Weight Loss

I'm a dieting veteran.... up and down the same 20lbs since highschool! I've always lost it on Weight Watchers...but I wanted to try something new. So, here I am. I'm looking to start a group of late 20- early 30 year olds who are interested in losing weight and getting healthy. I'm 5' 9" 160lbs. I'm looking for others that have about 20-30lbs to lose. Hopefully there's some people out there!!
Happy New Year!
I used to go to curves and I found that it worked really well. I didn't lose as much weight as I wanted to (about 15 lbs) but my muscles were nicely toned. I only went for about 4 months. I felt like I didn't fit in there but that was just me.
Anyways, just joined CC a few days ago and am looking forward to keeping track of my diet and excersice. I am 27,5'9 and a whopping 240lbs!! I have 2 girls, my first in 2002 which I went from 172lbs to almost 260! I only ever lost 20lbs of it and just had another baby in November who, thankfully, I only put on 22 lbs with and was back to pre pregnant size right away. According to this I need to eat 1950 calories (I'm breastfeeding so I know I need an additional 300), and I should aim for 154 lbs by Sep. 2009. I think that 154 is a little to small for me so I'm going to aim for the 172 I was before ever having kids. I'm not big on excercise but do plenty of walking, I'm really concerned about what I'm eating! My newborn keeps me up till 2am everynight and I find myself eating lots of junk then. I have a killer sweet tooth and want to know if anyone has any suggestions for healthier choices on sweets?

oh, and i forgot to ask...does anyone here belong to curves or has belonged in the past? i was considering it as an option for exercise.
I just dropped my membership, but went for a little over a year. It was good for me because it was quick and mindless. You don't find yourself standing there and thinking, "what should I do today?", you just do the circuit and get out of there.
I lost 15.5 lbs and 18 inches the first 8 months without changing my diet at all, and have kept it all off. That was going twice a week and walking three times a week. I would recommend it to anyone, but don't expect it to work if you aren't willing to carve out the 2-3 times a week to go.
I left because they don't have child care and my workout buddy who would watch my girls while I went, wasn't into it anymore. Get a trial membership and check it out!
Good Morning All,
Man it's so great to hear about your weight loss. Keep up the great work. I had a nice 3 day weekend. My hubby and I worked out at the gym and it's so nice to have another activity that we both enjoy and is actually healthy for us to do together.
I rested sunday and yesterday and am hitting the gym later on today after work. Just a suggestion as most of us have kids. Before ever signing up for a gym I'd get a tour and check out their Kid zone and if they don't have one then don't sign up because that's the easiest excuse to get out of working out is that you don't have a sitter. 24Hour Fitness where we got our membership has a kid zone open all the time and inside they have activities and a full play area like Mcdonalds playland so the kids actually have something fun to do while you get in your workout.
It was a huge seller for me and now I can't ever use having my kids as an excuse for not working out. Have a great week.
Good Morning All,
I joined CC about a week ago. I'm 26 and weigh in at 169lbs. I'm looking to lose between 30-40lbs by the summer. To ladygrenadine you mentioned that you had a big sweet tooth, here are some suggestions that you can try.
1 cup of fresh raspberries and vanilla yogurt: High in fiber and the raspberries will give you that sweet kick you are craving.
1 cup Jello fat-free chocolate pudding and a teaspoon of peanut butter. Eating this together taste just like a Reese's peanut butter cup without the extra calories and fat.
Good luck to everyone this week with their weight loss goals![]()

Does anyone have any suggestion on weight machines at gym vs. using dumbells or doing taebo/pilates? Also, my problem is that I don't feel like going to gym after work and I am not an early riser either. Once I am at gym, I love it and not in any rush to go home. What do you all to get motivated to go to gym?
Hi sab120, I love sleeping late if I get the chance, and like you I don't really feel like going to the gym after work, I'd rather just go home and relax. When I was a regular in the gym, I worked out with the "Big Boys" pounding heavy weights and I learned a key phrase, "When in doubt . . . go heavy." Well of course being a woman and not wanted to completely lose my boobs, I modified the phrase to, "When in doubt, go to the gym." When I'm coming up to the exit for the gym, to quiet the going home and relaxing rationale inside my head I repeat the phrase to myself and just go to the gym. So my trick is, just make it like going to work, there is no question about whether or not to go, just go. And relaxing afterwards will be that much better!
Now if I could only take my own advice and get back to the gym, I'd lose these 20 lbs. in no time!
Weighed in yesterday, 155.5 down from 158! Great to see something less on the scale. Thank you all for your support and great tips! Keep it going!

After not being able to excersice for 4 weeks, being totally ocd about counting calories....I HAVE LOST WEIGHT!!!!!
I am down to 148 pounds!
Also...why does my weight fluctuate by 5 pounds between the a.m and p.m.? Either way-it shows the lost weight but htat is alot of pounds durin the day?!?!
karen.... you are too funny. read your first post on this thread a while back.... had me laughing.mainly because i can relate to a lot of it. congrats to you on 148.
i am anxiously and impatiently waiting to hit the 140's. i'm still at 155. driving me nuts. i eat healthy 90% of the time, but change is slow to come. i don't even have cravings for anything and no appetite at all, but i still eat.
my only consolation is that i just found out yesterday that the place where i'm doing my internship has a gym in the building that is dirt cheap for employees. i have access for the 3 months. gotta make the most of that.
not giving up....140's hear i come.
Karen, congrats on the weight loss!
My weight can vary up to 5 lbs between the morning and night as well, I think most people are like that. It is a combo of the undigested food in your stomach, the fluids you are drinking, the water you may retain due to sodium intake, etc...
Keep up the great work everyone!
Hey all,
Man what a day! My youngest daughter wakes up sick with a stomach virus, then my oldest comes home from school cause she says she is sick also. It's amazing though that once she got home she had a miraculous recovery.lol
Tonight is my workout. I've been doing really good about going and not missing the gym. My hubby is still greatly supportive and I'm feeling better. My insecurity is still there and I have to have his reassurance that he loves me rather than wanting some barbie doll girl that is already at her goal.
I got my results from my thyroid test and my diabetes check and both are clear. So now all I gotto do is push the hard work and stay at it. I was at 198 last fri and I'm excited to see what tomorrow the scale says. Aunt Flo decided to show up so I'm sure maybe some pounds are lingering around because of that so if I don't have much loss I'm not going to freak out. Hell I may and then need yall to tell me to keep going.lol
It's supposed to freeze wild here in TX tonight so that will be an adventure. How's everyone week so far?
Sorry I've been MIA guys--work has benn kicking my (hopefully-shrinking) behind! I'm so glad this thread has taken off so well :)
After another less than stellar weekend, I've been eating really well since Monday and have gotten in a workout every day so far! Wahoo. Still refusing to get on the scale until Monday though... I'll keep you guys posted.
Foxy_lady--I'm in for the clean eating challenge. I promise to be better about checking in and everything!
Hi everyone.
Karen!!!!! Congrats girl, you are my inspiration for the week. I too can make it to the 140's. I'm like the little engine that could.
I think I can... I think I can... I think I can...
I'm finding that my clean eating challenge is helping alot. I have to admit, though, that I'm cheating all over the place. I have friends in from out of town and I've had dessert, yummy really naughty foods and more booze than any one person should consume. :P But all-in-all I'm choosing pretty wisely and feel good.
runner_girl, I hope your clean eating challenge is going well...
PEACE
p.s. Has anyone read the Abs Diet book?
Weigh in day for me and I made it to the gym and lost 1 pound. Total for now I'm from 202 to 197. Feeling Great!
Hot mama here I come!:)
I'm waiting until Monday to weigh in again. I might just be bloated from all the soup I've been eating lately and a lack of water...
