{{hugs}} you all are SUCH an inspiration. I love peeking in here and seeing how everyone is doing. It CAN be done no matter what weight you are at, and its great to see such a strong group of people conquering it together. Love you all!
down to 215 :)
Thanks for checking in slainia - youve been working at it I see, good job!  Youve brought our mid month loss up to 99.4 lbs!

No Alice to walk today but my daughter has agreed to come.  I was surprised, Im not her favorite company (shes a teen) but I feel its supportive gesture on her part.  Who knows - we might even talk :P
OH MY!!

Check this out guys LINK

Upload a picture and in two days they send you a digitally reduced version - same photo.  You but thinner!  Very personal. I was happily surprised.  Here was mine LINK - I like her!

Im going to post it in the main forum too.
Sorry I didn't check in yesterday - it was a busy day!  As of yesterday, I was at 275.6!
I was trying to remember who shared my Thursday weighin.  I miscaluclated our loss total and with you in Darien, the total loss is 112.8 lbs.  Yeah for us!
BTW Jennifer (jrobillard) weighed in with a big loss so leaving the 300s to arrive at 297which means we're up to 122 lbs gone.  If we had that large Celebrity Fit Club balancing scale, it'd be like a person stepping off the scale.

We are doing some great progress for January !!

My daughter who agreed to walk with me called to say its snowing.  I dont see it outside and yes Im kind of spoiled in TX not getting the cold beating of the north but tonights walk sounds like a rough one now.

Thank you for the welcome, Denise.

My current weight is 308 and I just joined CC today.

Just weighed in this morning...276.

No walking today though, wind chill advisory. Even if I could bundle myself up enough, this kind of weather is unsafe for my walking buddy too. True she's fur covered, but this level of cold is too much.
True about your furry bud and there are strays who dont survive the freezing temp but heres a happy ending one LINK.  I decided to reroute my walk from the freezing sidewalk to the cozy grocery aisles of walmart, replacing my crutch with a cart.

Hi andria!  I read your post in another thread (LINK so others can know you better).  I can relate to much youve gone through and now how weight gain can really add up under such circumstances.  You sound like you are in a better place to take care of yourself and with such a busy hubby, you'll find much company on the pages here at CC, along with support.  Welcome!

I wonder if any similarly membered CC group has have lost what we are going to.  Im looking forward to some of the things it must be easy to take for granted being mildly overweight but coming from a heavier point, I think I'll always appreciate them.  Just things that become challenging after a certain point of weight gain.  Ive already had some and have my to do things for when Ive made more progress and are able to do them as well.  Thanks again to everyone whos along for the ride and sharing the experience!
sun123,
What a great story. Glad to hear the Culligan guy was so kind hearted. My walking buddy, Spike, is from a shelter. When they got her, she was malnourished, with all kinds of problems. She was surviving, as best she could at 6 months by digging up roots and eating them and garbage and whatever she could find. They re-habilitated her, and we adopted her. She's quite sweet and the only lingering problem she has is that when she tried to stand up on her hind legs, she gets major cramping. It's probably a result of muscle catabolism during development. I try to keep her legs strong by walking her a lot and feeding her good quality dog food. She, unlike me, gets to eat more after exercise because she doesn't have a weight problem.

Other than Spike, we have Jackie who was abused and neglected as a puppy. We adopted her from a different animal shelter when she was 1. She's 11 now and still flinches when we reach toward her to pet her even though we've never hit her.

Sammy was the dog we lost. She was only 8 but had epilepsy, which is what killed her. We got her as a puppy from a friend whose dog had surprised them with a litter.

We recently adopted (after losing Sammy), Scamp. Scamp is special. She's about 1.5 years old and we thought she had locked knees due to a birth defect. In fact, when we got the Xray we can see that her femurs are crooked! She walks OK though (if bowlegged) and is able to do all the necessary dog activities. She's probably part Jack Russell Terrier and is the cutest and sweetest little dog! She won't be taking long walks with Mama but she likes to monitor my weight routine!
I'm holding at 187.5.  Can't seem to get below there yet.

Thanks for the welcome, Sun. I didn't want to post the long story again in here since I'd posted it twice but it's also on my journal if anyone wants to read it to get to know me better.

I agree, it's really hard to do so many things that people with less weight to lose take for granted.  My hips and knees right now prevent a lot of walking, same with my back. Some days, it's a struggle to walk to the mailbox and back. I'm really looking forward to the day I can do that without getting totally out of breath. I also have to watch my cardio because my heart beats too fast. I've got to start out really slowly and work my way up to 30-60 minutes a day. Actual walking is pretty well out for me right now so I'm buying a treadmill on payday, along with a total gym. At least that way, I can stop if it gets to be too much on the knees, back, hips, heart. I might only be able to do 5 minutes at first, but I will be able to do that 5 minutes several times a day.

I think the total gym will also help with strengthening my back and with toning. I had one years ago and loved it (back when on weight watchers). They really give a good workout. I live out in the country so there's no gym or YMCA close to go to regularly. Heck, this county doesn't even have a library or Walmart, let alone a Y or gym. I found out yesterday that they just started doing weight watchers meetings here in the county about 3 months ago. But, I'd rather lose the weight without going to Weight Watchers this time. The points plan and calorie counting are basically the same. One point averages out to about 50 calories so if I can save $48 a month and do it with calorie counting and with online support and friends, that's much more my speed.

I'VE LOST 75 POUNDS IN FIVE MONTHS OF DIETING!

I feel like I need to sit down and write a Thank You Note to the woman I was 5 months ago (in August) ... that brave woman who finally took that first step of deciding to change her life and try -- yet again -- to lose weight. I am sure she was scared, and pessimistic, and filled with doubt about her ability to do this ... yet she was still willing to try. First one meal. Then one day. Then one week. Then two weeks. Then a month. She bought vegetables. She bought a scale. She bought a bike. She bought a treadmill. (And she's been having a lot of fun buying new clothes!)  Along the way she's learned a lot about perseverance. And nutrition. And cooking. And meal planning. And exercise. And dieting. And she's made a lot of wonderful friends along the way, too. She hasn't walked this journey alone ... her wonderful husband and dozens and dozens of friends have supported her, motivated her, encouraged her, dieted along with her, and kept  her going.

=^..^= MOLLY

just wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing? Weight loss and in Life... also wanted to bump are amazing thread up to the top cuz we were laggin'. This week has been really good for me. Ive been walking to get my lunch everyday which is usually about 3 miles depending on where I go. Elipitical every day for 25 minutes. Weights every other day for about a 1/2 hour. Basketball almost everyday for about and hour or a little less. I've been mixing in some new food to which is nice. Had Round Table Pizza 2 nights, chicken and brown rice a couple nights, subway, In and Out Burger, and making Chicken Parm tonight for dinner. Ive tried to up the cals a little this week and its helping me out very much with energy. Havent had and light headedness or those tingling sensations I was having throughout my body (only a little bit when I first start running on the elipticial) Been making sure to eat 5 servings (at least) of fruits and veggies. Drinking tons of water, and eating throughout the day. Been sleeping like crazy too (today 12 hours) hashahhaa.. With no school and work right now weight loss is my number 1 priorty which is awesome. However Im moving back to the SF Bay Area again this week from Los Angeles. Im sad to leave. But LA is so expensive. I got alot of work already lined up, going back to school right away, and have a free place to stay so Im trying to save. Let's see if I can keep up on the diet and excersize. Im worried. At least with school Ill be walking around alot. One job will be very active like physical manual labor and the other is desk work. The diet should be good but Im worried about partying to much. I am 21 and all.

Weigh in is wednesday and I know its gonna be another big week cuz I can see and feel it. Hopefully not as much as last week (14 lbs) Ive been eating 1800-2150 cals a day and I think its the best number for now. My clothes dont fit me at all anymore which sucks especially since I stay fitted and spend to much money on clothes. I went from a 5xtall t-shirt to a 3xtall. 52 jeans to 44.. luckily for me my momma is a beast with the sewing maching and made some of my expensive jeans smaller for me. Now shes gonna hook up the jerseys.. Love my mom. She's lost about 100 lbs with diet and excersize too over the last 1 1/2 years. Just gotta get Pops on the program. Ill be back on wednesday with the good news on the weigh in.

Keep up the goodwork people!

way to go jack. i'm doing real good too. and it's awesome to hear you kickin ass down there. keep it up. it feels too good to let up now. aw yeah.

I understand the sleep Jack- my ex was in very good shape, very active and slept 10 hrs usually.  Just yesterday I decided I needed to up my calories, especially with this daily walking and because I was too low period.  I understand you being worried but just be cautious and consider some mini-goals to keep you on track during your move transition.  Also, it will be good to connect with health minded folks in San Fran and of course we ll be here for you.

Good to here things still going well Brett.  1-1/2 weeks until our REAL update for FEB 1st so great that your keeping up the good work.

The  Jan 21 issue of People magazine has an 3-page article on 3 people who met online and lost weight together.  "By chatting on a diet Web site, three virtual strangers cheered eah other on to a combined 292-lb weight loss."  Hmmm sounds familiar :D and today is January 21st.  Im holding on to this - we may have our own story by year end for next January's edition!!  Make sure you got your before pictures :D

weigh in manana... will let u all know how it goes.. still nervous because Ive upped the Cals this week... Ill be good..

Haha - me too!  Upped them but I was running to low so with Thursday weigh-in not sure what to expect.  Im thinking you weight in Weds Jack.  Ive prepared myself for maybe one or two week weight loss stall.  Perhaps I ll be unaffected, I can hope.

Yesterday hiding from the freeze we walked walmart instead.  Picked up fruit, something to work towards a healthier cal increase.  Good luck Jack ~
