Hey all, I'm looking for others with similar goals (not stats, anybody who's 10 or less from their goal) so we can keep each other company for the last leg of the weight-loss extravaganza. A small group would be great fun! (Let's keep it to just the first 10 or so who join - if I even get that many takers!)
My stats:
Age: 22
Height: 5'0
CW: 107-110 (morning-evening)
Goal Weight: 98-101
Hay everyone,
Had quite a good weekend although did drink far too much on Sat night and therefore was hungover on Sunday. Okie - I am also sorry as yesterday I had 2 biscuits (only two though). I am continueing on with the no biscuit thing.
I have decided everyone that I am going to be serious this week, only 12 weeks till the wedding and I really want to drop these pounds so I am going to be disciplined like you ama.
I will be out a lot this week and away from home on business so I wont be in touch very much but fingers crossed for the weigh in on Fri - Would love to be 153.......
So I went out on Saturday and walked/jogged over 4 miles around my neighborhood. I got a really good sweat going, which is why I dropped down to what I am now.
BUT, I wanted to say a huge Thank You to Amayou - I always knew that I did better with weight loss when I cut down my carbs, but it was something about what you've written here that finally got me back on track. I went and bought a bunch of South Beach Diet stuff and I've really just been upping my protein more than anything. This is the first time I haven't felt restricted when cutting carbs.
Keep going girls! One day at a time. :)

Steph, keep up the good work, 2 biscuit's no biggie, kudos to you for having the will power to keep from totally binging. 3 months to go till wedding congrats again. Doyou already have your dress? If so try it on it may be fitting differently already. Enjoy your business trip (as much as possible) we'll see u on Friday for the weigh in.
Great job Beth. Man I wish I had the discipline to work out as much you. I'm barely running 1.5 miles. I really need to join a gym because if I'm paying my money I'll definitely use the facility. I also checked out your pics, one word, AWESOME.
I must admit I was feeling a little down this morning, what I call the "diet blues" but this has really picked me up, thanks everyone.
Thanks for the compliment. I don't know about all of you, but that's a major part of why I've been able to lose the weight. People noticing really helps. :) Keep it up, you look great!!
Sounds like everyone did well this weekend! And Okgo made it to goal!!!! Awesome, you're the first one in the group to get there. Good for you!!
Beth, your loss is really inspiring - good for you too I know how nice it feels to have the scale FINALLY start to read the way you want it to. Amayou, I think you're right about paying for a gym, it does make a difference. Sometimes not long-term (so don't get locked into a 2-year contract!) but it's also so exciting and novel the first few weeks so you kind of make any excuse to go.
Steph, I have a dress-up event on July 5 so I'm also going at it hardcore till then. Today has been good so far.
Update: 1450 calories and I worked out for an hour.
Great job Vege.
Yesterday was a bad day for me. I had a little binge monster attack. It wasn't as bad as I wanted it to be, but I'm getting back on track today. Today is work out day for me so I'm gonna give it my all, but try not ot pass out in this GA heat. I think I'm gonna sign up for this gym near my job, you can pay monthly without a contract.
Ugh. Guys, I feel fat today. :(
I ate way too much pasta last night - even if it was multigrain. And had like 3 four ounce glasses of red wine. Bad me. It was SO deliciously glorious at the time. I really didn't need the second piece of bread, though...not to MENTION the ice-cream sandwich. *bangs head on keyboard*
On the plus side, I just got back from BodyPump... and later I am going to try out Bikram Yoga -- which has me pretty intimidated. I have a feeling it will be a one-time thing...
Also, I can tell I'm getting sick... yesterday's ominous throat tickle has become todays dry cough, and it's only going to go downhill from here. Argh.
Hope you're working out indoors near a fan or something Amayou. I'm in Alberta, Canada and can't imagine Georgia weather - today is supposed to be really nice and warm here at 19 degrees (about 65 fahrenheit).
Sept, your description of your meal is making me drool. BodyPump sounds awesome ... but I tried Bikram yoga once and thought it was a waste of time. And money.
Septi as long as you're still staying active you can treat yourself sometimes, just do better tonight. Have a lighter dinner, it'll balance out. My mom always tells me to gargle some peroxide and take an Ibuprofen if I feel something coming on, it works for her.
Veg-it'll be about 83 degrees, but there are some shaded areas on the track and I stay very Hydrated. Plus I'm only doing 1.5 miles, trust me I won't over exert myself I have a trip to take friday and I can't do that from the hospital, lol.
Anouncement (that has nothing to do with anything I just wrote, lol)
I just became an aunt, my sister had her first baby this morning, 7lbs 13oz, 20 inches long. Robert Daniel Black, I'm going up there to see him this weekend (my trip) all the way to Detroit, Michigan.
Awesome news! Congratulations Amayou!
looks like give or take everyone is doing a great job, congrats! i wish i had the same discipline as many of you :( the past two weeks i have been a very bad girl...between moving home, starting a new job, and going out with friends that i haven't seen in a year i regained like, 5 pounds!!! (trying not to freak out) i was doing so good, had finally gone under 140 :( not too mention it's menstrual week and i have water retention on top of all of that.
but i refuse to give up!!!!
any helpful suggestions as to keep yourself away from cravings all day and feeling full??? my hardest times are in the evenings after dinner and sometimes in the afternoon right after i get off work :(
I love seeing that "I refuse to give up!!" Why would you ever give up on your health? Just because you ate badly for a few days IN THE PAST is no reason to say "screw it" to your health in the future.
Sorry, I'm feeling philosophical this evening :)
It's different for different people, but here's what works for me. (When I practice what I preach) To feel fulll, drink LOTS of water, and eat low-fat/high-fibre things like beans and apples and sugar snap peas.
To avoid giving in to cravings, never get TOO hungry (have an apple or some yogurt or some toast mid-afternoon instead of trying to wait many hours after lunch for dinner).
For me a lot of the time cravings are just wanting to put something in my mouth - try to have more benign things around. Raw fruit and veggies are healthiest, if not try Jello, rice cakes, gum ...
Cravings are such terrible things. I was so tempted to eat a kinder bueno or some other chocolate bar when i got home yesterday, on top of the somewhat filling dinner and post dinner ice cream (i think sodium and sugar generates further cravings for me)... I went to sleep after having a pear instead. And I wake up craving-less. *Phew*
It's so easy to give up once you've blown it, and think, 'well, since i've already eaten this much, i might as well go the whole hog and eat all the junk i want'. especially when you're nearing your goal weight, and at times, it seems that the torture that we have to go through just for that additional 5 pounds just isn't worth it... I have to remind myself constantly though, that this whole exercising and eating right thing isn't just a diet! It's a lifestyle, and a commitment i'm making so that i won't be plagued by a whole plethora of health problems later in my life. I had a timely reminder this week, when some of my uncles and aunties flooded my house with phone calls (their full body check-up reports just came out)... apparently, their blood pressures/cholesterol levels/body fat were dangerously high, and they were in high risk of cardiac arrest/stroke... Prevention is better than cure, and temporary lapses and slides are better than just giving up! (: All the best guys!
septimusette--i know the fat feeling! It'll probably make you feel better if you got up and exercised a bit of the weight off! and of course, drink plenty of water! Take care yea!
amayou--a nephew! congrats! (: (nice name too--it sounds movie star worthy. lol.)
Thank u veg.
Way to stay Positive Jebo, I'm just glad to be back in the 140s. I'm seriously thinking of staying off the scale for a while like a month. I found a gym I'm seriously considering joining and they have a kickboxing class.
Thank u too DoeDoe
Well tomorrow's the big day and I'm not feelin so cnfident after my lil binge on tuesday. So I sneak on the scale today 146.8, not happy about that but i'm goin low carb today to try to make up for my binge on tuesday, hope it makes a difference for tomorrow.
Doedoe it is pretty freaky to hear the older generation's health stories, isn't it? It drives me nuts when I see my clearly-unhealthy aunts eating huge portions of fatty, sugary foods. I don't usually say anything, but often I'm thinking "didn't you just get told you were borderline diabetic? why do you need a third donut?" It puts it into perspective though, I'm already really healthy and these few pounds I want to lose are mainly just for my own vanity (although I'd like to build enough muscle to be able to go adventuring ...)
I know what you mean about unhealthy family members, about 75% of my family is obese which of course causes numerous other health issues. And the ones that aren't obese are naturally skinny but probably still out of shape as far as their health is concerned. I really want to make healthy my lifestyle I just have to find a place between counting every calorie and bigning like a pig. When I go to maintenance this time I'm gonna try to stay focused on my health.
Weigh in!
I'm 117lbs this week... back to my pre-pms weight. :3 i think i lost a little overall. (tending towards 116 rather than 118.) hope that it'll be a good week for the rest of you guys! (:
I've still got 12 hours before weigh in. Why did I eat that ice cream?
hey guys! i think i'll skip weigh in this week :/ for one thing i'm bloated from PMS and for the other i know it's not a good number that will only depress me more and i'd rather stay positive. thanks so much for the support!
i'll try the tips vege! thanks so much! i think that's what it is; i need something to just chew. (i've tried gum in the past but it just makes me hungrier)
best of luck!
