I just turn 30 a few months back and am looking to get back into shape. After getting married 5 years ago I gained 80+ pounds. I am now 222, and hoping to get to at least 187 by this time next year! I always had a hard time staying "thin" and used to model, so I ate very poorly, if at all. I must say, I was rather surprised how many calories I ate in a day once I joined. A group of us at work have signed up on this site and we are all workingout and eating well together. Now, if my husband would get with the program. He is cursed with a naturally thin body and likes me the way I am! I am trying to keep my calories around 1300, and since I try eat only organically, it has been a bit of a challenge. But, so far so good!

hey - me again.  scale is down two pounds in two days - and I'm not depriving myself either!  I know some of it is water, but I also know I can as of this morning get into my old jeans that I had put away before Thanksgiving!  I had actually lost about 5 pounds before joining this week, so it is actually 7 pounds gone.  And I think I'm losing right around my belly which is good for me!  It's where I carry the most weight and keeps my clothes from fitting well.

Anyway, the exercise thing with three toddlers is very hard.  If I get down on the floor to do anything, they use that as an invitation to climb all over me!  Good for them, but not so good for the exercise plan!  It's hard to do crunches with three kids all over you!  We joined a gym with childcare but finding time to go is still the problem - we have preschool for the oldest one two days a week and all three are in gymnastics (in two different classes) and so on and so forth...I guess I just need to put myself on the schedule and make it a priority!

anyway, thanks for the encouragement and a chance to vent.  I stay at home with three toddlers and until my husband comes home, I have very little interaction with adults.  This really helps!!

Also, lots of willpower will be needed today - it's my baby's 2nd birthday and there will be cake and icecream tonight!!!

more later....Lisa

Congrats Lisa.  Water weight or not, it's still weight and it still feels good.

One of the things I noticed whenever I stop eating healthy is my stomach just seems to balloon, its like it gained 3 inches, even if I didnt gain a pound.  As soon as I start eating right again (which just means cutting out proccessed stuff) my stomach goes straight down.  I dont know the cause but I totally see the correlation.

I remember when mine where young like that and how hard it was to find time to do anything.  Might I suggest using the kids as weights while you are down on the floor.  Maybe they could hold your feet down with their weight while you do a sit up and then have them hold on tight and lift them up on your legs. (This was a favorite of mine when I was a kid, my dad used to do this to me).

And yes, making yourself a prioirty would be key as we all know well but easier said then done.  How are your nights?  Could you take the kids to the gym at night since the day is filled with activities for the kids?

For me, week 1, I am down 5 lbs...water weight or not, I am happy.  I dont expect to lose that much here on out in a week but I will take that happily for my first week.

I started Jan. 3 with excercise and counting calories. Today was my first weigh in and I have lost 8 lbs. amazing but it'll only be that much this week. I live with my parents and sisters and we started a challenge there are points for everything from water to excercise, and if they stay on track they get the points for the day and who ever has the most points for the month gets a reward, like tickets to the movies or a new shirt or something. My whole family is over weight and I think it will help everyone to be motivated!! I hope everyone is sticking with it! Good luck

YES! I'm so glad to find some other people who aren't just trying to lose 5 pounds! It gets frustrating to see people complaining about not being able to lose 7 pounds when they are all ready below my target weight!

5'2" -- 247 current -- goal weight 120 -- goal date: my birthday! June 3, 2008 -- started December 19, 2006 -- have lost 8 pounds so far!

Feel free to add me, I need all the support I can get!

Happy Friday!

I was 225-230 when I started and I'm 180 now.  On my way to 170-175.   Can I still be in the "club"?
#151 sorymc Jan 12 2007 13:39
Hi. I will join. I am 222 and want to lose 92-95 pounds. I never went over 200 until I got pregnant and have not been able to lose these 20 pounds. I have been on CC since late Dec. and I love it. I like being able to track my calories easily and also like the food analysis. I have been eating much healthier and it seems like I am losing inches since my clothes fit better. Just not seeing it on the scale. I am super-obsessive about weighing myself which is really bad. At least 5-6 times once I get home from work-working on stopping that.

I don't exercise yet so I know once I incorporate that then I should see some real progress.  Wish all of you well! :)
#152 laurenz32 Jan 12 2007 16:44
hgielrehtaeh, your goal times are about the same as mine. I am looking at June 2008 to reach 150 as that will be about the time of my 20th high school reunion...for me that will be a loss of about 75 pounds...I basically just started Jan 3rd...so you have only a couple weeks on me.

sorymc, I dont think getting on the scale often is really that bad as long as you dont let the daily and even hourly ups and downs get to you. I admit to most days getting on the scale twice, always in the morning and usually again at night. My morning weight is what I consider my real weight and my evening is just more as a 'I wonder how much water I am holding' weight.

legaleli, I am by no means the owner of this group but I for one am not going to turn down anyone who wants to post. I hope to make a few friends and if I get below..err, excuse me...when I get below 200 I dont want to be booted. :)

I would love to join!! I am a new mom and I am 240, my goal is 165 by Oct 1, 2007. I am relieved to know there are others who really struggle with weightloss, like myself, because my battle has been life long. I found out 3 years ago that I have PCOS, and that is a major factor in my situation. Over the years I have tried every diet, even one that had me eating grilled chicken and green beans for breakfast and lunch, little did I know I had a disease that inhibited weightloss. I look forward to getting words of encouragement and giving them! Good luck to everyone!

I'm just like you in the PCOS club...really stinks huh?  I have a beautiful son who is almost 20months old, but needed the help of fertility to concieve him because of the PCOS and weight issues.  It's nice to meet people that have the same issues for support and definitely extra motivation, hope we can chat sometime!
#155 imsvicky2u Jan 12 2007 19:13
whoops sorry spelled your name wrong, meant k instead of j.

just wanted to add, omg just noticed you were in florida too!
#156 danak42 Jan 12 2007 20:20
imsvicky2u, I, thankfully did not have to have any fertility help, my daughter was actually a big surprise! What is crazy though, I assume because of the hormonal changes pregnancy brings on, I was actually smaller after having her than the day I got pregnant. So, pregnancy was a good diet for me! I was 30 lbs heavier a year ago, and I hope to stay on the downward trend.  I am still learning how to treat my PCOS, but what is good about having it.. is knowing that my swollen hands, face and feet are not just a fluke; they are a symptom of the disease.  I commend you on your loss so far and hope we can keep in contact.
p.s..... your son is too cute!

dana & vicky...Hi!!! Finally some Florida girls!! I am the mother of a 2 year old and trying to find time to exercise with my busy schedule. I really need some motivational buddies also. I think the more that I read peoples stories in the over 200 club the less alone that I feel with my weight problems.

adding you as friends...also by the way HOW BOUT THEM GATORS!!! :)

Hi.  I started out at 250 (I think).  I was too afraid to get on the scale.  I just know that nothing was fitting, so I must have hit an all time high.  I started on January 2.  Just like the rest of the world.  Am now at 244.5 hooray!  Clothes actually fit again, but I have a whole closet full of stuff that doesn't fit!

Now that I have weighed myself, I am also obsessive about the scale.  I am trying to only weigh myself once a day.  My goal is to only weigh once or twice a week.

How many times am I going to lose a regain this stupid weight?  I would like to just take it off and maintain a healthy weight for the rest of my life.  Oh well, the focus is on taking it off right now.

This group is for me. I am 42 years old. I have been a stay at home for 3 years now and have 3 boys aged 3, 4, and 7.

My current weight is 205 down 25 pounds from my high of 230 in September (I am 5'5"). I would like to get down to 130/125 and am dialed in for the long haul. For the last few months I having been tracking calories on this site and going to the gym like a fiend.

I was skinny until college and then I only gained about 30 lbs. I lost it on my own after I graduated and then started gaining weight in my late twenties due to stress eating for various things -job issues, boyfriend, marriage, kids.

I lost 30 lbs (pure dieting, no exercise) 2 years ago with Weight Watchers but got bored after 6 months and slowly gained it back to where I started this fall.  I decided at 42 I was tired of being the fattest mom in on my son's soccer team, tee ball team, classroom, etc, especially here in Orange County where a lot of 40-something moms look really good. Also my blood pressure has been creeping up and I started pulling muscles in my back just from sleeping in a wrong position.

I figured it was now or never for me to get healthy while I was still young enough to enjoy it. I started using my gym membership and tracking my calories since every time I did Weight Watchers I always got obsessed by food. I've been eating mostly what I want but in much smaller portions - lots of chicken, fish, meat, veggies and fruits - limited bread/simple carbs. I also eat a lot fewer burgers and fries than I used to.

I have never been much of an exerciser but after 40 the pounds don't come off easily from cutting calories alone. I've been going to the gym 3-5 days a week doing cardio work (45 on elliptical or treadmill uphill) and lifting weights.   I have become addicted to the mood lift I get from the cardio. The workouts help curb my appetite and give me an appreciation for how much work I have to do to burn 900 calories if I want to indulge myself in a big mac and fries. It is also a nice break from the kids.

I am looking forward on trading tips and support with everyone.

For the moms above who said they can't find time to exercise with small kids - get a membership to a gym with childcare and make the time to go.  I joined a couple of years ago to get a break from the kids. I started going back again a couple of months ago and it has been wonderful. I go right after I drop my son off at school at 8 am. The 2 hour break from the kids is great for my stress, too.

i would like to join. I started on December 6,  I weighed 235, I have lost 17 pounds so far. This has been an amazing website to find. I found it accidently when I was trying to find a site to count calories and this was one  came up. This site has changed my life, and I have found something that is not impossible to do. I know that I can stay with this and it will be a lifestyle change for me. It already is.
