Hey everyone.  Thanks for making the transition over here.  We have to stick together and stay strong.  Bathing suit season and smoldering hot temps are on their way and we wanna look even steamier.  I encourage everyone to still post their weight loss when they weigh in but I'm not going to make it a challenge or a goal for us.  We just want to congratulate your on your triumphant success.  Good luck!

Everyone loses weight at different rates, too, it's important to remember. I tend to start out big and then go down to 1-2 lbs per week avg, sometimes up to 5 or more lost. Now, that said I never stuck to any weightloss diets until I actually lost all of my extra weight so I'm not sure what happens beyond that initial few weeks' time period. (last year being the only time I didn't lose focus while dieting, I just became pregnant and chose to put it all on hold for the pregnancy, lol, but picked it back up after I was about 2 months postpartum)

Also important to remember about weighing in is to do so the same time of day, the same day of the week. Wear the same type/weight of clothing (or none at all), and be sure you're not wet from a shower, have gone to the bathroom, and haven't eaten yet. Water weighs a lot, something like 8 lbs per gallon? I'm probably wrong on that. So, if/when I'm af'g I don't weigh because it won't be accurate. I just skip that week of weighing in, but don't skip all activity and food diet.

I was just thinking, that's all ... :)

Good info steph...:) I have a stupid question though...what is af'g? Embarassed I think I know but I'm not sure what those letters would stand for.

active flow...

sorry - saw the question and thought I'd answer..

I only have 86# to lose, so was reading the thread for inspiration.

Thanks all!

actually, i've always heard it was "Aunt Flo" but same thing :) lol

Sorry - I tend to think of it more clinically than colloquially - I work at a Specialty Fertility Pharmacy - We talk body all the time! :-)

Here's some random advice that certainly I'm not personally experienced with : \

If "one" hasn't reached her calorie maximum for the day and desires to eat something sweet.... say 45% cacao baking dark chocolate bar because it's all she has.... well, it *might* have a laxative effect. Especially if you eat 3 ounces of the stuff.

yeah.
And in more exciting news! If you are constipated and are tired of all those chalky, nasty drinks or pills.. just eat 45% cacao baking dark chocolate! It tastes Great! :D

Hi tj_s, see there it will happen for you. 7.2 lbs wow! That is great. The time will pass and you will see it will happen for you.  Yes working hard is part ( working hard mentally to change how you see food) and also getting moving and burn the calories and boost metabolism.   Remember what ever your starting weight is, it is just that your starting number.  Let it liberate you and make you feel stronger when you can meet those little goals on the way to the big goal.Head up shoulders straight and put one foot in front of the other.( and smile it makes people wonder what you have been up to!!haha.)  I started at about 280( that too was a scary number for me.  I didn't really want to tell people then. but when I finally got to 240 I started telling people when they asked, Oh I started at 280 but now I am at 240.  Whoo hoo!!!!!  NO matter where you start it is where you end up that matters.also understand about the hubby thing, oh try this or would you like a bite of this.  My hubby does that sometimes.  He then realizes what he is doing and says you know sometimes we are not good for each other by telling each other it is ok to have this or that.  ( he unlike you hubby needs to lose alot also.)  I usually hit higher end of calorie count when he is off and home than when I eat without him.  got to work on that.   you are doing great. keep up the good work.

hello, i am not sure what this section is about, but i need to lose  at least 100 lbs, more, i have lost 29 to date. so please some body explain to me about what you guys are doing and how this section works ok?

Original Post by tj_s:

Well,  I did better than I thought after about 2 weeks of not tracking.  I started the CC journey on April 7, 2008 and I am down a total of 7.2 lbs.  I guess I just want it to go faster than it is, but for that to happen I am going to have to work harder. Smile   I am just about 6ft tall, and have 157 lbs to loose and that will put me at 200lbs.  You can do the math, this is the first time that I have put my stats out here, as I am totally embarrassed by this, but that is my motivation. Oh yeah and I will be the big 4  0  in a couple of months.

I have been heavy pretty much my entire life, but this is the heaviest I have ever been. My husband is somewhat supportive, but it seems that he is always offering me things that I shouldn't have like my fav carmel peanut clusters,  he means well.  He has never had to worry about his weight as he has a high metabolism.

Both of my parents are heavy, my mom has high blood pressure and bad arthritis.  I can tell if I don't get moving more that I am going to be like her.  I have 2 sisters and they both struggle a bit with weight but nothing in comparison to me.  My brother has really never had any trouble with his weight cept now he is getting older he is getting a little thicker.

I know that this is going to be a long journey, but I also know that with some ups and downs I can do this....  You all are my inspiration, it helps me alot to know that I am not alone in this. Smile  Hope you all have a great week.

I find it very liberating to air out my "stats" online. I'm still embarrassed to admit my actual weight to any of my friends...who are much smaller than me. Maybe i'll get past that one of these days. but anyway, thank goodness for the internet where you can be brutally honest. I know what you mean about wanting to lose it quick too....don't we all? I started around March and hope to be down significantly by the end of the year. Just in time for holiday food. Dang it!!

Congrats to everyone on their continued hard work!!Smile

hahaha. thanks for the tip. usually my 9am coffee does me in. don't get me started on the night i ate 5 fiber 1 bars....wow. and of course any of that sugar free russell stover chocolate..those are murder on the old colon. it must be the surbitol or sugar alcohol or whatever. i had to call in sick to work once after eating half a bag of that mess. thought i was gonna die.

Laughing

oh yes, the weigh in

monday april 28 weight 101.00 kilos = 223 lb

monday may 5 weight 97.80 kilos = 216 lbs, ie lost 7 lbs

very happy week although it was not easy (i was working a lot in the garden and walked daily, so the loss was much faster than usual). i was not very good with food yesterday, but am back on track.

Welcome pancha & Congrats on the 29 pounds you've already lost!! We are simply here to support & motivate one another on our journey of getting healthy! We weigh in once a week(kind of an accountablity thing) & just discuss how our day is going, or any successes we have experienced, or how crappy life can be. Pretty general & lots of fun. Everyone is really nice & fun to chat w/. Looking foward to learning more about you! Laughing

Does anyone else get irritated when they see a thread that has a title referring to how much weight they have to lose etc and they turn out to be a skinny chick trying to lose 5 pounds?  Undecided I see that and I want to scream! Yell It's like oh my word...they must think I'm HUGE if they think they are fat at a whopping 120 pounds.  Sealed

LOL - YES - of course I just walk away. There sure are a lot of them.

It can be a little depressing.. but if I'm not depressed or angered by it, then I try to say "One day that will be me again!"

But honestly I can remember when I weighed 118-120 and was a size 5/6 @ 15 years old and I really thought that a size 9 or 10 was just really huge. Of course.. now that's what I hope to get down to again!  If you haven't been bigger then you don't realize.

AND 5 lbs on a person that weighs 120 is a lot more percentage of weight, too. For me to lose 5 lbs to be 230 lbs will be great but it's not the same then.
Why yes I am interested in losing 100 pounds! lol Seriously that is my goal. I just joined CC last week and started my weight loss journey/lifestyle change 2 weeks ago. I didn't weigh myself until today... and WHOO HOO I lost 15 lbs so far!! SW: 275 CW:260! I am unable to exercise much at this point do to shattering my hip and femur last year in a car wreck.. I walk some but as soon as i get some of this weight off my leg I can get moving more. I am eating about 1300-1500 calories a day and I eat constantly. For example... Breakfast:bowl of Bran flakes with a cut up banana and skim milk. Snack: Apple or fiber one bar. Lunch: Turkey Breast on Double fiber wheat bread with mustard, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, and banana peppers. Snack: Apple or fiber one bar. Dinner: Homemade turkey burger and a big salad or grilled chicken and salad.....and Sugar free popsicles at 15 calories a pop are my new friend! Anyway just an idea of what I am doing...and of course tons of water! Any tips or pointers are very welcome!!

Thanks for your kind words Lonestar Penny, welcome to all, and congratulations to everyone on their losses.  This week has been going pretty well,  I have got out and walked a couple of times and feel pretty good about it. I still stuggle when we go out to eat, but am trying to make good choices,  any tips on how you deal with eating out would be appreicated.

I also get frustrated with thin people who walk around complaining about being fat.  My sister in law does this,  she probably weighs 95 lbs sopping wet with jeans and a sweater on....

Best wishes to all this week!

LOL! Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed them. :)

Steph...your right. It can be depressing. I don't think I ever weighted 120...lol! Well...I probably did when I was in 7th grade. I was a skinny kid until I went into 9th grade...then all of a sudden I started getting curves. Once I started developing it seems like it all went out of whack. Course I wasn't very active in High School. In 10th grade I think I weighed 150 lbs. HA! What I wouldn't do to be 150 NOW! Laughing

Anyway...good job everyone. We're headed in the right direction and getting healthier every day.

Welcome to the newbies! The more the merrier...Smile

Most people who walk around complaining they're fat are either 1) fishing for a compliment from their own insecurity, 2) being ridiculously obvious that they are not and are then meanly saying you are, or 3) have an image disorder. Or maybe all three!

You could address all three with replying something like, "I think you look just fine. But I'm trying to get in better shape, and maybe if you cut out eating that (soda, candy bar, etc) and work on a specific area to tone on your body, you'd feel more secure."

lol
