the shorties but wanna be thinnies club!

Quote  |  Reply
Hi!  I'm  hoping to start a shorties club, probably for women because mostly women are 4'11" - Idk maybe 5'4", it could vary a little i guess.  Does anyone want to join?  We shorty women (or I should say "petite") need to stick together, especially women who are older (because our metabolism sucks sometimes), but age could vary also, it doesn't matter.  Just wondering if there is already a thread for this, been searching but haven't found one yet.  Your starting weight could vary also, i'm not picky.  Women just have alot harder time dropping the weight (i.e. monthly cycles, moods, water weight, you know...)

Me:  Just started this website on 5/30/07

Starting Weight was:  121lbs (stubborn pounds)

My Height is:  5'0"

My age is:  38

My activity level is:  Moderate (Light)

My Calorie Expenditure is:  (around 1700- it varies with exercise)

My goal weight is:  110!

My goal date is:  8/30/07

My current weight:  6/3/07 is:  119!

What else?  Oh and my daily calorie intake is between 1200-1400 (1600 on a bad day)

Anybody else want to join.  I would love support and fellow chat members, kay? thanks!

P.S. I know that it only seems like I have a little to lose, but BELIEVE ME, those are the most stubborn last pounds to go!

Hello NYC girl and all,

&nb sp;               &nb sp;          Well, believe it or not at the beginning of the year, I decided I wanted to do something about my weight.  I was heading towards obseity.  I called Jenny Craig.  The program worked wonders for me.  I am off that program and still losing!  I am not trying, I just eat healthy and I am pretty active at work.  As I stated, when I started on January 4 of this year I weighed in at 137 pounds.  I think at one time I weighed about 145 pounds.  Today, I weigh about 100 pounds!  I am proud of that but still hate myself.  I really don't know why.  I am only four feet nine inches tall and at a perfect weight, but still think that I am ugly.  Losing about 38 pounds this year is a big accomplishment.  I am almost 45 years old, so it was a very big deal.  But still, I don't feel that I am right.  I feel that I should be tall and thin, like those models we are all conditioned to believe we should look like.  Sorry to ramble, but I am just kind of down on myself.  Take care all.  Robin

My starting weight:  128ish (I think)

Height 5' 1 3/4"  (almost 5' 2" ) :-)

Activity: moderate/active

Goal Weight: 110

Goal Date:  Jan 2008

Calorie intake: only God knows....that's why I'm here to go get it straight. I have this lovely layer of subcutaneous belly fat that I can't seem to get rid no matter what I do.  --which by the way isn't much just out of sheer frustration.
Starting weight: 175

Height: 5'3"

Age: 37

Activity Level: Moderate Light

Goal Weight: 125

Goal Date: March 2008

This is my first post.  I just started CC, feeling like I have a very long way to go!  But I want to be short and thin again!
Hi!! Can I join??

I'm 5'3", medium to large build, and as of today, 199 pounds. *sniff!*  I was 201 on Tuesday, though, so 2 days of calorie counting again has gotten me a couple of pounds down?

I'm 35 years old, sedentary for most of the day, except for the 2-4 miles that I walk as part of my commute (I don't always to it, though).

At my thinnest, I was 145 pounds, a size 6/8 and I felt great.  I would like to get back there.

This is my second try at CC.  I was stuck on a 2 month plateau at 175 last August thru October and I decided to give up calorie counting around Thanksgiving.  I'm hoping this time it will work!

My question is: what sort of menu do you guys follow, for a 1000 calorie day?  I'm OK with sticking to 1500 calories, but below that, I start getting so, well, HUNGRY!  I try to eat a variety of fruits and veggies throughout the day, and I think I'm getting enough protein, just want to see how you guys do it?

How is everyone doing? I have been so busy lately that I haven't been posting or even logging my calories and exercise! I am getting back into it today. I am still pretty much at the same weight, 117 pounds. I have been eating alot this week so I am not surprised that I haven't lost any. I had a big steak on Friday night and pizza buffet yesterday. It is nice to do that once in a while though to get a treat after all the hard work. Everyone check in if you can today!

hello there i just found this thread and was hoping it was still active :D

hi there acarr, i hear ya bout the night problems and i don't care for excercise either but i did find something i can do that came naturally when trying to figure a way to burn more calories while sitting in front of the TV. alternately just bounce your legs, feet on the floor and make it like a game to see how fast you can get em goin, its really easy and doesn't take up your TV time

Hello Ali,

&nb sp;     Good to see you here.  We are very similar.  I am only four feet nine inches tall.  When I started out I was 137 pounds as well.  I did not think that I could do this.  This was January of this year, the beginning of the year.  Today, I am at a healthy 98 pounds!!!!!!  There is one big difference between you and I.  I am almost 45.  My point is this.  Don't give up.  If I did it at my age, I know you can.  Take care. Robin
can i just ask how many calories do you people eat to lose weight at 5ft or less??? its really bugging me as im 5 ft with a small frame and im slowly bringing my cals up to 1200,will this make me gain as i remember maintaining once on 1000 calories which i fort would help me lose but i guess not =/ so im actually confused as to how many calories i should have to lose some pounds coz when i was on 800 calories for a few weeks it worked for a while but then it didnt work out forever as i started bingeing alot =( =( =(
Hello Misunastod,

&nb sp;               &nb sp;      I don't know if everyone will agree here, but I think the key is this.  In order to lose weight,  you have burn more calories than you take in.  The trick, is figuring that out.  Unfortunately, it is also alot easier to take in calories than it is to burn them.  Try stepping up your exercise routine.  It does not sound like you are eating that many calories.  Just a thought.

Take care.  Robin

misundastod,

I'm not sure how old you are, but I am 43, 5' 0", small frame and I have had success by eating around 1200 calories and exercising at least 5 times a week. Some days I eat more calories, once in a while a little less than 1200. It is not healthy to go under 1200 calories very often. I have lost 15 pounds since the end of June. If you stay at 1200 for most of the time and then eat a little more once in a while, it keeps your metabolism guessing. I think that is the key to weight loss.

Not sure if people are still posting to this thread, but thought I would throw my stats in:

Started Calorie Count in the beginning of October 2007

Starting Weight was:  126

My Height is:  4'10"

My age is:  28

My activity level is:  Moderate (I sit all day at work, but go to the gym 3 days a week for about an hour.)

My Goal calorie intake is 1300

My Goal weight is:  105

My goal date is:  2/18/08

My current weight:  123 (10/16/07)

I joined CC because I have realized 90% of losing weight is what you eat. I say this because even when I was working out 5 to 6 days a week, I never got below 118 pounds. (The "ideal" weight for my height is 95-105lbs.)  In the two weeks since I've started really watching what I eat, I've lost 3lbs which makes me think I'm on the right track.

I'm curious if the other shorties out there have the same problems I do which are:

I hold nearly all my weight in my butt and thighs, that added to my awesome 26" inseam makes it nearly impossible to buy pants that fit properly (even in the petite section.)

It takes me 2 weeks to lose 3lbs, but I could easily gain that back in 2 days, ie. one bad weekend.

If my "ideal" weight is 100ish pounds, does that mean I should only eat 1000 calories a day? I may be the height of a 12 year old, but I have the appetite of an adult so what exactly should I be eating?

Starting Weight was:  156
My Height is:  5'3''
My age is:  21
My activity level is:  Sedentiary
My Calorie Expenditure is:  1200
My goal weight is:  104
My goal date is:   May 28 2008.

My current weight:  135.2 this morning
Daily calorie intake is supposed to be 1200

kitkatlosefat,

I think we are somewhat similar.  I am 4'11 and weigh 117 and  I want to get down to about 110.  I also carry a lot of weight in my hips and thighs, have a small waist, short legs, long torso.  I get my pants from Ann Taylor Loft and Banana Republic (online has petites).  The Limited carries shorter pants also.  I still have to have them hemmed but at least they are closer to the right proportion.

This site does not recommend going below 1200 calories but I think for people our height and weight, it might be okay sometimes to go down to 1000 if you are zig-zagging between 1000-1400 (and if you are sedentary).  If you are fairly active though, you should be able to stay above 1200 and still lose weight, although it will be a slow process.  It so hard to lose weight when you are below 5 feet :)  TTOM is a killer for too.

Anyway, good luck to you!

I am 4'11, but I always say I am 5 foot even..lol...I have plenty to lose I started out at 182 am now 178 and I haven't weighed in for a week..trying to do the once a week weighing thing. So today I get to weigh and hopefully I weigh less............x fingers. I am 26 and have been married 8 years in Dec. we have 3 children ages 3,4 and 7. I have been really serious about getting my weight of this time and have been doing it for 2 weeks now. I go to the gym 6 days a week and haven't (so far) given in to any food cravings!!!!!! Thanks for starting this thread..it should be fun!!!!
