CLOSED GROUP Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+)

Quote  |  Reply

Hey everyone,

I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.

So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.

So how about it?

last week: 203.6

this week: 200.6!!! Smile

Well, I did pretty good at having only 1 diet pepsi a day except for last Thursday when I had 2.  This week I will try to have 1 every other day or none at all and see how I do.

As far as exercising every day, I didn't do so good.  I walked only 3 times last week, so this week I will once again try for every day.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Last Week:  184.8

This Week:  184.6

Didn't reach my goal of an even 184, but a lot of work has gone into that 2/10 of a pound, LOL.  I've fluctuated around 185 all week, and Aunt Flo is scheduled to arrive in a day or two, so hopefully I'll have better luck with the weigh-in next week.

However!  I met my mini-goal, yay!  I finally got back on the exercise wagon and worked out for 30 minutes 3 times this past week.  So I'm adding a wee bit of calisthenics for the coming week.

This week's exercise mini-goals:
- Cardio for 30 minutes at least 3 times
- 20 girly push-ups and 50 crunches daily

Lynners, WAY TO GO!

Good morning everyone!

Last week - 167.2
This week - 167.6 sad.. but true

I saw my weight drop to 166 sometime last week but this week I haven't been good about my eating.. I had a slice of pepperoni pizza from Costco last night, the night before I had a small soft serve from McD, I overindulged in a homemade rice drink... and other infidelities I care not to remember... ahhh.. here's to a new day! and healthier choices..

Last week - 202

This week - 197

Yahhhh- down 5 lbs. Sort of makes up for the +1 lb last week - lol

Mini goal - 3-4 walks per week. I'm finding it hard to fit into the day and it's so darned hot here that it's hard to stay motivated.

Everyone's doing awesome!!! Keep it up!

Last week: 221.2

This Week: 218

I must say the elliptical machine is kicking my butt.  Also still sticking to taking the dog out for 2 walks.  And be live me not easy in my neck of the woods every direction we go there is a hill to climb.  Goals for the week to add weight training to my exercise routine.  And to drink more water.

Great job everyone :)

WOw!!!! Look at all these great numbers...way to go everyone!!!!

Last week: 255.0

Today: 252.4

Down 2.6 lbs!!!!!!! Woop, woop!

And for the first time in a LONG time....my scale gave me a fat percentage (apparently I'd been so fat, I was over the 50% mark and it would just tell me there was an error....like I didn't know that already! LOL). Anyway, 49.2%!!! (I'm probably the only person in the world excited to be 49.2% fat! Hee, hee, hee!)

My goal next week is to hit 250 (or even 249.8....) but they are both longshots-I don't typically lose more than 1.5-2 lbs at a time. :-)

My goal this week...more trips to the gym. Last week was rough with the workouts. I am also trying to increase to 2 full 48 oz bottles of water....I get so distracted from my water and then end up trying to guzzle it in the evening (which doesn't help when you are trying to sleep and having to get up every couple hours!). LOL

Anyway....now that I am rambling, I need to go get my coffee and breakfast and get off to the gym. Have a great week everyone!!!!!

I am going to up my cardio to 40 minute sessions, that's up 10 mins each from last week.  I think the most would do is 45 minutes at a time if I am doing 2 sessions a day.  1 hour at a time if I just do one session a day.  So my mini goal for cardio is changed to at least 2 sessions at 40 mins each day this week.

WOW mostly everyone is having a good week with weight loss, that's great!  Those that aren't seeing lower numbers on the scale this week remember our body can tone without losing and muscle can grow and make us gain.  Let's just keep moving in a positive direction together.

EDIT on 8/9:  I have rethunk again.... I will do just 30 mins per session when it is a workout day.   When I am just doing cardio for the day I will do the way i said in this message.. omg  so confusing

Way to go everyone!!!! This is definitely motivating. :)

I met my one mini goal of not eating any fries at work (I didn't eat any elsewhere either!)

My exercise goals weren't met, but I DID walk around a lot more than normal.

Keep it up everyone!

Hi,
Renewed here yesterday after a 9 month absence from the original calorie-count.  I had lost 16 lbs, but gained it all back plus some.  Cry

I'm glad I found this post!  I'm a smidge under 5'4" and weight 188 lbs.  I was quickly becoming unmotivated looking at most of the pictures in the forums of women trying to lose weight.  They all look thin and great, yet most are complaining about their weight!  Acckkk.  I'd trade places in a heartbeat!
My goal is 130 but I would be thrilled to make it to my driver's license weight of 150.

One question:  What exactly does it mean "closed group?"  Is it already closed or is it closed to people who don't meet the criteria?

Thanks for any answers!

It means closed to new members so that we don't get flooded with hundreds of more women wanting in. But really, none of us care if a few more join. :) I think we were all looking for a more personal support system when we decided to make it closed.

Hey everyone!

Totally not weight loss related....but I have been on another journey the past few months as well...that was the journey to get into law school.

I just got a call (a couple hours ago) and I got in! I start in 2 weeks! I can't believe that everything in life seems to be falling into place...finally!

Just wanted to share. We are NEVER too old to follow our dreams!!!!!

Wow people are showing some great successes!!  Congrats on law school jesus girl!  I start grad school applications in a few months and I hope it turns out as good for me as it did for you.

Last week:  154

This week:  155.5

1.5 GAIN!!!  2 things contributed to this...a horrible eating weekend and TTOTM.  So hopefully next week I'll have a nice big loss!

Good job this week everyone!

Hi all!

Well lets see im 23 married and I have an 18 month old son. Im 5" 210 lbs (started last thursday and was at 215) GW of 120 but id be more than pleased with 140..ugh still a LONG way to go lol...I totally need some support and knowing that there are other short people out there stuggling with weight issues keeps me going.

Unsaid...good luck on your grad school process. Keep us posted! Let me tell you that the acceptance letter/phone call is incredibly worth the journey...the LSAT (or GRE/GMAT) prep and test...the admissions fees...LOL...and everything else. Go get 'em girl!

Chantale...welcome to the group! We are a new group....just a couple weeks old and today was weigh in...so you picked the perfect time to join!

Way to go on the first 5...that's awesome!!!!! Keep up the great work!

weigh in day...drum roll, please   170.0  Last wk 172.2   loss of 2.2 lbs  Yeeha!

It's probably been 8 yrs since I've been at this weight

Feels good typing that number - wonder if I'm at a plateau though, since I weighed 170.0 on Monday also

I have been very good this week...watched sodium and calorie content  Innocent

Ate all my food groups  I haven't been to water aerobics though since last Wednesday...life has gotten in the way

still didn't meet my mini goal of 160's ... wish me luck for next week ... hoping for the 160's on Friday

by the way - my goal weight is 140

Yeah, I'd settle for 145 or 150, but that 140 would sure be sweet!

I think everyone is doing a great job!  I really enjoy reading the posts and watching the progress!

Remember this is a lifesyle change not a diet and if you  make a few poor choices just start over again

mini goal for next week...get back to the water aerobics class and try the yoga!

Hi girls! I hope you don't mind me joining late in the game (thanks lynners!). I am 5'1 and currently 202 lbs.  I would like to weigh 100-105 lbs and look and feel better!  I have always been heavy and don't do well with most diets because I love to eat out and hate exercise!  But I can certainly count Smile

I don't know about anyone else but I'm on CC constantly! Checking to see how many calories are in what foods, seeing how many calories are in my home made recipes, and browsing the forums. It's like I'm replacing my addiction to food with an addiction to this website. But hey, whatever works right..haha.

Hey lynners:  I know I'm on this site alot also.  But like you said, whatever works right!!  I feel more committed to trying to eat better and watch my calories from this site.

In particular, things are a little slow at work and as a programmer I'm at my computer constantly, so - here I am, and on televisionwithoutpity.com

*hangs head in shame* I ate a donut this morning.  See, we have a thing at work that people bring in donuts for their birthday and August has been front-loaded with birthdays and I gave in.

The good news is that Krispy Kreme (which I've always thought sounded like saying their donuts are stale) is in the site, and it was 200 calories.  And I hadn't eaten my breakfast yet, so I called the donut breakfast.  Not 200 'good' calories, but not a total crisis.  And *whisper* it tasted so good. */whisper* So, tomorrow I'll try my Nature Valley Cashew bar...
