Original Post by jacksnacks: I am 271, 5'2", 35 year old female and I am eating 1800-1900 a day and burning 500 calories a day with exercise (400 net, since I would still burn about 100 in that hour if I were not doing anything). I am losing about 2 lbs/week. Since you weigh more, are male, are taller and younger and exercise more... I would think you can definitely eat more than I do! I am no expert but I think you should eat more like 2500 or maybe more. When I was 340 I lost while eating 2250/day and exercising probably about the same as you do now (I miss summer) ... and again, older, shorter, female. |

I've been bad.
I've missed going to the gym for over ten days and I've ate too much since New Years. I hit 318 but have recoiled up to 322 as of this morning. I'm very angry with myself for messing up. I let a personal event rattle me up and for the first time in 5 months I coped with something by eating. Yesterday, I had a good day eating wise, I feel better today and I think I've gotten back on track. IF I had stayed focused I'd probably have went from 318 to 315 instead of being stuck at 322 like I am now. |

HAPPY MID MONTH !!
Is there even such a thing :P Im holding off untl tonight to make a post with some update to allow everyone wanting to the chance to check in. More then half have already! Leah - see your heading down into the 200s now, good going. Yesterday sounds like a important one Train- after a stage like you went through, that first good day means a lot. When I was dieting and would break it at winter holiday, I would never get back on at New Years and beore I knew it summer had arrived with much of a gain. Wishing you luck today and tomorrow - dont forget, I right behind you trying to catch up LOL! Good luck staying the course today and each following. |

Original Post by trainwreck: Hey, don't beat yourself up - it is counterproductive. You stopped it before it could get out of hand - only 4 lbs and it will come off fast. |

Original Post by jacksnacks: hey jacksnacks, i'm brett. we are very similar in size and age and all. i'm 6'2", 24 years old, and started out at 320. I am down to 296 now. But I was gonna tell you that I have read a lot about this and for very overweight people, like us, the deficit can be more than a thousand calories. So I wouldn't stick to eating 4000 calories like the site says. The site tells me I burn about 4000 in a day, so I should be eating 3000. But that is waaay too much. So I have been eating around 1500 a day and have been losing. So I'd say stick to what you have been doing, maybe eat a little more and you should be fine. Hope this helps. Also, I see you rep the bay. I'm from San Jose and think that is awesome. Whoopty Whoop! -Brett |

| I gained a few lbs from Christmas to this past weekend. I lost one of my dogs during that time and turned to food and drink for comfort. I'm not even sorry I did! In fact, I can say, I don't regret a single amount of the joy and comfort that food, drink (wine & rich, dark beer), and good company lent me during the holiday season. I figure it's worth the 6 lb, 2 of which I've already lost. | ||

I agree aovermy - there are things we have to get thru and doing what it takes is all we can do. Im sorry about your dog and am glad you were able to find some comfort to cope thru it.
I also received a very high cal count allowance but set my rate to normal calories most people are alloted for dieting. Its if I fall below them that my weightloss stalls. I find that short term gains like holidays or the dreadful binges come off so much faster then my normal losses. Ive heard things about leaving the high salt diet of bad food choices and not retaining water - whatever it is, its always a nice reward for getting back on the wagon. |

hey whatsup bro thanks for the reply I appreciate it very much... I agree with you eating a little bit more is probably the best thing and Im excersizing like crazy. Today I walked 3 miles, 25 minutes on the eliptical, played basketball for 45 minutes, weight lifiting for 25 minutes. Ive been doing this everyday (minus the weights every other day and miss on the basketball some days too. and Yadid-I-Mean hell yea I hella rep the bay bout to move back up there in a few months to either Berkeley or Santa Rosa. Ive been down here in L.A. for about a year now but its to expensive (even though the bay is right there too) I think I can get more work up there and Im trying to finally finish school.. stay posted to this thread and keep me updated cuz Ill be on here.. |

My MID-MONTH NUTRITION REPORT shows how I've been doing, nutritionally and calorically, for January 1-15, 2008. This helps let me know if I need to "tweak" anything for the second half of the month. Here's the results ... Fat - 14.0% (374 grams) (GOAL ... around 15%) Daily Calorie Intake - 1,439 cals (GOAL ... 1500 calories) I am pretty pleased with the results for the first half of January ... my fiber is higher than ever (how DOES that happen?) and my carbohydrates are exactly where they need to be to help keep my blood sugar under control. And, since I am currently burning 2440 calories per day ... the 1439 still gives me an average of 1000-calories-per day as a deficit. So far, so good! How's everyone else doing for January? =^..^= MOLLY |

Thanks for the encouragement. I stayed focused yesterday and ate only what I should plus water so I stepped on the scales today and was 319.6
I think my two weeks only cost me a pound - well 2 weeks and a pound. I can live with that. |

just stepped on the scale this morning and couldnt be happier with the number.. 336 lbs. so thats minus 14 lbs this week seeing as I was at 350 on the 9th.. adding this walking (3 miles a day) and eating a little bit more is helping me out so much. Im gonna try to add another 100-200 cals a day this week and keep up with the excersize of 2-3 hours a day of various things and see how well I do. I know the loss this week is mainly do to me not being good for about a month over X-MAS break and finally getting back on it but Im still really happy. I havent been this light since freshman year of high school which was almost 8 years ago.. I didnt think I was gonna make my goal of under 300 by my 22cnd birthday but now I think its possible, with some hardwork.. so now Ive lost 70 lbs total since august and it feels great.. Everyone else keep up the great work! |

Ive updated the above post to get you on there too. :D I realize Im like that too - its been a good while since Ive been this low and it makes me feel younger, or should I say more my age. I felt too old not being able to do what I wanted and Im not there yet but already just living more of a life. | ||

Hello Group, I am happy to inform you that as of January 11, 2008 I am down to 391 pounds for a total weight loss of 65 pounds. My weight loss has dramatically subsided due to slipping on ice about 5 weeks ago. Been going to see a physical therapist because I have a pulled muscle on my arm and shoulder and my rotator cup in my left arm is out of whack and I have had to get a cortisone shot to stop some of the severe pain in my arm. Have not been exercising just sticking too the 1500 calories a day I am allowed to eat. I am hoping to make a full recovery very soon so that I can get back into the swing of exercising to see if I can meet the next 60 pound goal I have set for myself! Thank you for all the motivation and strength you continue to give me day after day and for being there for me at my time of weakness!!!

SW: 458.5 LOST:000.0 GW: 180 (small enough to get knee surgury) BMI 76.0
I am now in the very small group of 450 and over. I weighed today and my weight went up over the holidays to 458.5. Considering I have end stage arthritis in my knees this 15 Fifthteen!!!!!! pound increase over 3 months is hell on me and my knees and I finally hit rock bottom a few weeks ago when I could not bandage my a cut on my own foot and had to call my mommy to do it...I am 39 years old so this was embarrassing. Also scary. I get all serious, pay through the nose to join Gold's and then not only get a horrible cold but crack a rib coughing. So here I am all motivated and no where to put that energy except here so dont be surprised to see me popping up. I really love this site and having to be true to what I eat and account for it helps a lot, it helps me think about it ahead of time, I think "How will that look on my chart?" "Will I be embarrassed to see that on my food list?" stuff like that. As I read more I learn more and having given up soda, most sweets (except a few healthy or very low cal treats) and hopefully fast food , I begin to realize just how much of my diet was junk. Now I dont seem to struggle to keep it under 2000 cal (my starting point til I get use to cutting out the junk, then I will drop it down) Having others who are going through the same kind of stuff helps alot and I hope I can help others

Trina, Starting at 465, heading to 175 and also severely challenged due to knee damage, we are a similar pair. I had intervention to turn things around. You are taking the initiative and I so admire that! I can tell you that going from 465 last year to 360 now has made a huge difference for me - being able to stand longer, fitting in chairs, clothes and I know Im missing other things. Plus on the way to a weight to get me knees taken care of and claim back some of my mobility will be beyond words. Heres to a better quality of life !! Wishing you recovery for your rib. Speaking of recovery, that arm sounds painful too Diane! Shout out for that 391 weight!! Great how youve managed not to be sidetracked with your injury. Sixty lbs down, 60 to go and you'll be enjoying the 200s. Wishes for your next goal :D. aovermy - popping you up on the OP. Good to see that you are in a better place after what you've dealt with and props for focusing on yourself and health. Off to the clinic, off to the scale .... |
