorrow, if I do I will let you know how it goes. Alison are you back? I hope you enjoyed your weekend, looking forward to you next post.

Weather is gloomy and cool today, a nice break after the heatwave. Went to my other half's sisters today, everyone met there for Dad's day. It is now almost 8 p.m., and I plan on having a lazy night in front of the T.V.

Hope everyone has a great night, sweet dreams ( but not to sweet, watch the calories).

Lori

Hello everybody,

I tried couple different classes on TV on Demand. I like some of them, but the only bad thing about it, that the classes that you like don't last for a long time.So i bought couple DVDs on their website, exercises on demand i think.

Yesterday was really busy day, we went shopping with my mother in law and were shopping for 4 hours. I was so tired at the end and besides it was still hot,in 90s. I was also hungry when i came home but i needed to cook dinner, so i ate only at 7 o'clock. My husband was playing gold all day and came home at 9 o'clock at night, also tired. So i guess i burned some calories shopping yesterday and besides that, i was under my calorie range so i had  frozen yogurt at the end of the day.

Let me know how did it go with elliptical, Lori. The secret is to start slowly and adding time you spent on the machine.

We miss  you Alison, where are you? Smile

have a nice day

Leila

Hi,

I haven't started up on the elliptical or tried the yoga yet. I'm a little discouraged this week, I've been staying under my calorie limit and working out. Not only am I not losing weight I am gaining. I am pretty sure I know the reason, the only thing that I have changed is adding more weight on the machines. I know muscle weighs more than fat and that is probably the reason, but I don't like the numbers at all.

I'm looking for opinions. Should I wait until I get down to my goal weight to work harder, or should I keep doing what I'm doing and be happy that my muscles are stronger? It makes sense to work harder, but I really wanted to see 105 lbs one more time in my life. I really value your opinions so please help me out here, thanks.

Leila what on demand workouts do you suggest I try, do you have a favorite? You mentioned that they don't last a long time, that will probable work good for me lol I know when I tried them before, I couldn't do the whole thing.

Did Alison and Julie give us up? I hope not, it's nice to have others with the same goals here.

Lori

Hi girls,

I stayed under my calories yesterday, but couldn't go to the gym. It was raining so hard that i really didn't want  to go out of the house, it was thunder and wind.  I am planning to go to the gym today after work.

Lori, i think that it's great that you gain muscles, you will be toned and strong. My husband knows about this, he has read couple books about loosing weigh and gaining muscles. He tells me all the time that i shouldn't really look at the scale, because when you are gaining muscles instead of fat, you are gaining weight.Maybe you added too much weight on the machines? I would say try to put a little less weight and see how it will go. When i worked with personal trainer couple years ago, she told me that i need to watch how much weight i put on strength machines. I think you should keep doing what you are doing now, just watch how much weight you put on the machines.  I tried couple different classes on Demand. They had Star trainers couple months ago, i liked them, i even bought their DVDs. This program is not there anymore. Now i like classes of different trainers who help to movies stars to be in good shape. They have really good exercises on all groups of muscles. I can look up the names of the classes for you if you want.

I was thinking about Alison too, she said  in her last post that she will be back here on Monday. I hope everything is all right with her.

Leila

Hi everyone, I'm back!  We had a wonderful vacation, very relaxing, and the weather was beautiful.  I did fairly well with eating!  The new habits I've been forming while posting here kicked in, and while I may not have lost, I definitely didn't gain.  I just don't feel like overeating or snacking my heart out anymore.  It was a real change for me.  LEILA:  Yay!  Wasn't it all worth it?  I'm so proud of you for hanging in there!  2 pounds is great!  This was the biggest thing on my mind when I came back to check the post.  I was afraid if you hadn't lost, you might give up :-)  So I'm very happy.

Julie, hi - so nice to see someone new on the boards!  I'm 42 (almost 43)  and it's funny that we should be talking about menopause, cause I just missed my time of the month for the first time ever and I'm not pregnant.  So I might be in the early stages.  I'll look at the book you recommend at the bookstore.

I'm glad everyone had a nice fathers day - I got up early and made a nice brunch for the family and we ate out outside looking at the beach.  Then I didn't want my husband to do any work so I packed us all up and cleaned the rental - we had lunch watching the cruise ships board (salad and ahi tuna - no bread!) and came home where I unpacked, took care of the little one and wouldn't let hubbie do a thing.  I was SO exhausted :-) It took me yesterday to recover, that's why I didn't write!

Sorry, long post - Mackenzie (my 2 year old, Julie) is taking swim lessons at the Y at 1:00 every day for the next 2 weeks, so it's a good excuse to go every day!  I can't do my class but I can hop on the eliptical and burn, burn burn.  I'll weigh myself today and see if I did any damage.

Great to be back everyone - I missed you guys!

Alison

Hi Alison,

I am really glad that you are back, we missed you. Sounds like you had great vocation with your family. Yes, i am so happy that i lost these 2 pounds, thank you for thinking about me and thank you for your and Lorri's support. I wouldn't do this without you !!!

I have pretty good week-end too,i went shopping with my mother in law on Sunday and came home in 4 hours, i was exhausted but happy. Found couple cute things. You know, i feel the same way, i don't feel like overeating anymore. And i am not afraid to go out for dinner, because i know that i can always have half of portion and that will be enough for me, and i won't go over my calorie range.

It's great to have you back, Alison!!!

have a great day

Leila

Hello everybody,

I had a good workout last night, spend 45 minutes on the treadmill walking uphill. I was under my calories 300 calories, so i had couple snacks. Every time after the workout i feel really good about myself that i did it. Because sometimes after work i really don't feel like going to the gym. My weigh in is on Friday, so we will see.

hope everybody have a wonderful day

Leila

Hi Leila - good for you, making yourself go to the gym.  I know it's hard, but it feels extra good when you go anyway. I went on Tuesday, but couldn't squeeze it in today - too many errands to run.  I weighed myself on Tuesday and I was 128, so I gained .25 a pound, which I don't think is too bad for having been on a long weekend at the beach.  I guess I'll weigh myself on Friday, too.  I really want to hit that 127 mark, so I'll do the elliptical until I'm sweating like a maniac.

Lori - I read your profile and was curious if your stomach has gotten flatter with your weight loss?  I have a lower belly "pooch" as well that never seems to get flat, even when I'm at a low weight.  Has anyone on Calorie Counters given you any advice on this?  I can't really wear the new, flowy shirts that are in fashion right now, because I truly look pregnant in them!

Ok everyone, have a great night.

Alison

Hi girls,

I am going to the gym tonight after work. It is so crowded lately at the gym, when i come i can't find elliptical machine. I should do something else while waiting for it. I guess it is very popular. I didn't go to the gym yesterday though, had  a lot of stuff to do at home. I had the problem with my belly too, but  doing strength exercises for stomach muscles really helps. In the gym they have special equipment for that, it looks like inclined bench, where you hook your feet on the top and do crunches. I do the same thing at home, only with the chair.

have a nice day everybody

Leila

Hi girls,

Alison the belly did get smaller, even though  the weight loss is a small amount.  The advice that I got was to lose the fat, before doing a lot of ab  exercise. Reason being that if you gain the muscle with the fat still there, you will actually look fatter because the muscle under  the layer of fat appears to push the fat further out. So I did listen and worked on losing while doing minimal ab workouts, once I lost the first five I added to the ab workout. My belly is not flat but with close on everyone thinks it is. Good enough for now,  still working on it. Glad you enjoyed your long weekend, and you did great.  I didn't even go away and I had a bad week. I don't know why, I did everything right and still gained. I'm trying to convince myself that it is only because I am gaining more muscle, which is probably true. Still doesn't feel good to look at the scale, and see the number get higher. I'm hoping that tomorrow I have a good number to share with everyone. Glad to see you back on here, have a good day.

Leila your doing great, I think you are the one that has been to the gym most often lately, good work keep it up. I'm the same way when it comes to feeling good after a workout, it seems to give me energy for the rest of the day. Today is the BBQ day with all my kids and the grandkids together, hope I can manage to stay under my limit. Part of me just wants to eat everything and not worry about calories for the day, but I do realize that doing that would take away my deficit for the whole week. Since my deficit this week is far from great, I will watch what I eat today.

Enjoy today everyone, will be back on tomorrow to see how we all did.
