Hey Dolled ~ are you able to take foods from home or are you buying them at a food service?
if you can take them, what about single serving type foods like string cheese, energy/cereal/protein bars, fruit, nuts in a ziplock, a mini bag of baby carrots? i finally figured out that just carbs didn't stick enough for me, so I usually have to include protein & even a little fat (like nuts) for a snack to satisfy me |

Hey everyone,
I have made decision that is somewhat scary to me right now I'm planning on going down in calories to 1600 for non exercise days and 1700 - 1900 cals for exercise days. I'm so afraid I'll be starving and not be able to meet this target but I've had these values suggested to me from both cc and my consultant at the gym. Plus I found out that I did loose my 50lbs back 3 years ago with 1700 cals a day when I started out at 300lbs. I want to do It but I'm not convinced I can.... |

sabineyvr ~ what scares you?
what is your meal plan like? do you break up your food in meals and snacks? are you afraid you'll be hungry or run out of food? have you considered a range? I shoot for a 500 cal range. The cals I burn - 500 cals. So I meet my goal if I don't eat more than I burn. If I followed cc's recommendation, I think that is a 750 calorie deficit (to lose 1 1/2 lbs a week) and would put me at 1,750 cals a day. So I'm a little slower when I only cut back 500. |

Hey there,
I've just had a horrible week eating "just" 2000 cals a day due to TTOM I think so I'm a little worried this will actually feel like a diet rather than nutrition plan. I'm planning to eat 5-6 times a day snack (b4 work out), breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. Of course the before work out snack will be obsolete since I'd be sleeping if not working out. I guess I'm most afraid of it feeling like a full on diet and not just eating but having just broken it down into cals per meal snack it's actually not bad at all. |

Hi everyone! Good entries, so encouraging. Sabineyvr, do what feels right FOR YOU! Everyone is different and you have to figure out for yourself how to lose and exercise too. If you're going to crash and burn, by all means allow yourself more calories. My own experience has been losing it slowly (50 lbs) and getting more exercise than I've ever had in my life! And, I've kept if off much longer than I have ever in my life. (I bet we all are career dieters!) At this point in time, however, I am trying the South Beach diet. I have been very tired most of these first days, so no exercise. I'm going to see how it goes, but if it looks as if I don't have the energy for my morning 3-mile walks, then I will have to modify the diet (maybe go straight to Phase 3!!) I feel that getting good amounts of exercise has been key to my being able to keep off the lbs so I will make whatever adjustments necessary to do that. I vote for "100+ lbs Losing2gether Sucess(fully?) Club". Great idea go4gold. I have had 4 diet cokes this afternoon and I'm cleaning the garage (remodeling tomorrow). I hate to be relying on caffeine for energy, tho'. Tomorrow! |

Hi Everyone. What a great group of people we have here. I'm so excited to see the positive response to my input this morning about the name being positive.I love how it's changed into the 100+ lbs Losing2gether Successfully Club!!! YES WE ARE LOSING IT TOGETHER. I know that I have the most wicked, meanest, most negative voice in my head about my body and weight, and if I don't keep it in check it can really make me miserable. I used to say things to myself like, 'I hate my body", and "I'm disgusting", and "What's the point, I'll never lose this weight anyway". It took a while to really become aware of this ongoing onslaught against myself in my head. Once I did, I started actively working on saying affirmations every single day, many times a day about myself and my body. It has had an amazing impact on me. I don't binge anymore, I can stay within my calories, and I love my body, even at my current size. Each day I actually visualize my body at my normal weight and tell it how grateful I am that it has stuck around through all of the abuse I've put it through. I also say "I have a happy, slender body" many times throughout the day. That way my brain knows where to take my body!! doing this has helped me so much, because when I was being so mean to myself it would actually contribute to me binging and overeating becuase I felt so bad. I don't know if anyone else has these kinds of thoughts, but this is what prompted me to say what i did about the postivie name. I hope it helps everyone. Congratulations to all of you for being here and sharing. I have learned so much already, and am focusing on my water intake, but honestly getting in 8 glasses a day for me is hard, I don't know how I could possible get in 15. Thanks for being here. I appreciate all of you. |

Hi Count! I so know what you mean. I have to challenge what I say to myself and replace it with better thoughts too. Figured this out when I quit smoking. In addition to beating myself up, i used to be miserable about giving up cigarettes and quitting. I had to decide that quitting cigarettes was a good thing and embrace the changes and new me. Now, I have to decide that overeating & being overweight is a bad thing. And also need to decide that NOT overeating and losing weight really is a good, joyful, WOOT WOOT kinda thang ;) thanks for the reminder to look for the good in this process :) |

ps, remember the alternative liquid is ok! I shoot for 8 glasses but don't always make that when I'm not thirsty at all. I think the Piddle color means a lot. The clearer the better! No Dark Piddle allowwwwwed!!!

Good morning all. Go4gold, you're a gem. thanks for the support on the water drinking. boy that is so challenging for me and I live in the DESERT! I have two technical questions: 1) the weigh in each week. are we posting our current weight, amount lost and next goal? I didn't see that as I scrolled through, but I'm not good at this type of thing, so I'm gonna need some tutorin' :-) 2) What happens if I hit post a reply after a single entry instead of the original one. Does the reply go to only that person? Thanks all. |

Hiya! I'm still learning to navigate around the forums so bear with me please. I drink an average of 12 glasses of water a day because I found a flavored carbonated, no calorie, no sugar, no carb version that I love. It's Sam's Choice Clear American and it comes in a variety of flavors. My next mini goal is another 20 lbs by the end of September. I won't take my measurements or weigh myself until then. Since working out and making other lifestyle changes I have lost an inch from my arms, hips, thighs and waist. I want to be an active part of our community and cheer lead everyone to their goals. |

Hi everyone, thank you for your encouraging words and I'm convinced I can do it now. I think the secret is looots of veggies and fruit to feel full and not too much pasta and rice. undo117 I am doing much more exercise than ever and I'm loving it I am not stressed out by it not tired from It just feeling exhausted after doing it but so energized later on. I think I can, doing it today eating my yummy fish fillet right now after a fruity and protein filled breakfast at 8am this morning. I love this title too for this group: "100+ lbs Losing2gether Sucessfully Club" But no matter what we're called we rock and we'll rock even more without those extra 100lbs. Let's go do it! |

I agree with sabineyvr on the group name, "100+ lbs Losing2gether Successfully Club" ------------------------------------------------------ -------- undo117: Is there anyway you can increase your protein/fibre intake on the South Beach diet? Cause that might up your energy. And good for you for cutting out caffiene! I don't know if I could give up soda pop, but I might switch to the caffiene free stuff. count-it-07: I'm pretty pessimistic myself.. so I totally respect that you are saying affirmations every day. I wish I wasn't such a pessimist, I could be a much happier person. Thanks for the tips goldie, and LOL, dark piddle.. bigmommah: Welcome and great for you! An inch all around, wow! I'm rooting for ya.. 20 by the O-month! ------------------------------------------------------ As for me, I have been feeling pretty good. I got all three of my workouts in this week, even though I started back at college on Monday. I know it will be much harder to get them in once exams and essays roll around. Today I've drank 10 cups of water, and I still have a couple hours left in the day. For some reason I feel much better when I'm hydrated, and my skin is smoother.. weird. Well, I'm off to make dinner (whole wheat spaghetti with meatballs, yum!). Hope everyone has a great rest of their weekend! <3 Jenn

Hi Weekenders!!! Hey Bigmommah! Hoow do you resist the scale! U've got willpower!!! & Where do you measure? I hadn't thought about that. Maybe that should be our challenge this coming week, get our stats down someplace? If everyone agrees about the name when they get back from the weekend, then I'll change the name like Tues. Okie Dokie? ;) Dolled, I know what you mean about being a pessimist. Sometimes I have to turn off the news b/c it's so negative I get to thinking the world is going to hell in a handbasket and will end tomorrow. I also get pretty down and negative on myself. I really had to start taking control of all my negative and pessimistic thoughts though. It was weighing me down and making me feel like a total failure. Changing my thinking was hard, and I'm still working on it. It's a concious choice to change. Let's see if I can illustrate. If you were talking to a toddler and they said they are ugly, what would you say to them? Or to your daughter or best friend? |

Oh yeah, someone asked about weigh ins....
There's no set date or formal thing. I hope everyone posts at least once a week, even more is better! And post when you meet your mini-goal or have exciting news, bad day, thoughts, whenever about whatever! If you want to post your weight each week you can, but I don't see how I could keep that updated for everyone, but I'm happy to update the mini goals for sure. Maybe if we use Blue's (whatcoloristhesky) offer & expertise & suggestion to build a website place, we could track weights for anyone who wants to do weekly or other stuff like measurements. Anyone want to work with Blue on tracking and updating such a thing? I want this to be all of our group.... for what we all want! So I'm game for a lot... but I also work, so it's a lot for me to keep up here. Using a website table or something a bunch of people could update would be cool (imho :) Holler! |

Welcome to the new people!
I like the "100+ lbs Losing2gether Successfully Club" as a new name. It's positive and highlights the fact that we're in it together. But no matter what we're called we rock and we'll rock even more without those extra 100lbs. Sabineyvr - for some reason when I read that as we rock and roll and more with those 100 lbs - and it gave me a mental image that cracked me up. Probably because it's so true for me. I must be tired out (last two days have been super busy). |
