I have looked for twins and poked around other groups without finding a real support group.
I am 48, 5'5", SW 151, CW 134, GW 128
I am the school teaching mother of three in their upper teens, wife of my 3 lbs from goal hubby.
SO...
Anyone interested?
Ok girls I have got to break my pina colada habit!!!!!! I weighed this a.m. and was 136 but you know they show up a day or two later. Anyway I'm enjoying these little "pina parties/pina cleanings" just a bit too much! I'm going to continue my cleaning spree pina FREE today!
You know I probably won't get nearly as much accomplished! I had all the windows open and had on hip hop type music just cleaning and dancing (exercise) but started thinking hmmmm I wonder what/if my neighbors see this old geezer looking woman dancing in her living room....when the houses start going up for sale I'll know I was being observed!!! LOL Well they're lucky I wasn't singing along a well!!!! Well off to "dust a move"!!! That's a 48 year old hip hop term now! Have a great Monday friends!!!
Connie you can be my neighbor anyday!![]()
Sorry I was AWOL yesterday. It was a beautiful day so we were out! Out running around exhausting my puppies, out picking up winter's downed branches from the yard, out putting a few hardy herbs in pots...out, out, OUT!
Now I am back to work (OK, right now is my break, but you know what I mean) and this is going to be a GREAT week!
1) lost 4/10ths lb over the weekend.
*takes a bow*
2) My principal took my 8th grade on their field trip to California this year (his daughter is in the class) so I not only don't have to be gone from my family for a week (I have done the trip the last two years), I get to be principal for the week! WHEEE! Start late, end early, classes outside, plenty of FUN!![]()
3) the kids he took are the "thorns in my side" this year. ESP his daughter!![]()
So I feel like dancing around too...and I am stone cold sober!
Sue, for Mother's Day we usually eat out on Saturday or Monday to avoid the jam in the restaurants. Both our moms are 1200-2500 miles away, so I get all the spotlight.
Not sure where we will go, Red lobster has really healthy choices...but I kinda prefer a local fish joint (better drinks
), but then again the Melting Pot is to die for...or maybe the Indian place? (oh Alison, the Indian food in London! mmmmm!) so I don't really know. But I like thinking about it!
Hope you all are destined for a light and lovely week!
*bump*
anyone out there??????????
*sniff*![]()
Don't feel abandoned Alylou... we are still here -- just slacking a little!!! ![]()
I have a question for you folks. I am looking for food ideas -- no surprise there, after literally "living large" for so long. However, I feel tired of the same ole things. My children are teen/pre-teen age and generally ravenous most of the time as well as still growing (and thin as a reed I might add <sniff>). My husband is not on the band-wagon to lose weight although he needs desparately to diet... I figure he will need to get his head in that mode as I can't make that leap for him and he seems undisturbed by his overweight status (just buys bigger clothes).
OK, now that I have whined a little... I would love to hear what your favorite foods / receipe might be as I am tired of mine!!! I will also share. I made spaghetti for dinner recently and added lean turkey burger meatballs. I make my spaghetti sauce from scratch usually (in all my spare time)! I ate 2 meatballs (golfball size) with sauce over steamed broccoli and cauliflower and really didn't miss the pasta. Tonight will be beef stew - crock pot simmering away as we speak as tonight is boyscouts for the boys and soccer pratice for my daughter; so a flat out race from morning til bedtime. I will probably stick with the beef and celery/onion/carrots even though I put potato's in, etc. One of my absolute favorites is grilled portabello mushroom topped with carmelized onion, roasted red pepper, sauted spinach & garlic and some crumbled feta inserted. If I have hummus handy I will sometimes spread a layer of hummus on the mushroom before I put the other cooked ingredients on it. I also find a couple scrambled eggs with fresh steamed veggies thrown in and a little salsa on top, makes a good fast meal when there are only minutes to squeeze something in.
So what do you "guys" have for favorites that aren't wildly calorie laden? I love to cook, but sometimes just never expend the energy to find new recipes. I have also started experimented with a crock pot so if anyone has good crock pot meals I would love to hear that too.
Cheers, skn

aw, now you went and made me sad, Alylou (just kidding). Cheer up - we're all still here. I'll come back on and write more later.
I'll send a recipe for SknSue, too.
Connie - did you get anything done sans pina colada?
more later, Sue
Hiya Skin!
Cooking....Well I am a big fan of Salmon grilled in foil with lemon and dill or under the broiler with Penzey's Rocky Mountain Seasoning and lime juice. Roast beef is so easy to make and is so light in calories we have it often. Veggie lasagna was good last week...I'm thawing a turkey breast to "smoke" on the grill this weekend, but tonight is pot roast in the crock pot. We live in pork country, so we eat plenty of it, the Hormel marinated loins are easy, but I like to get lean cuts and sear slices in a hot nonstick pan with a touch of olive oil, some seasonings, (depending on my mood it might be Indian, Chinese, or even Russian spices) and a mess of veggies. Oh and shrimp! we love shrimp: scampi, or fajita or skewered, all are healthy options.
That touch off any creative juices?
Hi Sue (you posted while I was composing!) Didn't intend to make you sad...just guilty!
LOL I always griped about my Mom's guilt trips, now I find I can put hers to shame! Help!
Alylou
Hi my friends!
Yes I ALMOST finished my spring cleaning spree without pina's but started having pain in my leg...ended up being a cyst..nothing serious just painful so I've yet to do my ULTRA SCRUB CLEANING of my kitchen! Gosh I can come up with my own excuses not to do these kinda things but my body decided to give me a REAL excuse...so anyway I'm on antibiotics for a few days and feeling kinda yukky and tired but OH SO HUNGRY!!!!! Have snacked on "healthy" (for the most part) stuff all day...Just added up the calories and have already hit 1000 and haven't had dinner yet
not to mention any exercise! As far as recipes from me girls I probably won't be of much help since I am by myself with only cats...I eat the easy stuff for one! I have noticed I lose more if I really add in the fiber. The go lean crunch cereal by Kashi with skim milk is a good one for breakfast and is filling. I also love my pasta dishes but the ones I really love I can't indulge in due to calories so I try and make a spaghetti with wheat noodles buy the sauce like Paul Neumans marinara and add mushrooms green peppers onions garlic and occasionally just a tiny bit of very lean burger. Then I have a salad with the spritz dresing (italian) and 2 slices of natures own twice the fiber wheat bread and spray it with I can't believe its not butter spray! Try that spray it is really good and has 0 fat 0 calories. ONLY the spray! You can use it for many things and it really does taste like butter. Ok thats it for my skills for today. I've missed chatting so I will catch up with everyone maybe tomorrow! Oh by the way Aly good job on the Mom guilt trip!!! Seems we all are perking up and writing huh?????
SMILES to you all!!! Connie
*bows for guilt trip praise*
Hey connie, I tried those jimmy dean sandwiches...YUM! I had one for lunch and felt full well into the afternoon. Cool!
By the way...when your done there in N.C. could you swing by Wisconsin and polish up my house?? please??![]()
Alison, I have been wondering about you, how are things going? Are you hanging in there? We're still thinking about you!
I broke through 130lb this morning! 129.8 The clouds parted, doves flew, harps played, angels sang!!!
Hey All!
Connie, when you are done with Alylou's house, come on out to Arizona. The weather is great and I'll even dust while you vacuum! :)
Alylou -- unbelievable job on your new 120ish size figure! WOW! So happy for you. Now . . .when are you and Connie and Alison gonna' post some pictures for us to see? Hmmm? I have my big ol' body on my site for all to see (getting smaller, too) so I think you all had better get with the program. Plus, that way I won't feel like I'm messaging a "frog", a "kitty" and a "question mark" (your icon pictures). You can even post pictures privately just for your friends to see, did you know that?
Ok - I am going to go try my bicycle this morning. I've only ridden it once in about 5 years. The last time I rode (well actually I rode a couple of days that time), but it ended in me being startled by a little dog that ran out of a house, and that made me hit hard into a curb, tumble off, and bang up my knee something fierce. I even had to have it checked by the doctor because the swelling and bruising were so bad. So, gulp, I'm going to try again today. First I have to dust it off, clean the cobwebs and air up the tires, though. See, Connie, I'm spring cleaning - it's just in the garage not the house!
Take Care everyone. SUE
OK Sue - I did it just for you!!!!!! My piccie with 11lbs still to go. If you go to my profile (in the gallery) I have a piccie of what I looked like a couple of years ago when I was 11lbs lighter!!
OK I'm severely traumatised now so I'm gonna turbo jam to BURN THOSE CALORIES!!!!!![]()
EDIT: PS if you wanna know why I was laughing so much you would have to ask my 20 year old son who is standing behind my husband making "inappropriate gestures"!!
I'm returning from AWOL status! I had a bad, bad, bad 3 weeks--totally reverted to old eating habits, hardly did any exercise. I finally decided that undoing all my hard work was just stupid (self-sabotage much?), so I screwed up my courage and stepped on the scale for the first time in 3 weeks on Monday to see how bad the damage was.
I didn't gain a thing.
I totally couldn't believe it. I feel like I got a special dispensation from the Weight-Loss Fairy. I thought maybe my scale had broken or something. But the scale at the gym gave me a consistent reading yesterday. This morning I got on and I was down a pound for my new (this time around) low of 155.5. I'd be happier if I was down 3-5 lbs (like I probably would be if I hadn't gone off the rails for three weeks)--but I'll take it. And it's motivating me to get back on track. My birthday is next month and while I don't think I'll be at goal, I could be real close--definitely out of the 150s.
My new friend at the gym is the elliptical. I shied away from that thing because it looked too much like running and I'm lucky if I can run down to the end of the block without dying--but strangely enough, I can get a pretty good workout on it--better calorie burn than the stationary bike or the treadmill--and it's easy on my creaky knees. I just wish I wasn't the only one in the gym sweating like a pig.
SknSue, I'll have to think more about recipes--we've been keeping it really simple, just because the kids' activities keep us running around several evenings a week. Not to mention we haven't been eating all that right for almost a month, now. But when we're being good, we rely heavily on our grill--for chicken, fish, lean pork--throw a salad together and call it dinner.
Editing to add: Aly--aren't you at goal now?? (if not, you're really, really close!) Woo hoo!
Welcome back Soph! ...wow fairy indeed! that was some powerful spell she put on you!! not a thing, well I think if it had been me off the wagon, ermm... 7lb is my guess!
Thanks a bunch Alison. (not) I was going to blithly ignore Sue and pretend I just NEVER SAW THAT POST. but no, you had to go and post a nice thin picture. grrr.![]()
OK I now have a gallery. you can see me at my worst. wow, that picture is just disturbing! and pretty close to where I am now. Thought it funny that I'm wearing the same hat..loved that hat, but it died on the way home from spring break. I did keep them just for friends though. I have a former student roaming around this site, so having my picts public makes me squeamish.
As for GOAL: my original goal was 132, but as I lost I adjusted it to 128, mostly just to see if I could ever be that light again! so I'm close but I am going to stick it out till 128...if for no other reason than to have a super skinny pict to post for you all!!!![]()
Ok girls i'll be right over to clean as soon as I finish with my kitchen and my Mom's house!!!!! That should probably be around 2010! LOL Great pictures you guys! Congrats on the success rates going on here and Soph could u maybe send that fairy my way!!!! I'll have to get my friend to take some pics of me and then have him put them on here or show me how! I would really like to get all of your opinions anyway about my hair. For my age and all I have let it grow for over a year now and it is down to the bottom of my bra strap(kinda feathery bang on top) I'm feeling like it isn't fitting my age any more.....I'll let ya know when I get some pictures! Have a great evening/day
Connie
Alylou - my picture - nice thin!! (you're kidding - there was a reason I didn't stand side on!! LOL) unlike your wonderful side on piccie - really slimline!!
Still, the best thing about the picture I had taken today was I was laughing. Hey doc: no anti depressants {says Alison poking her tongue out at the GP and feeling all happy with herself!}
Other funny thing about my picture is I've got my home-made door "sausage" (draught excluder) LOL!!!! Oh well, what are old curtains for anyway!!
See ya later - done some turbo jam - knackered now.
Well, I just got home from my physical at the doc's...she had to write down the address of this website-she wanted to be able to give it to patients who need some help (and here in the land of beer, brats, and CHEESE there are plenty of them
) . so I did my good deed for the day.
What is it about being poked, probed, pushed and smushed that is so exhausting? I am 'kackered' from just being in that medical building for an hour and a half! oh well, I seem to be fit, and I'll be getting tests for a couple of weeks that will hopefully support that notion.
nite all
Hi everybody! Well the weekend is here again....no cookouts planned (or pina coladas) so maybe on Monday I'll be back down! As of this a.m. I'm back at 139! This plateau thing just gets to me! I have to say though when i was fussing before the plateau was 141-145 now at least its 136-139! So a gold star for me right??
My leg is still bothering me some and i'm on antibiotics so I feel kinda yukky. Have any of you ever noticed antibiotics causing water retention? It seems to be causing my hands and ankles to be slightly swollen. Oh I wanted to share another food item with my buddies but this time it's not really praise of the product! I crave pizza alot and read about Kashi pizza's and I love so many of they're other products but was dissappointed with the thin crust spinach/garlic/something ...see it didn't even leave a "flavor" mark in my pina coladad' mind....no I am not having pina coladas right now i just figure they may be contributing to my memory loss at the moment! LOL Anyway it's not worth the calories for 1/3 of the pie and too crunchy and sauceLESS! Just thought I would share. It really did not help get those @#%$ Pizza Hut commercials that play every 3 minutes out of my mind!!!!!! So anyone with a good pizza craving recipe????? That isn't 1000 calories a slice
. Ok ChattyConnie will hush now! Hope everyone has a fun weekend! Connie
Hey all
Connie there is a "light" pizza, 250 cal for 1/5 th the lg pizza. It is one of the major brands...but of course the name escapes me right now, but it was in the regular frozen pizza section of our supermarket. It was pretty good too. Trade winds? i think??
Alison, it looks thin to me! maybe not as thin as you want it be but honey: thin is thin!
Ahhh thanks Aly {Alison blows you a kiss!!!)
I've been really *$%! off cos I'm on week 6 of a plateau
I was SURE I had lost weight this week cos my tum seems smaller - oh well..........
To be positive, the picture in the gallery is of me at 144lbs 2 years ago and the good news is I can now fit into the trousers I was wearing in that pic (as long as I don't sit down LOL)
Howz everyone else doing?? Sue - to have a new lower weight (even though it may be a plateau at the moment is GREAT - good going) {searches everywhere for a gold star - can't find one - blows ya a kiss instead}
As for the antibiotics I get fluid retention too so I bet the weight thing is water weight. You'll be back to yourself soon.
OK - this is all I gotta say: Our two recent picture-posters look GREAT! Unbelievably great! You should be so incredibly proud of yourselves.
Someday . . .I might be able to join the "skinnies" and post a picture that looks that good. Until then, day by day.
Thanks for considering my request to put your pictures up. I know it takes courage to do that. I can picture your faces as I write these messages - I feel like we're "real" friends, now. Hmm, but, where is Connie's picture?? *guilt, guilt*
Hi to Sophesca and Skn, too. Have a great day, everyone!
Hi everyone! I'm 46 and 231 lbs. I am a food aholic and can't stop. I keep reading everone's posts and I'm starting to get motivated. I live in a small town in southern Missouri. The food choices at the stores here are NONE!. I work all the time and do not really have any friends. I work all the time. Then go home and eat. I work a very stressfull job. I'm going through menopause. I just can't seem to get it together. I thought about starting Slimfast. I can't be around food. Any suggestions??
