Hey everyone.  Just wanted to say that Day 1 is finally over.  It wasn't too bad and I ended up being 109 calories under my daily calorie goal.  I went biking for an hour this evening and worked up a  pretty good sweat.  However, I refused to get out of bed for my 30 min walk this morning and didn't walk home from work so I gotta stop  making excuses starting tomorrow.

I have a short term goal to lose some weight by September as I just found out I'm going on a spontaneous trip to California in early September.  I don't know if this is unrealistic or not but I'd love to lose 15 pounds in the next 6 weeks?  Even just be down a size so that I can feel a bit better and be able to shop and get some nice clothes without leaving the stores upset because I'm not a size 6.

A big congrats to the "losers" that I've seen posting their success!!!  GREAT JOB  everyone :)  Everyone here seems to be so motivating and you guys are really inspiring to me and I hope I can achieve the success that you guys have :)

Cheers!~

I lost 5 lbs this week, if it would only remain this easy it would be a cinch lol, but I know it won't, once I stop making cuts in my carb intake the weight won't come off so easy :( but thats life. WTG everyone, and best wishes.

Hi,

I'm new to the site and I qualify for the 200plus group. I've lost ten pounds since June 1, 2007 but I'm kind of stuck at 225 lbs. right now. I have lost another inch in my waist, though, so the weight is moving around I guess. I also have stronger muscles now, so I feel so much more energetic. Cool! And my blood sugar, after meals, has been in the 130's and 140's so that is VERY GOOD.

sorry i didn't post my promised recipe last night....i was busy avoiding my the dolce de leche ice cream with carmel swirl my sister made, and the cookies my mom bought! It was tough but i didn't eat any of it!!! Yay me!

I did have a small bag of cheeze it's though, but at 150 cal it was worth it to take my mind off the ice cream and cookies.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I've lost 3lbs. this week.  Just 3 more to go before I've officially lost 100lbs.  I still have a long journey ahead of me but I can't wait til the day I get on the scale and it reads 1xx instead of 2xx.  =)

rtd - Great job on your 5 pound weight loss this week. That's awesome. Would you like to share your strategy with the rest of us?

Motivateme (Crystal) - Great job on your 3 pound weight loss this week. Wow, you're almost to a 100 pound loss@! Awesome! Keep up the good work. What is your strategy? Are you on a diet or a lifestyle change.

Patrasha - I'm impressed with the way you just said "NO" to that rich dessert last night. Normally, I avoid the cheese its, but that was a reasonable compromise. Good going!

It's definitely a lifestyle change for me, but it's one I can easily live with.  I'm not hungry, I don't feel deprived, I occassionally have something that I know isn't ideal but in the 6 months I've been doing this I've maintained a deficit every single day except 1 day while on vacation.  I was worried that one meal would send me down the path to destruction but it didn't.  The next day was business as usual and no regrets.
#153 hopeful31 Jul 17 2007 15:55
wow, motivateme320, that's awesome... 100lb loss...i can't wait til i can say that.  I've only lost 5lbs so far but every little bit counts..right!!!!!!

So far i've been walking 3 days a week for about 3 miles.  I was trying to do 5 days this week but unfortunately its been pretty rainy (rain continueing til thursday) so i'll just have to do some cardio in the living room.

Keep up the good work everybody!!!!!

fast food....who knew!

So due to my crazy schedule I'm going to be forced to eat drive thru food for dinner tonight.  I knew that salad was an option...but it just won't cut it for dinner, so i resigned to having to go off track for one meal. Well, I was searching around the website and found that i can have a small wendy's chilli and a sour cream and chives potatoe for only 550 cal! Who Knew! So it looks like i'll be able to stay on track after all, whoopee!!!

Wish me luck, and send "stay away from the frosty" vibes my way!

motivateme320 said something very important.

To quote:

I was worried that one meal would send me down the path to destruction but it didn't.  The next day was business as usual and no regrets.

For me this is about changing how I eat and what I use food for.  In other words, changing habits.  All to often I would "forget" or accidently eat the wrong thing.  My reaction would be ...all this work down the drain...might as well enjoy myself... and out would come the ice cream.

But Cyrstal has it exactly right.  If you get off track with a meal...no big deal, you just pick up and do what you have been doing.  The "failure" does not have to be catastrophic...

Hello, I'm new to the website. My starting weight was 276 and I have already lost about 61 pounds with around 58 more to go. My goal weight being 157 to get back into the healthy range. Right now I'm just looking for motivation to get back on track as I was stuck at about 225 for a couple months and only recently started losing again.  Congrats to everyone else who has lost weight as well.
#157 shoeofkuribo Jul 17 2007 20:25
Congratulations, all of you who have lost so much already! It is very inspiring to me to hear your stories, those of you who started where with a huge load to lose, and have had so much success doing the same things I'm doing. It continues to encourage me that I'm doing the right things, and that it WILL work.

My boss keeps trying to convince me to try Atkins, and to give up bread and sugar completely - and there's just no way that would work for me. It's unreasonable to me; I can't live that way! The reason I'm succeeding with CC is that I'm not cutting out anything particular, just learning the lifelong knowledge of how many calories are in various foods, and using that knowledge to make smart choices.

Congratulations to motivateme320 (crystal) and rtd on your weight losses for the week and a big kudos to patrasha as that ice cream sounds too good to pass up but you did it anyway!  I agree Crystal that getting off track with one meal isn't a big deal.  I've finally come to terms with the fact that this is a lifestyle change and that completely depriving myself of something isn't going to work.

I find that creating a menu for the week really helps or at least having your meals planned the day before.  Then every Sunday mom, sister and I got out for a meal and treat ourselves.  It's never anything bad like fast food but rather a steak, or chicken or seafood but just something we don't have to cook ourselves.  And if we go somewhere where we know the portions are too big my mom and I will split something.

As for you shoeofkuribo, don't bother with the Atkins.  I tried it for about a week and by the end I was exhausted and had major headaches due to lack of carbohydrates.  You're on the right track with counting calories and learning what food choices are smart choices.

I think everyone here is doing great and seeing such losses like motivateme320's (as I want to lose 100 pounds) is such a great movitator for me and I'm sure for all of us.  We're all in this together :)

I stepped on the scale this morning...and I lost five pounds!  It seems like such a small thing, but I feel so much better than I did a week ago...I like the weight history progress counter...how much you have lost and how much you have to go.  When you see both numbers together like that it makes what I have to loose (135 lbs now) seem less daunting...

I think I will go have an apple to celebrate
#160 trapp32 Jul 18 2007 18:05
Congrats on the five pounds that is great. I weigh tomorrow wish me luck.
