the shorties but wanna be thinnies club! littlesara
  Jun 03 2007 22:24
Hi!  I'm  hoping to start a shorties club, probably for women because mostly women are 4'11" - Idk maybe 5'4", it could vary a little i guess.  Does anyone want to join?  We shorty women (or I should say "petite") need to stick together, especially women who are older (because our metabolism sucks sometimes), but age could vary also, it doesn't matter.  Just wondering if there is already a thread for this, been searching but haven't found one yet.  Your starting weight could vary also, i'm not picky.  Women just have alot harder time dropping the weight (i.e. monthly cycles, moods, water weight, you know...)

Me:  Just started this website on 5/30/07

Starting Weight was:  121lbs (stubborn pounds)

My Height is:  5'0"

My age is:  38

My activity level is:  Moderate (Light)

My Calorie Expenditure is:  (around 1700- it varies with exercise)

My goal weight is:  110!

My goal date is:  8/30/07

My current weight:  6/3/07 is:  119!

What else?  Oh and my daily calorie intake is between 1200-1400 (1600 on a bad day)

Anybody else want to join.  I would love support and fellow chat members, kay? thanks!

P.S. I know that it only seems like I have a little to lose, but BELIEVE ME, those are the most stubborn last pounds to go!

Hello all,

I want to join in with the shorties.

Starting weight:120

Height:  4'11

Age:  36

Activity Level:  Light-Moderate

Calories: 1200-1600

Goal Weight:  115, maybe 110

Current weight:  119

I started losing weight before I found this site.  I was up to about 127 which is really big for me as I have a small frame.  When I joined CC, I was 120lbs.  It seems like whenever I get to 117 or 118, I start gaining again.  It is really hard for me to lose 5 lbs.  I think I need to increase my activity level and do more strength training.  Any advice for me?

nycgirl-I like that zigzagging plan. I think I may try it next week. I have a family reunion coming up and I will probably eat 2000 calories on that day. I think it is easier doing it that way instead of mixing every other day.
#143 nycgirl Jul 28 2007 05:26
Well I ate 2100 calories today so this upcoming week will be the true test of whether weekend zigzagging works. I can tell you though I feel super bloated after tonight and consumed loads of rice and had a big lunch so we will soon see. I don't feel good which is never a good sign! I will update everyone what happens .......

OMG you guys.... I mean gals!  Is this Normal???  I weighed 129.5 then I gained weight during "that time of the month"...... My friend always loses a pound or two.... and I gained?!?!   She said women usually LOSE because they're losing fluid.... Is this true?

Anyways.... glad to see that most are doing good.... AND glad to see that more are joining the shorties but goodies,

Moody

Well, ok, so eating 2100 calorie meals isn't the best idea :) LOL! I am up a pound from 108 but I am still in the 109s so I am PSYCHED anyway. Holding steady under 110, yippee! Hoping 108-109 will become my new set point until next month when I hope to drop the final 3 pounds to reach my ultimate maintenance goal.

Hey everyone!  I haven't been on here in almost a month!  got really discouraged there for awhile and realized that i was too focused, you know, and starting to get obsessive.  so i backed off for a few weeks, and now i feel better.  i'm so happy to see that this thread is still rockin!

I'm thinking, maybe i was super bloated, that's why my measurements were off, and my thighs don't measure bigger than my hips, it's just my hips (lowest point) kind of stick out, make sense?  so, i was pretty sad there for a minute.

but, guess what, not being on this site, i have maintained my current weight, which is somewhere between 120-123, and have never gone over my 1200 for the day!  so, i guess i did learn something after all!

anyhoo, i'm glad to be back, i just will not be obsessive this time.

Welcome to all the newbies!!!!  :)

Congrats on being out of the dumps littlesara. I know how you feel about it as I was there big-time last month and felt sad and depressed about it, even though I knew I had made major progress. It does pass though as you pointed out and once you emerge you often feel more ready to tackle the world than before.

So I have had a good August so far. Pretty regularly I have been doing 4 x 1200 calorie days in a row and then a few 1500 and maybe one 1800-2000 a week and things are still looking good. My monthly average calorie intake is still 1500 and I am still losing. I weighed in at 107.8 today which is my lowest in years and I feel good/healthy. I walked up the 8 flights to work tonight without even a blink of an eye and barely a pant. I still need to amp up the exercise as I am a skinny fat girl with flab that is unrivaled by anyone my weight or height but that's something I am working on now that I am approaching my weight goal.

(please note that even though my scales reports 107.8 I found out recently it's 3 lbs high as compared to the medical scales at the doctor's office but I still report my scales to be consistent with my weightloss overall).

Hello everyone, Lost one more pound since July 26. Down to 120 from 130. I would still like to lose 5 to 10 pounds more. Everything is slowing down, I really never got around to zigzagging so I think I am stuck in a plateau. I don't think I will stress about it though. As long as I am not gaining it is ok. I am going to dinner at my cousin's house tonight. They decided to make a Thanksgiving dinner in August. Ooh boy. I better keep an eye on my portions. It could get ugly!

Hi, I am

Height: 5 foot 1

SW: 145

CW: 143

GW: 110 or 115

I am consuming 1200-1500 calories a day. Exercising as much as I can and I try to stick to healthy food. I always stay within my calories but I will admit I sometimes eat unhealthy food. Hopefully I can lose this way still.

Hi everyone!

I would like to share my experience today. I went clothes shopping (which I dread) because some of my pants and shorts are too big. I have lost about 12.5 pounds. Dont't get me wrong, I am happy about it but looking in the dressing room mirror I still feel like I am so flabby and still have so much to lose. My goal when I started was 115 and I weigh 118 right now. I am so close to my goal, but I don't think losing 3 more pounds will make me look like I want to. Do any of you ever feel this way? I just joined and started the program at the end of June so I have made progress so far. I guess I am just wishing the flab would fall off. I have been putting the weight on for years so it will take a while to get in shape. Maybe it is just one of those days to vent. I think they put trick mirrors in dressing rooms!

L,

Yes, I feel the same as you.  I'm 5 ' 0 too and in my 40's now.  I'm 110 lbs,  and although the walking program I've been on for 3 months  is toning me up, I still can pinch more than an inch in some locations.  I've lost only a few lbs, but get discouraged once in a while too, when I see how far I still need to go!  But I wouldn't jepardize my progress for nothing.  I am on a roll, and very excited!  I know I will get there, it's just going to take several months.  And this time the weight is going to stay off, because I've changed my eating and exercise habits.  :)

Thanks rachelrobin, it's nice to have support on here and know that someone feels the same way. Your comments describe my situation exactly. My husband is very motivating, reminding me of my progress and it will take time. I must learn to be patient!

L,

I'm fortunate also to have a a good husband who supports my efforts!  I look forward to sharing progress reports with you on CC.

Hello everyone,

Well, I found the perfect club because I definetly am short.

Name:  Robin

Height: Four feet, nine inches

Starting weight on January 4, 2007 137 pounds

Weight as of today, August 12, 2007 Drum Roll

101 pounds!!!!  Here is my problem, and it know it is going to sound silly.  I still see myself as fat and ugly.  I don't know how to like myself.  How do I do that?  I am being serious.  I really think that I am still ugly even though I have lost about 35 pounds this year.  Take care everyone.  Robin Brock
#158 nycgirl Aug 12 2007 06:03
Well done Robin, your weightloss success is incredible!! How did you do it, was it all calorie counting or also exercise????

Our stories are sort of similar ......... Jan 1, 2007 I was 129+lbs. I am now 107ish (probably more like 109-110 on a more accurate scale). I am thinner for sure, have dropped many dress sizes. I also however, feel the same. Well not exactly the same b/c I am more confident now that my clothes fit, but I still feel a little gross. It's not every day though. For me, it seems to depend on what I eat. I ate poorly today for example (high fat chinese food, yuck!) so tonight I feel down and gross (it's not necessarily calories but rather the healthfulness of what I eat). Also my body fat percentage is still higher than it should be (the proverbial skinny fat girl issue) ... I am confident that as I tone up (regardless of whether I lose more weight) I will feel better about myself and start to love the new slimmer, healthier me.

Have you been working out? Maybe if you haven't been doing too much, you could increase that aspect of your routine and see if it helps you. We could compare notes.

We have lived in these bodies we were unhappy with for so long and convinced ourselves that we are worthless, ugly, fat, whatever that when we finally achieve our body goals we need to start working on our self-esteem and self-worth. Take care of the outside AND the inside. I tell myself every day I look in the mirror that I am healthy and beautiful - slowly but surely I am starting to believe it.
#159 roc07 Aug 12 2007 12:28
Hi Lcrum,

I feel like we're in the same boat.  I currently weigh 118 with a goal weight of 115. Although I like the way I look in my clothes, I stilll have more flab than I'd like.  I'm not sure if 3 pounds is going to be enough to get rid of it.  I may consider going down to 110 and increasing my workouts and strength training to tone up.

Are you going to keep 115 as your Goal Weight?
#160 lcrum Aug 12 2007 18:06
roc07,

I'm not sure about the goal weight. I know if I tone up and build some muscle, 115 might still be ok. But I think I may have to revise my goal to maybe 110 or less. It's been so long since I have been less than 120 so I don't know yet.

Everyone,

I was definitely having a bad day yesterday with poor body image. I read somewhere that the places that you tend to gain weight are the last to lose. That applies to me because I gain weight in my lower stomach, backside, and thighs. Since I have lost weight I see some small progress in these areas, but the most progress is in my arms, calves and face which didn't really need to lose. I hope I will start burning the fat from the problem areas.
