HI Meg!!! Good luck with your weight loss! OOOhhh a wedding, such a good goal to aim towards (well especially when its your own!)

Well I have to admit that I have been weighing almost daily and the scale devils have got me and as tues/wed I went down a pound each day thurs/fri I went up a pound each day. Now I know I hvaent eaten the calories for the weigh gain so I KNOW its water but it still sucks!  So I am now banished from weighing until Monday and only MONDAY!!!!  I am working ove rthe weekend both early shifts so I wont be having a sneaky drink eaither so my cals should stay quite minimal and good!

DccD, I try and stay around 1500 although the past couple of weeks I have been around 1750. I have been losing but if you read above I have also gained which I think cos i Have had the extra cal I have had exxtra salt (cos the extra cals came from rubbish like takeaways, crisps etc).  Have you tried the Zig Zag method? Not sure if this is a good link but just search 'zig zag method' and you should find loads http://www.calorie-count.com/forums/post/3194 1.html anyway good luck, off to do my pilates (which I found only burns about 30cals for a 10min session but hey its toning the muscles!!!)
Welcome Meg!  Looks like you and I have about the same goal.  I'm 6 pounds behind you, but I'm trying to reach 135, and I'm 5 ft 4.  For my chocolate cravings, I have bought just Hershey bars, broken off 3 small rectangles, and hid the rest for another day.  But you need to have enough self control to stop at 3.  I'll tell you, by the end of September will be quite a challenge.  My goal is to hit 160 by the time I let out of college for summer, and that leaves 25 to lose over the summer.

Going home to see my parents this weekend, and it semes like I paralleled you, Zulu.  I was going down a pound a day, and then I weighed this morning, and the two pounds were back!

No gym this weekend, but I'm going to do a LOT of exercising and stretches.  Two mile walk (and dragging mom along), some ab & glut exercises (I know two of each), and a lot of stretching.

About the parents' house... Usually filled with desserts, usually filled with calories... I may have to cook, and hide everything else.  I've been having 1000+ deficits (not on purpose, mind you) everyday, and now that my body's used to it, I'll be probably having right on 0 defs.

But it's whatever.  Going to have a filling meal before I leave campus, maybe it means I won't snack on the highway.
I weighed 177.8 pounds this morning, down 2 from last week. I did well with the calories this week but didn’t eat very healthy, pizza twice, fried dough, baja chicken sandwich at Quiznos last night, so I need to get better this week.

I have also found myself using the scale at home a few times a week even through I know it is not accurate. I just want to get an idea of where I am during the week. Seven days is a long time between weigh ins.

I typically drink only water but I’ve been craving juice lately. It’s tough to see it there in the refrigerator next to the jug of water and pass it up. Do you get looks from the waitress when you get only water when you go to a restaurant? For us it’s an easy way to limit calories and saves money, but they must be thinking we’re cheap and their tip is going to decrease.

I’m bracing myself for all the candy that I’ll be getting next week around valentine’s day and at Easter. Even through I’m 32 my parents still give a huge Easter basket filled with candy and it’s tough to stay away from. Even though you are on a diet are you still getting candy for Valentine’s day?

LEOP_I do need to break up my workouts. I am guilty of ignoring my upper body/abs/core because I am naturally a pear, and those areas haven't been problems like my lower half! I finally realized that I need to focus on my total body instead of spot reducing which we know is impossible.

I really need to drop 20 and tone up by mid May - fun trip booked and I want to wear a new bikini!! ;)

BTW, sorry if I get some of the names/spellings wrong. I really like this group!!

Dccd - I started out eating around 1200-1400 give or take, and my progress started to slow as of last week. So the last two days I've been eating around 1600-1700 and have gone down about .5 lb. Not sure if it was the extra water I drank flushing me out, or if my body likes me having those amount of calories! Test it :) if you can go up a little on your calories and still lose weight, that's great! I'm going to see if I can sustain weightloss this way, even though it's SO hard to eat so many calories that are healthy! (atleast for me anyways!)

Deely- I'm getting a bunch of candy for V-day :( and I'm going to a nice italian restaurant! (nasuoni gave me some good tips to keep on track there :P though ) I'm thinking I'll only allow myself 1 piece of candy per day...but that's going to be sooo hard! Ugh. The day after V-day I'm heading to Georgia to visit my fiance's family... I hope I don't overeat there.. his grandma loves to make monkey bread and all sorts of other southern goodness :(

Grats on 175.5 Nasuoni! I bought one of those fat% scales.. but I NEVER use it! I think I'm too chicken to see what it says :( (it's also a pain in the butt to use!)

Candy's not a problem for me.  I've been portioning a lot of it to lower chocolate cravings, like if i crave chocolate, I will have... like three small "mini bars" of a regular hershey bar, or only two m&m's... Then the rest goes in the fridge for later.

Nasuoni  I don't use the percentage indicator, I have one that, after you weigh yourself, it tells you how much more or less you weighed than last time.  Like if you're at 175 now and you were 177 yesterday, it'll say 175, and then three seconds later is has a down arrow and a 2.  Got it at walmart... I like it.

Deely!  As for the water thing... I used to be a waitress, and it didn't usually signify someone's cheapness unless they ordered an appetizer instead of the meal, or something like that.  It happens a lot, actually.

Today I had two dinners (unhealthy dinners, mind you), because I got invited for dinner at my best friend's house.... And I don't say no to an Italian!!! Haha... And it was right after a very unfilling salad at McDonalds...  I ended up with 1500 calories for the day nonetheless!  I don't know how that happened.

I'm with you all for the not-as-healthy weeks. I had domino's pizza yesterday, and McDonalds today.  And my chocolate craving was up, so I ended up with a few extra pieces of candy than usual.  But still, the weight keeps coming off, so I must be doing something right.

EDIT:  One other thing... on a more somber note... Here I was, eating healthy and feeling great doing it, and the one night I eat considerably less healthy (at McDonalds), it feels like a cloud passed before my eyes.  I feel horrible tonight.  Like... depression set in...
Hang in there Leo and don't be so hard on yourself for the setback. We all do it and the more we beat ourselves up about it the harder it seems to be to get back into the good groove.  Forgive yourself and move on. (This is something I am REALLY working on for myself too! :)  )

Kirie - I am trying to eat more filling things and more calories, apples, pears (really make you full!), etc. Of course I'm eating real stuff too, so hopefully the scale will go down. On a positive note, I've lost a few inches in my weekly measurements!  SO excited about that. Maybe all this working out is making a difference if not on the scale. :)

I bought "Hip Hop Abs" LOL!! I thought it would be fun to learn the "young and hot" moves while burning up the calories. Hubby and son are laughing at me, but I'm trying to convince them to join in. ;)

BTW, have any of you tried the Tofu Shirataki noodles? I have and they are really good!! If you can get past the texture (some can't but I can for a pasta fix!!) they are really yummy and filling. I'm Italian so it's hard for me to avoid pastas too often.

I binged a lunch... I am fine by it. It just means I can't have more than a Slim Fast shake for dinner.  The Slim Fast mix is better, I shall tell you.  If you get French Vanilla, the stuff that's left in the bottom (doesn't stir quite all the way), it tastes like cookie dough!

I had a bad workout... It's discouraging because I had much more calories today than usual, 1776.  I started on the treadmill, and five minutes in, I got dizzy and light headed, but pushed to a half hour, when I realized I couldn't go any further. Then I drank a bunch of water and slowly walked home...  And I'm still dizzy and I have a headache.

Hi Frehug- welcome. We're all in this together and we can do it!  Let's keep ourselves motivated and we'll be good to go by summer. I have a couple things coming up, one in May (which I'd like to be in the low 160s for, and then in July, which I'd LOVE to be in the 140s for, but I'll take 150s.

HA I have a long way to go but I'm motivated. :) My goals are to make healthy choices (most of the time!), eat at regular intervals so I am not starving and binging, and to keep moving (exercise at any opportunity--from "official" at the gym, to dancing around when I like a song!).  Oh yeah, and to forgive myself when I screw up and not go on a 3 day bad bender.  :)

Welcome in, Frehug!  Glad to see a new face!

I'm feeling much better today (it took a bit of waking up to get this far).  I'm going to the gym tonight and I'm going to make an attempt at an hour of the treadmill, and half hour of the bike.  Maybe more, maybe less.  My recurring headaches could be due to not eating quite as healthily this weekend, but I'm getting back on track.

It must NOT be clementine season... This little orange is smaller than an 8-year-old's fist!  But it's to be my happy snack of the day :)

Still doing heavy-duty studying, I took a test today for my Sociology of Deviance class, and I have another test for Cognitive Psychology tomorrow.  Then to study for all of next week's painful brain workout!

I think I'm going to ask if my bf can buy me that scale for my birthday (in 12 days!! :D)

 

I'm excited at the prospect of continuing to bounce up and down, but it continues to go down, slowly, but surely.

Was 174.8 yesterday, now I'm 176.8 today. Sodium weight, no doubt. I started pilates again, and I'm loving it. Waking up half hour early on some days to do it before I shower in the morning :) Totally awesome way to start the day.

So today ends my first official month on my new "lifestyle" and I've lost 7.8 lbs! Not too shabby at all :) It's starting to slow down quite a bit, but I don't care at all :D

Some great news for me: My former exchange student is coming to visit with her sister from Japan in March! I'm so excited! She always brings some crazy treats with her (I'll have to ask her to try and make them healthy though :P ) Last time she brought these instant cup of noodles (not the normal kind, these are clear noodles) and they were only 25 calories for the WHOLE thing. I'm totally going to have to stock up on them.. if only I could remember the name though. >.<

Ate too much, saw the scale this morning.  Back up to 188; I wonder if I'm dehydrated...?  I didn't go to the toilet very often yesterday and I didn't go when I got up.  Water retention... sucks...

I'm going to go for less salt today, have a few extra pieces of fruit...

I worked out enough yesterday that I SHOULD HAVE been either the same or less today.  I'll stop staring at the scale...
