Anyone in their late 20s?! megain44
  Jan 05 2008 15:45

I'm a dieting veteran.... up and down the same 20lbs since highschool! I've always lost it on Weight Watchers...but I wanted to try something new. So, here I am. I'm looking to start a group of late 20- early 30 year olds who are interested in losing weight and getting healthy. I'm 5' 9" 160lbs.  I'm looking for others that have about 20-30lbs to lose.  Hopefully there's some people out there!!

Happy New Year!

Hey all,

Man what a day! My youngest daughter wakes up sick with a stomach virus, then my oldest comes home from school cause she says she is sick also. It's amazing though that once she got home she had a miraculous recovery.lol

Tonight is my workout. I've been doing really good about going and not missing the gym. My hubby is still greatly supportive and I'm feeling better. My insecurity is still there and I have to have his reassurance that he loves me rather than wanting some barbie doll girl that is already at her goal.

I got my results from my thyroid test and my diabetes check and both are clear. So now all I gotto do is push the hard work and stay at it. I was at 198 last fri and I'm excited to see what tomorrow the scale says. Aunt Flo decided to show up so I'm sure maybe some pounds are lingering around because of that so if I don't have much loss I'm not going to freak out. Hell I may and then need yall to tell me to keep going.lol

It's supposed to freeze wild here in TX tonight so that will be an adventure. How's everyone week so far?

Glad to hear your tests came back clear  Laughing

Foxylady--so far so good on the clean eating this week.  Although, I have a date tonight, so who knows how that'll go.  It's hard to eat healthy on dates because you don't want to look like one of those high maintenance people who nibbles on salad and water and gets full after exactly 3 bites...
#163 vegetariangeek Jan 25 2008 16:45

Aw, Kelly, that sucks seeing numbers go up after all that work.  But bloating and water retention are temporary.  Eating less salt helps, and if it's that magical girly time of the month it might be skewing the jeans test.  I'm sure you'll feel better checking again on Monday.

I'm down a bit - really hoping last week was a blip due to my lovely magical effing menstrual cycle.  124.6 - past the 125 barrier! Woo hoo!

#164 vegetariangeek Jan 25 2008 16:47
Runner girl what kind of restaurant are you going to for your date?  I've had good luck with pasta primavera in restaurants - eat all the veggies first and just half the noodles and you'll have almost cleaned your plate.
#165 innocent_sin Jan 25 2008 16:56
Wow, everyone's sounding great!

Paige congrats on the test results and regular work outs. You are definately an inspiration.

Vegetariangeek, that's a great suggestion. I always have trouble eating out. Thanks.

Kelly, I've found that even walking will build muscle. I say blow a few bucks at the gym to get a body fat test done, then retest in about a month. If you're going to be training, that is a great way to track progress and it's less stressful that the scale (for me anyway).

Just keep up the workouts, you all are giving me the itch to go back to the gym regularly. I went on Wednesday and got yelled at by everyone I know there for being MIA. I owned up to making excuses and now I'm going back tonight. Wish me luck!

Thanks for the advice vegetarian geek :)  I'm going to try to be good.  I'm usually okay with the entree (usually...), it's the "do you want to split a dessert" question that always does me in.  Darn my sweet tooth!

I'm so glad everyone's doing so well.  Anyone else up for doing an "official" weigh-in on Monday?

Hey Yall,

Sounds like we are doing rather well going into the weekend. I wanted a regular coke so bad this morning but I did good and chose a diet dr pepper. Here at work I've been eating the weight watcher smart ones meals and they are surprisingly good and healthy.

Kelly-Muscle weighs more than fat so the numbers may not go down but you may be able to tell a difference in how you are feeling, breathing, and if you can tell things are toning up.My goal is to lose weight numbers wise and so far from jan1st starting at 202 I'm down to 197. I first started out walking for like 2 weeks minimum a mile and am now hitting the gym. It is getting better and better each time I go and I see I can add some weight it's awesome. To me it means progress and then the scale drops only like a pound a week but thats still good. Keep your head up and just don't give up. It will come off.

Runnergirl-I so know what you mean about going on dates and girls not eating or ordering a salad. You know depending on where you do go they might offer grilled chicken and veggies. That doesn't make you look like the high maintenance salad girl but is still food and is healthy. Suggestions never hurt.

I need help when I'm out on the go with my kids and we have to go thru drive thru does anyone suggest anything healthy from any menu maybe you have tried?

#168 vegetariangeek Jan 25 2008 18:09

Paige - good for you on staying away from the Coke!

Runnergirl, don't feel too worried about the dessert.  If you've been good with the entree just say yes, try to lean your date towards something fruit-based if possible, have slow, tiny bites, and stay away from the whipped cream ... cause it's not real cream anyway, it's from a can ... that's labelled "edible petroleum product" ... ew ... sounds kind of like motor oil ... ew ... you don't want to eat that, right?

:)

Sunday's are my highest calorie day...so I'll probably stick with Thursday's as my official weigh-in day...but I can just hold off posting here until Monday.

hi everyone!

i have to say...i just love reading everyone's posts!!  i'm sorry i've been so out of touch. paige, congrats on the test results; runnergirl, good luck on that date tonight...you'll find something healthy, i'm sure, and indulge in 1/2 a dessert if you must...a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do!  vegetariangeek...thanks so much for that pasta primavera tip, i LOVE pasta and have been shying away from it in restaurants, but i'm definitely going to try the "eating the veggies first" thing...yum!  foxylady, thanks for the clean eating challenge...i'm in!

i've been doing very good staying off the scale during the week (i tend to get a little ocd with weigh ins).  posting monday works great for me because i'm usually busy with family day on sunday and don't have a chance to log on.

anyone plagued with constant hunger lately?  i don't know what it is but i was FINE for the first few weeks of this reduced calorie diet and this week i've been soooo hungry and eating just as much as usual...i can't figure it out, it's not my 'girlie time', haven't been working out more...????

#174 samiaz Jan 25 2008 22:26

runner girl and foxylady..... what exactly is "clean eating"??? what are you guys doing differently that will classify as such?  sounds appealing

paige....that is EXCELLENT NEWS concerning your results

missea 1..... i gotta follow your lead and stay off the scale. i go on it atleast 4 times a day. no idea why. my scale used to be in the bathroom ( where normal people tend to keep them) but mine has somehow made its way to the hallway close to the living room. now that's OCD!

can't help you on the hunger thing. cause i usually give in once i get to that point.

happy to see everyone is still committed whether they gain or lose! ttyl.

#175 missea1 Jan 26 2008 11:32

samiaz...i was the same way...weighing a few times a day... with the scale in my bathroom.  i have since placed it in a CLOSET! HA! and just take it out for my weekly weigh in. still hungry and trying like heck to keep my choices healthy...healthy food just doesn't equal fullness to me sometimes...need more fiber i guess??  have a great weekend everyone!!!!

missy

#176 lin27 Jan 28 2008 08:11

hey - thanks for posting the bit about the horrible eating weekend (on Jan 15) runner_girl.  Although I love reading everyone's motivating comments, it's nice to see that I'm not the only one who cracks once in a while.  I had a "date weekend", which included eating out, drinking alcohol, and cooking up some yummy (but more fattening than usual) foods.  I had a great weekend, but am feeling the effects of eating bacon and eggs rather than my usual bowl of cereal.

I don't have a scale at home and have missed out on the gym all weekend, so it'll be weigh in time for me tomorrow....wish me luck...

#177 paige98 Jan 28 2008 13:33

Good Luck Lin!

Runnergirl-How did the date eating go?

How is everyone? Man what a full weekend. I had a sick baby with a stomach virus sat but then she started feeling better. This weekend we went to the Stock show and rodeo so the kids had a blast and we did plenty of walking. I didn't make it to the gym sat or sunday so I'm hitting it tonight.

You know I've done pretty well on only weighing in once a week because I'm the type that if I don't see the number results then I will just say forget it an go downhill fast. So I'm pushing myself not to count on the everyday number but rather how I'm feeling.

I didn't eat the best this weekend. It was filled with hot dogs at the girls game, chicken fried steak and then some fried burritos so I bombed for the weekend but today I brought salad for my lunch for the week so I should start at a better point. Hopefully we will see some results friday. Mother nature has left so now shoot maybe I will have lost a pound or 2 just from that being gone. Good Luck ladies, It's great having yall here:)

#178 gilly_bean Jan 28 2008 13:41

Just noticed this group so I wann join in!  I'll be 28 in 3 weeks (Feb 16) and I had 71 pounds to lose but I'm down 6 pounds so I guess it's 65 now.

I'm 5'8" and my goal weight is 135 pounds and my goal date is September 30, 2008!  I have two kids who are 3 yrs and 1 yr (hence the tremendous weight gain).

Anyways, enough about me...it will be nice to chat with some other people who are in my age group!

I made it!  Burned 500 calories at the gym, stretched my aching muscles, took a nice hot shower and felt great.  Thanks for keeping me accountable, I need that!

missea, I get the same thing some times.  My body just CRAVES more food, usually carbs.  I have an idea though.  Try going out for a nice juicy steak and have veggies on the side or a salad.  Maybe it's my upbringing, but it seems to me some red meat always makes me feel better.  Or, if you're watching the meat intake, try just making a whole pound of veggies, drizzle some EVOO on top with a little seasoning and go to town.  Yeah, it's a huge portion, but the calorie count is minimal.  Good luck everyone!  I love hearing about everyone's experiences.

#180 runner_girl Jan 28 2008 15:13

I am happy to report that both the date-eating and the date went really well!  We ended up going to a casual but trendy restaurant in Georgetown that served primarily seafood entrees.  I ate half a pound of spiced shrimp, but managed to pass on the bread and calorie-filled drinks.  Afterward, we went to the movies and while I didn't get anything, I did steal one of his kit-kats.  Overall, not too bad.  Plus, I had a long(ish) gym session on Saturday afternoon to atone for any damage done :)

And according to the scale, I was down 3 lbs this morning; it's hard to argue with that!

How is everyone else doing?
